But as we've moved to a new…read morearea, and hadn't found a kennel we loved near us, we decided to try the Happy Pet Caregivers when we planned a two week vacation. We felt some apprehension about having the dogs alone overnight with only day visits for walks and feedings, and initially decided to have the pet sitter stay overnight. We met with our primary pet sitter, Allayn, and her back up / emergency coverage sitter Roxy (just the idea that they had a back up plan was reassuring). They were thorough in their questions and really made us comfortable before our trip. Then, on short notice, we had a family emergency and needed a sitter on very short notice, several weeks before our planned vacation. Allayn was able to accommodate us, and the short 3 day coverage, without a sleep-over, convinced us our pets would be fine. Allayn has a great way with dogs (even our cat, who hates everyone, warmed up to her). She's also very reliable, and is a great communicator. For our vacation, we decided that we didn't need the overnight stay - as Allayn fed, exercised, groomed and even vacuumed) and the animals were fine. One of the dogs developed a health issue just before or vacation - Allayn gave his meds, and communicated with us about his condition, keeping us from worrying too much. The price is reasonable - about the same as 2 dogs in a kennel - and the service is outstanding. And I now believe the dogs were happier in their own homes than they ever were in a kennel. I highly recommend Happy pet Caregivers, and Allayn in particular.

Our dog has never gotten sick or anything like that and looked great on pick up. He is not the easiest dog to work with, but they do a great job at taking care of him. Even when calling in from time to time to check on him, they never sound bothered and give great updates. Having two separate areas for the dogs, big and small size, helps too so that pups stay in their weight class. The fenced in outdoor play areas are great and on the icky days, they have inside areas as well ready for all the Mother Nature's antics. Winni loved going to Four Paws, and each time came home and crashed from all the fun. Four Paws was also very accommodating with a Pup Bus when I could not get her to daycare or home. She texted me one day and asked if I was interested in a dog that she had up adaption. I went to check out the dog . The dog was friendly and appeared to get along with my other dog . I decided to see how things went and brought the dog home with me Everything was going well for a few weeks . There was some rough housing but nothing serious. There was an incident. I brought the dog back to the kennel. But in hindsight should not have done that . I overreacted. This employee and I exchanged messages and she told me she would get back in touch with me. . I really wanted this dog. Spent a lot of quality time with him . I Bought a bed, crate, and his food that he was eating at the kennel. This employee won't give me back the dog. This employee never called me . I realized how unprofessional, immature, ridiculous and on some level mean and cruel this was. This experience gave me a horrible taste in my mouth for dog rescues. Please think twice about dog rescues when you are asked to sign a 2-3 page contract. This employee was just absolutely ridiculous. I guess she feels this dog is better off in a kennel than a loving home.

We had some other errands to do in the area, (20 miles from our home) so we said we'd be back around noon. When we arrived there, they told us it would be another hour and he'd be ready to pick up at 1pm. 4 hours to wash a small 20 lb., 12 year old dog? Ok, so we hung around the area for another hour and when we arrived at 1pm, they said they had an emergency and had run out of shampoo, so it would be another hour and a half! At this point we had had enough and took the dog home, still needing a bath. When we arrived home, we gave him some water and he drank and drank and drank some more, making us wonder if he had access to water at all for the 4 hours he was waiting for a bath. We won't be going back to The Ranch.
