I love the cafeteria style of the whole place. Few items were just a little over seasoned.

This is that little place around the corner. I don't know why people fill those other reaturants. Food is amazing. Better than home cooked! Had the meatloaf , fried okra, Mac n cheese, Lima beans. This is my place to go for homestyle cooking! Tonight I had three chicken tenders with sweet potato soufflé and mac&cheese. Topped it off with some jalapeño cornbread! I got it take out and was served promptly and courteously. The food was hot and tasty and I don't believe I could have cooked it myself for the price. First time going to Grant's Kitchen, my wife and I were more than satisfied with the multiple choices of vegetables and meats that were prepared and offered. Our food was delicious and favored perfectly. The prices, based upon our selections, were very reasonable. The service was fast and efficient. The in-restaurant dining facilities were very clean and we enjoyed a great dining experience in a comfortable and casual setting. I found this restaurant by reviewing the YELP reviews of others. It was about 8pm, and I wanted some Southern style veggies that were nearby. Found this place, but was always a little hesitant to go, because he's not a fan of buffet or cafeteria style since the food is usually sitting on the line for a min. I got the pick 5 veggie pate, he got the chicken fried steak, and two sides. Again our eyes were bigger than our stomach, we saw a their huge boneless porkchop sitting on the line, it's only $4.50 a piece, so why not? Added that too. We didnt have any high expectation, y'all, were we wrong! Everything tasted great! Porkchop was the size of half the plate, and no it wasn't all breading. That thing was like an inch thick, and super juicy, not dry one bit. Breading was light, and very well seasoned. Chicken fried steak also had great flavor. Food was hot, everything that was fried were still crispy. All of the Veggies tasted good, some were okay, but nothing that we wouldn't eat. Mac n cheese, cabbage, lima beans, and corn souffle were our favorites. This place reminds me of Fresh Market on Spillway before the Covid days. We tried both brown and white gravy, enjoyed both, but I prefer the white gravy, it tasted like a stick of butter We weren't a fan of the cornbread, but that's because we like sweet cornbread, just our preference. So, my mom and I stopped here for lunch today. We are always looking for new places to try. Sadly, this place failed miserably in both quality of food and the price. My mom got the catfish and I got the chopped steak (in picture). We were both disappointed. The food was way too salty or otherwise bland. None of the servers or the cashier wore masks. Not a solid 5, but definitely a high 4. Stopped here this past weekend, and wasn't disappointed. We got there a little early, so there weren't very many people. However, about 10 minutes after we sat down, the masses started arriving. I got a plate with the country fried steak, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and the spicy cornbread. We also rounded up the meal with some banana pudding. The country fried steak wasn't that great, but I've also never had country fried steak before so I don't particularly know what to compare it to. The sides were all delicious though, and I thought the banana pudding had really good flavor. I also tried a bite of the fried porkchops, and the seasoning on the breading was delicious. Cafeteria style place where you go through a line and pick what you want. I've tried the chicken & dumplings and the pot roast. Really love the pot roast. The chicken and dumplings were pretty good too, but I grew up on the true homemade kind, so I have pretty high standards when it comes to my chicken and dumplings. As for side dishes, I really like the mac & cheese. My parents both love the fried okra (I can't stand okra, so I can only give their opinion). The workers are the counter are nice, but when they are busy, they sometimes rush me through the line a little quicker than I like and I don't really have time to think about what I want. The restaurant is clean. No servers, so you'll be responsible for throwing away your own trash and putting your tray up. Prices per person are reasonable at about $8 a person. read more

Customer service from some of those serving the food is horrible. People on the line complaining about the cooks in the back, but without them, food wouldn't be able to be served. How do you run out of baked chicken before lunch hour is over? Kids cannot be served fries because apparently the fryer isn't working and they don't sale fries "every day".. Every time we have eaten here we have not been disappointed. The service, food and place is wonderful. There is a variety of food options. My husband that loves food is always pleased. I JUST got home from going through drive-thru. This was my first time going to this restaurant. I order from an employee that sounded like she did not want to be there and was impatient with me as I decided what to order. I order the country fried steak combo with two sides and a roll. One of my sides are steak fries. She tells me that I have to wait 5 minutes for my fries...that's fine and I wait. I get my order and go home (I don't live in Flowood). THEY GAVE ME SOMEONE ELSES ORDER...AND IT HAD NOTHING BUT SIDES ( 2 orders) IN IT AT THAT. None that I wanted or waited for. It's like she grabbed whatever they handed her, didn't check it, and handed it to me. Giving one star cause I should of checked myself before pulling off. I will not be returning and don't recommend. read more
