When you arrive you'll want to allow time to get through security/ticketing. Walking in you'll feel like you've been transported in time to an old Hollywood-style regal and lavish theatre. The Broadway shows are always great - in my opinion the sound and seating at Winspear really shine versus Fair Park Music Hall. Concerts here are fantastic and I would jump at the chance to see a favorite artist at the Winspear. Easiest parking is the Lexus Red lot but it is a bit pricey and naturally takes a while to empty out post show. Still you can walk around after the show and let the crowds clear out or get a snack at the Flora Cantina next door. There is also dining inside the center up high which looks really great. Amazing views from inside on all levels. What a gorgeous building and we are lucky to have it in our city.

Upon leaving, expected extreme wait time but a surprise again on how easy to walk to the car (yes, shuttle available ) and get right out - no wait time as everyone was courteous and moved smoothly out of the parking area. In that time I'd been in so many productions I have actually lost count. If this was a real workplace it would break numerous labor laws. To start acting here you NEED to come in with little self-respect and leave with none. Actors are expected to volunteer their money, clothes, pets, children and any sign of second thought is looked on as selfishness. There are contracts for the volunteer work here which do not exist for the protection of the laborer. I'm pretty sure they're accessible from their website. You can read them yourself. You'd have to be really naive to think you weren't being taken advantage of. Dude who owns it; a man actually named Jamey J. Jameson. I spent my adolescence trying to know this man. The only conclusion I can come to is that at some point he got bitter and his heart died. He holds himself with such disdain toward everything around him. ACT has a reputation for doing shows without licensing. This is because Jamey has made an enemy of nearly every prominent licensing company he's worked with. He has consistently refused to try to make amends because doing that would require admitting fault. He could fix this problem by being an adult and owning up to the person he's become but I know he'll never do that. This stubbornness is legitimately destroying his business. I'm embarrassed to have once considered him a mentor For a long time he would punish hyperactive KIDS in his KIDS productions by giving them 'the shirt'. Which was a punishment where Jamey's often unwashed sweaty t-shirt was pulled over a kid's head and they were held against his bare, stinking, damp, hairy torso. that's a deeply fucked up thing to do to children, man. At age 14, while I was still acting here, I developed an eating disorder. The adults around me spread the rumor that I had a sexually transmitted disease because I'm queer. Jamey would routinely mock me for having rapidly lost weight. I guess he thought it was like. Unmanly or something? Because there's nothing cooler than calling a child a fag (which he also did). Made him feel big and funny. I later learned he used my recovery as a story in a bid to receive funding from the city without my knowledge or consent. I wouldn't have allowed him to do that if he asked me. Pretty scummy thing to do, man. The summer of that year I had been volunteering as a counselor for the kid's theater camps and I was called ungrateful for taking a break to eat my lunch. Which considering the eating disorder thing that he clearly knew about. Dude??? I guess the work itself was the reward for the work. Many of the ppl in this building are known sex pests who are allowed to continue to work around their victims either because they supply funding to ACT, or out of desperation for actors who are naive enough to supply hours of unpaid, unsafe manual labor on the ever-instilled belief that they have no chance of acting in any other environment. As a child I felt unsafe. As an adult I felt degraded. I've seen this building ruin lives. Rend families apart. ACT likes to sell itself as a struggling haven for outcasts but it's not. It's a little dying hole in the wall where a sad little man's dead dreams poison everything around him. I loved this place. I made and lost some of the deepest friendships I think I'll ever have here. There's so much I learned about myself here, but I REFUSE to give the art centre theatre credit for that. That was me. This place drains people of every bit of passion they bring and claims credit for the things they achieve on their own. The effort and love of performers and directors is so brightly evident! It's what draws people In, makes the shows watchable. But performers are told that they are lesser for it. That nobody else will take them. That they're annoying and broken and that they deserve to work tirelessly and thanklessly to keep a man who hates them's dying business afloat. It's manipulative and considering that this place markets itself toward like. Kids and teens, it's evil. I hope you're reading this, Jamey. I hope one day someone gives you a wake-up call that actually works and you realize that the people around you are as real as you and that each of them goes through things just as miserable as the things you go through. Kindness is a choice you can make, and one that will reward you. That you are not stuck in your position because you are the victim of the world, but because people do not like you. And they dislike you not because of some unchangeable part of you, but because of how you've chosen to treat them. If you don't change you will die miserable. I'm only writing this in a public forum because I know you care so much about reputation and I think it actually might be the only way to reach you. The Wildflower Arts & Music Festival is a 3 day celebration of local art as well as national and…read morelocal musicians. It's always held on the third weekend in May, rain or shine. The location can't be beat - centrally located right around the Eisemann Center at US 75 and Galatyn Parkway. Plenty of parking - free at surrounding businesses and paid at the Eisemann. Richardson residents can buy advance tickets at a lower rate. This year, tickets were on sale for Friday and Saturday and admission was free for Sunday. This year I happened to win free admission tickets! I always find several bands I'm interested in seeing. For almost the past 20 years, I have attended Wildflower, except for starting the year or two before Covid. About 7-8 years ago, I was at one of the main headliners and it was so crowded, that I did not feel safe. There were way too many people crammed in to the outdoor space and I thought if there was a true emergency, it would be really hard to get out safely. So this year, I checked the band line up and decided Friday night looked good. We met up with some friends and had a great time! I went to the country stage to see Jackson Dean and Justin Moore, visiting Blues Traveler at the main stage in between their showtimes. It's great to be able to have so many choices and genres available. Some singers are inside the Eisemann, so when it's really hot outside, it's so refreshing to go into the air conditioning and sit in nice comfy seats. For the outdoor shows, you can bring a blanket or lightweight outdoor chairs. There is a wide range of food and beverage options and lots of porta potties set up all around. You can shop at the various vendor tents sprinkled throughout. I always enjoy seeing the decorated guitars that are up for auction that are displayed in the Eisemann lobby. Thank you City of Richardson for putting together such a wonderful event every year! I know it must take A LOT of people and planning to pull off an event of this magnitude. There was a huge police, SWAT and volunteer presence and I am happy to report that I felt very safe at this year's event!

The cheapest, fun filled weekend in Richardson is at the Wildflower Arts & Music Festival. It's…read morethree days in May and includes live music on six different stages. Music genre varies, but there is usually a headliner or two that everyone knows. If you are a Richardson resident you can buy a ticket online in advance for $15 for the day. The headliner in 2026 was George Thoroughgood and the Destroyers, and the opening act was Blues Traveler. They performed on Friday night starting at 8:30 pm until nearly midnight. There were other musicians that performed throughout the day and evening on the various stages. Lots of vendors setup tents and sold or exhibited their items. There were local businesses, artisans, and food & drink vendors. You can easily spend the entire day and night here and be entertained, but if you only have an hour, you are still sure to have fun. Parking is free in the Blue Cross Blue Shield parking garages north of Lookout off Greenville. The street and festival have a lot of volunteers and police directing people. Signage was easy to follow. There is a bag security check at the entrance. Also, there are rules about what is and isn't permitted into the venue. You can bring a foldable lawn chair, blanket, one manufactured sealed water bottle with you. I recommend wearing a good pair of shoes because there is a lot of walking and standing around. The event is rain or shine, so your shoes might get muddy and wet in f there is inclement weather. There are paved sidewalks in a lot of areas, but there are also grassy areas that you might walk through. Most vendors take credit cards. There are activities for both adults and children. If you get really hot, you can seek shelter in the Eismann Center and enjoy the A/C. They have activities inside, too. I bought tickets for all three days because at the time of my advanced purchase, I didn't know who the bands were or what my availability would be that weekend. I only ended up going on Friday night. I was told that the event was free on Sunday, which surprised me since I had purchased tickets in advance for that day as well. I won't make that mistake again! If you volunteer, they give you a t-shirt for working the event and free admission on Sunday so that you can enjoy the event because you won't have time on the day you volunteer. I've only been to this festival about three times in the 9 years I have lived here, but I have enjoyed it each time. I especially love that I can enjoy inexpensive, live music in the city where I live. I've seen some great bands each time and always look forward to returning.
