I stumbled upon this place while driving months ago after hurricane Irma. It was closed at the time but I had promised myself that I would have to check it out. I am glad I was able to last night and I was amazed by how cute it was. Spill is not a big wine bar but it quite small but the ambiance is everything. They have special events during the week, from open mic to live bands performing. Last night there was a live band and the music was good. I ordered one of their local beers, unfortunately I can't remember the name but it was light enough and not too "hoppy". I also tried their spinach and artichoke dip and it was tasty. I can't believe I have I lived so close and never passed by here! So I always thought this place was a wine bar....and I'm not a big fan of wine. Reading some reviews I learned they offer craft beers, on draft as well! On my way to the gym one day I decided to say F it....I want a drink...yep it was one for those kind of days. Stopped here since it is in the same shopping plaza. Small and cozy yet plenty of room, inside and out. They have Sweetwater IPA on draft (which I enjoy) and bud light (which the hubby enjoys). They have 5 or 6 beers on draft and a variety in bottles available. Happy hour is every day from 3pm-7pm. I must make a Sunday for $3 mimosas!! They have some cheeses and dip available as food but local places in the Plaza will deliver with staff available. I called tijuana on a Tuesday and they were busy so I went to pick it up but I have seen them deliver on other days. There is a pizza place and Chinese place that will deliver as well. Girl at the bar every time has been friendly and helpful everytime. She even trusted me to go to tijuana and come back without paying my bill. They have live music different nights of the week. I can't believe I have lived in Winter Springs for almost 3 years now and have never stopped by his quaint little wine bar only a few minutes from my house. I finally decided to stop by here one evening for their Disney trivia. I walked in and was a little skeptical when I saw a couple ladies with tiny dogs in their own strollers (eye roll) but honestly it was a cozy atmosphere and one of the best trivia experiences I have had. It's small so if you are going for an event get there early for seating (although they did have outdoor seating if you needed it but be aware it's not ideal in the summer heat). The food is minimal but actually quite good. I was surprised at how delicious it was. I got a cheese board with a friend and then we split a SMORES FLAT BREAD. HOLY HEAVEN. So simple yet so mind blowing. I will be back for this. Mark my words. I had both the white sangria and red sangria. Both are yummy but I preferred the white. Service can get a little slower with the larger crowds so don't expect to rush the staff. I can't wait to come back for more events in the future. This is absolutely a favorite neighborhood wine bar for my husband and me. We tend to go Friday nights after a long work week. They have great choices for both wine and beer lovers. I tend to like interesting reds, and he is a craft beer guy. Spill offers plenty of both! We always order a cheese plate as our dinner. It's fairly simple but we are always more than satisfied. What's not to love about cheese, meat, and grapes? It's pretty quiet when we go, but I know they have live music weekend nights around 8 or 9. The beer and wine in the background of this hidden gem were just icing on the cake. Yes, they have a great selection of beer and wine, throw in some cheeses, yada, yada, back to the jazz flute. This guy was covering everything Jethro Tull. I couldn't stand up due to my obvious arousal. I wept tears of joy. It was as if I had just seen a glorious rainbow and Veronica Corningstone had asked me to do her on it. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. I tried to get the name of the band and was presented with several different names from members and non-members alike. I guess it's for the best. I gave up on my dream of being a roadie for a Jethro Tull cover band long ago. They rotate their live entertainment quite a bit. The glasses were not cleaned very well as they had lots of water spots and streaks. The meat and cheese board was nicely laid out with decent options. I don't think the grapes were washed though. BW AWARE OF HAPPY HOUR RIP OFF!!! I ordered a "$5 happy hour wine" then was billed for $7.50. When I questioned it, I was told "It was a double pour". I told the waiter I didn't want a double pour, he stated, "Well then I will have to charge you for 2 drinks, it's a 2 drink minimum". There is no mention of this on the sign, and he never mentioned it. I also ordered the chicken skewer appetizer, dry, tasted like they threw in microwave. Will not return. The atmosphere is great! Like a hometown bar, however, the wine by thE glaSs isn't great for a wine Bar. They did have some European wines which I appreciate, since all of the California wines are full of glyphosate. However they serve red wine and white wine glass, and vice versa. What an awful experience. I will never, never, ever return to this place and will tell everyone I know to avoid it like the plague. I have been to Spill about a dozen times and what occurred last night was completely out of character for what I have seen over that time period. The first time I went here was a Wednesday night and I sat at the bar. The bartender, Taylor, was awful. No one could get a drink, she was completely flustered by the amount of business she had (approximately 20 people) and that she was the only person at the bar. I ignored this situation and chalked it up to just being a bad night. I went in a couple nights later and Kendra was there. She was awesome. Attentive to everyone. Had a smile on her face for everyone. Someone was complaining about another bartender and I thought they were talking about Taylor. I said to Kendra that Taylor was costing them money by her attitude and lack of ability to handle customers. Kendra said that was abnormal for her and that she was usually awesome. I had not been back whenTaylor was there until I stopped by last night on my way home from work. I sat at the bar and watched her. Kendra was also on and ran circles around her. Kendra waited on 10 people to 1 that Taylor did. I was waiting for my tab for 20 minutes while Taylor was at the bar and never once asked if I needed anything. During this time, I also saw her flick her hand in the air at an older gentleman and not help him. His face was in disbelief. When Kendra came back, I said to her,"that situation we talked about before (no names mentioned at the bar), pay attention to it tonight, it is hurting your business. Kendra turned around and said, Taylor's my girl, don't say anything about her in a loud manner. I was shocked and then said something to the person next to me. Had nothing else been said, I would have just forgotten about it and moved on. She added more to that and went in the back. Again, I am now in shock over it. The person next to me said that he hadn't had a problem with Taylor that maybe she just needed to warm up to me. A bartender should never have to warm up to someone and I am not looking for a friend, just someone to give me service and Taylor was not doing that in any way shape or form. If it ended there, I would have just dropped it, but this just keeps going. The manager came over to me and said. We've never had any problem with Taylor and that I shouldn't say anything about her. No one else had complained. All I had said was to pay attention to how she is handling your customers. She basically berated me for trying to help her with a situation. Another customer came over to the bar and said that she had issues with not getting service from Taylor as well. The manager said, oh now you are getting others to take your side? WHAT? I didn't know this person at all. They just came over to give input to the situation from the CUSTOMER SIDE. I sat there another 20 minutes waiting for my check. Someone that was outside at a table came over and asked me to come join their table so I did even though i was ready to leave. They were super nice. I DID continue to tell the story to them as to what had happened and the manager apparently didn't think that I had the right to do that. Another person overheard it and came over to the table and said how she had great service there and liked coming. Before we could agree because every other time we had, the manager jumped in the conversation and told me basically to shut up. This didn't end there. I was shocked that they told the table of 12 people that they wouldn't serve them as long as I was sitting at their table. They did last call at 9:45 and the bar closes at 11. I was shocked that a customer was made to be the bad guy for just pointing out bad service. I will say that this is not typical. Kendra and Corey the other bartender are usually great. The place is cute. The wines are decent and the prices aren't bad. They usually have live music a few nights a week that is enjoyable. The flatbreads aren't great and are overpriced for what you get, but that isn't their claim to fame. Their claim to fame is the local bar that takes care of the patrons and it's a place that you should enjoy going. UNFORTUNATELY, the WHOLE staff failed on this night. In addition, I do want to add that at no point did I get loud, or angry. Had that happened, I would have understood the reaction. The whole time, it was conversational level. I also never once talked bad about the bar or Kendra. The whole issue was about Taylor and her lack of ability to wait on customers. If I were the manager there, I would want to know because you can't fix what you don't know about. Unfortunately, I won't be back and I hope that a few of you don't go either due to this review. Prior to last night, my review would have been 4 stars (just because the flatbreads aren't great and over priced). read more
