First time here, I tried the French toast and pancakes. The pancakes were just okay, but the French toast & omelette tasted a lot better than it looked. Inside is dim lit. The crowd was mostly "senior" customers, which gave it a different vibe than I'm used to, but the service was really friendly. Also, there's plenty of seating inside and lots of parking outside. I'm sorry but having lived in Charlotte with the largest Greek community in the southeast...the Greek dishes served here are just plain bland tasting. The last time I was there, I tried something different on the menu...shrimp and grits...awful! We haven't been to the Grapevine Restaurant in a while. We went yesterday for an early dinner. They updated their menu and the prices increased substantially. I understand that everything has gone up, but the quality of food does not match the price. I "updated" my grilled cheese sandwich to get french fries instead of potato chips (for $1.50) and my fries came out raw. The serve gave me a new plate, but by that time my sandwich was almost all gone. Last time we went was almost a year ago. I wanted Lasagna with Marinara sauce, it came out with meat sauce (I don't eat meat). The 2nd order came out again with meat sauce and at that point, my husband's meal was cold waiting for my meal. Well ... the first time I ate here I didn't have a good experience, but I believe in trying places twice for a fair review. This is my experience on my second visit: On a Sunday morning at 11 am in April. Outside temperature was in the mid 60s and raining. Coming inside to Grapevine and they had the A/C on! Freezing inside, but hopefully the wait staff will get warm coffee to our table quickly. Nope! Service was very slow and the staff was not knowledgeable about their own food or specials. Took what seemed like forever to bring our drinks and when they came they were not correct. They were out of biscuits (FOR BREAKFAST in the SOUTH!?), they were out of the breakfast meat we wanted, the greek omelette ordered at our table was missing the Feta cheese. Pancakes were cold, syrup was cold. Butter didn't even melt on the pancakes!? Toast wasn't actually toasted, grits and eggs were mildly warm, but not hot. So, in the end, out party paid $104.00 PLUS TIP, for slow service, cold food, and incorrect orders. Would I advise anyone to go here ? HARD PASS! Customers were a mixed bag. Of course not masked at their tables, but many customers came in with no masks and no one said anything. If you go, check prices and get it to go. The Greek salad had definition but was not properly drained. Very watery, which canceled out the Greek dressing. The gyro platter was ok--lettuce and tomato offerings were useless and unappetizing. The pita points were fine. The "gyro meat" was ok. The potatoes were oily (with Italian dressing?) and just ok. On the whole, it was ok. The variety of items (Greek and southern fatz) on the menu makes this place a better option than Peach Blossom and Wade's. We might go back, but I wouldn't order the gyro platter again. read more
