We'd always left our dogs at a kennel / daycare when we've traveled. But as we've moved to a new…read morearea, and hadn't found a kennel we loved near us, we decided to try the Happy Pet Caregivers when we planned a two week vacation. We felt some apprehension about having the dogs alone overnight with only day visits for walks and feedings, and initially decided to have the pet sitter stay overnight. We met with our primary pet sitter, Allayn, and her back up / emergency coverage sitter Roxy (just the idea that they had a back up plan was reassuring). They were thorough in their questions and really made us comfortable before our trip. Then, on short notice, we had a family emergency and needed a sitter on very short notice, several weeks before our planned vacation. Allayn was able to accommodate us, and the short 3 day coverage, without a sleep-over, convinced us our pets would be fine. Allayn has a great way with dogs (even our cat, who hates everyone, warmed up to her). She's also very reliable, and is a great communicator. For our vacation, we decided that we didn't need the overnight stay - as Allayn fed, exercised, groomed and even vacuumed) and the animals were fine. One of the dogs developed a health issue just before or vacation - Allayn gave his meds, and communicated with us about his condition, keeping us from worrying too much. The price is reasonable - about the same as 2 dogs in a kennel - and the service is outstanding. And I now believe the dogs were happier in their own homes than they ever were in a kennel. I highly recommend Happy pet Caregivers, and Allayn in particular.

Our first dog was elderly and very uncomfortable around other dogs, and rather than take our money and risk the safety of our dog, Jason was honest that our dog was not a good fit to be socialized with the other dogs. Our other dog is a rescue and very shy. Dog Star has increased his confidence and is always excited to go. Our dog returns home happy and tired. After being hesitant about the investment for private lessons, we quickly realized what a tremendous value it was. We told everyone we knew after that first session that we would have paid the full fee if that first session was the only session. Our golden retriever, Huck, was quickly renamed by our friends and family as "good boy Huck" for his rapid transformation. We can now take him into just about any situation with a relaxed mindset and confidence that we have control over him on, or off the leash. Rob's no-nonsense approach put us at ease and simply worked. Our private lessons took place at our house, a couple of other locations "in the world" and ended with dog introductions at his house with some of the board and train dogs. Rob worked to deliver on every single thing we told him we were concerned about when we spoke with him before we started lessons, sometimes remembering concerns that we had long forgotten. We're now taking what we learned in our sessions with Huck to train our now 4-month-old puppy in the same way. Before the visit, Kara the owner came to my house to meet me and my dogs and totally put me at ease. Then I met Morgan who dog sat for us. She was so professional, kind and loved the dogs and the dogs loved her. I was concerned that our dog might give them difficulty as he can be aloof with strangers, but he LOVED the sitter and she was great with him. Our cats loved her as well!
