    Chicken Henny Sandwich with fries
    Dawn M.

My first visit I used Waitr to order from here. Food arrived hot and good. This time I picked up my food. Ordered same thing as first time....chicken henny sandwich with fries. Chicken sandwich was great but just a little overcooked. Sauced perfectly though. Fries lacked any salt or other seasoning and appeared and tasted as if they were cooked in old grease. Will go back but not in the near future.

Nice and friendly staff, food was tasty. I can vouch for the chicken tenders and fries, grilled chicken salad, extreme potatoes with chicken. The pound cake was delicious!! Stopped in on a visit from NJ!! Thanks!! Xoxo

    Alfredo with steak and shrimp

Great concept and has potential; but it was a "fail" for me tonight. There are other items on the menu, but what captured my attention was the buildable rice, Alfredo and/or potato meal options. I ordered Alfredo, the sauce is really good. The dish is served with broccoli, which I thought was different; and a piece of garlic toast. Unfortunately, the toast was a soggy mess and not edible by the time I made it home. I added steak and shrimp to the pasta. I found the meat majorly overcooked and difficult to chew. A hard contrast to the mushy noodles. There also seemed to be entirely too much salt added. I couldn't finish my food after driving 15 minutes and paying $22.

FESTIVAL ALERT The Fried Chicken Festival was this weekend and so you all know ya girl had to slide through. There were so many restaurants their from WhoDats, McHardys', District Donuts and sooo much more. So I decided to stand in the longest line just to get some @Josephineskitchen from Jackson, MS. I will say these were some goood wings. I got half Jacktown sticky wings and half spicy buffalo ranch wings. I honestly like the sticky wings better just because it more tossed in sauce. And the buffalo was like a little drizzle. 8 pieces for 10$ wasn't bad. And the wings big which made it worth it. Overall I would give these wings 9/10. So the next time you in Jackson, MS make sure you stop at this black owned restaurant.

Food was really good. I enjoyed the country kitchen atmosphere and the option to write on the wall.

But this one was just right for me. I feel like you could show up after a round of golf and it would be cool. That's as long as you don't have swamp ass, LOL. Inside is well lit and airy. There are lots of windows and it's quite comfortable. Our server was great. So good in fact, I have no recollection of them or the service. That's strange. Nothing. I can't even remember if they were male or female?!?!? I do however remember my food. We started with crab claws. They were darn tasty. Nice lemon flavor to the batter and the sauces were great accompaniments. Would recommend! For dinner I chose the Prime Chile Rubbed Flank Steak. Gosh damn was it good! Perfectly cooked, seared well, and still medium rare inside! The sauce was fantastic as well and the fresh cut Parmesan fries were a stupendous addition to the dish! I loved the whole damn thing!!! The spinach was quite unique and very good. It was like crispy sautéed of something. I must have made some noises that my dinner companion had to know about because he ate a couple slices of my steak after I was done. I thought about dessert but the boys didn't want to help so maybe next time!! I will come back here. I hope this meal was not a fluke!! I can't stop thinking about that damn steak!! '26 - 40

Definitely a good place for lunch…read more Keeping in the theme with wanting to eat southern food while in the south, it was redfish once again. Just like yesterday's redfish, this one was different but absolutely fantastic. A wide variety of lunch options, as well as some daily lunch specials made the choice what to eat a tough one. Leaning towards what they're known for, redfish, I gave this place a try as well. This was a thick piece of redfish which included lump crab on top with a cream sauce, smothered all over it. The meal included garlic mashed potatoes, as well as string green beans. The green beans weren't super plentiful, but they were good. The mashed potatoes were a little on the cool temperature side, but they were also very good. You don't get much lump crab, but that too was good. One of the folks got a sandwich with their special chips. I had to try the chips, must say they were excellent. The server for as busy as she was, was terrific.

While traveling from NC to TX, we drove through Jackson, MS, looking for lunch. We checked out Yelp…read moreand headed for Rooster's at 2906 N State St. We ordered country fried steak with coleslaw and green beans, and a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. We also got an unsweetened tea, Diet Coke and homemade banana pudding. Everything was absolutely delicious. The country fried steak was crispy on the outside and hot on the inside and had plenty of gravy on top. Also, the gravy was exactly the right consistency. The coleslaw was excellent and the green beans were hot as well, and both were seasoned well. The unsweetened tea was very tasty and fresh. The burger was cooked to medium as requested. The bacon and cheese were great toppings as was the crisp lettuce and what tasted like local tomatoes. One of the best things about the burger was the homemade white bun--(also served with the country steak). It tasted like buns my mom used to make. The onion rings were hot and crispy, with a wonderful crunchy fried batter. Delicious! We haven't tried the pudding yet, but we'll update our review tonight when we try it out! Thank you to the hardworking and friendly service staff, cooks and owner. We will definitely be back in the future!

My go-to in Fondren is always Pig & Pint. That's where we were headed on the way to Oxford, but…read morethey didn't have any water that day, so we ended up going up the road to Rooster's instead. What a great accidental find. Rooster's is absolutely awesome. I had the burger and onion rings and both were damn good. The burger was simple, cooked right, and exactly what a burger should be. The onion rings were thin, crispy, and really good. My daughter got the chicken tenders and they were massive. I mean actually massive. More importantly, they were delicious. The fries were hand cut and just as good. Service was friendly, the place had a cool neighborhood feel, and it filled up fast. Parking is definitely at a premium, so get there early if you can or be prepared to wait a little. This is one of those places we probably would not have found if everything had gone according to plan, and now I'm really glad it didn't. So thank you to whoever forgot to pay the water bill at Pig & Pint. Just kidding. Thank you to whatever public works person accidentally broke the main water supply and sent us down the road. Because Rooster's is legit, and we'll absolutely be back.
