Earlier we had enjoyed the Kentucky voice of Angel- both girls were angels. Heirloom has a small menu and a small dining room, but extra large hospitality. Because of a buffet lunch, we settled on burgers - No, cannot prepare medium rare. Very possibly menu items have spent a good deal of time in the freezer. In an area with mostly fast-food places, this was an welcome and amazing find. It's adjacent to a hotel, but owned and operated independently. Offering both indoor and outdoor dining, the ambience in both is very pleasant. There is even contiguous bar seating as another option. Tables are not crowded together, staff is friendly yet professional and service was impeccable. There are no distracting TV's. Best of all, the food was great. I had the best pork chop I've had in ages. Sweet potato hushpuppies were a surprise hit. As someone else put it: this is a perfect date-night restaurant. It's my birthday!!!! So I chose this restaurant because I wanted to try something different instead of going to one of our usual spots. We live in Greenville, so this was definitely outside of our usual scope. I love the name of the restaurant, the decor and atmosphere were nicely done. The staff greeted us with a smile and our server...whose name was "Creamer" was knowledgeable and very helpful. We ordered Brussels sprouts for an appetizer and mini hand made biscuits for appetizers which were pretty good. My youngest son and I both ordered Salmon (altered from the what's on the menu) sweet potato puree I ordered the corn and my son ordered asparagus, my husband ordered Gumbo and my oldest son ordered a steak. The presentation of the food was nice and the food was good, I enjoyed my meal but I tasted my husbands gumbo and we both felt that it lacked flavor...for it to be creole gumbo and a side of creamed corn (he and I could have shared that bowl...there was a lot). My oldest son felt that his steak was overpriced. Youngest son enjoyed his too. What really made the evening stand out was the service. Our server, Autumn, was excellent, engaging without being overbearing, and clearly knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. She had that rare ability to anticipate what we needed without hovering, and her recommendations were spot on. That woman is going places! Marrying into a family of logistical planners my most recent trip to Spartanburg SC to visit the grandparents was organized to the very last detail. Personally, I like to see what local eateries are on display while walking or driving throughout the day before deciding on where to go for dinner. However, I have come to understand why Heirloom was chosen well in advance by my father-in-law, as he tends to visit top ten restaurant sites for wherever he travels. Our server was wonderfully funny and the poster girl for pure southern hospitality, not only did she sell my wife on the nights special (Braised short rib with Duchess potatoes and asparagus) but also two others in our party. I in turn opted for the special cocktail of the night: The Cozy Classic, a chocolatey bourbon beverage before tucking into our must order appetizers of oysters Rockefeller and the Skillet cornbread. I went with the Duck confit and when put in front of me still maintained it structural integrity, but once fork met flesh it fell apart completely perfectly cooked morsels. My only critic is that the cauliflower pomme under my duck was lacking in either substance or flavor I couldn't quite put my finger on it. When you travel with your dog an onsite quality restaurant with a pet friendly patio is rare. We found this unicorn at Hilton Garden Inn and Heirloom. A beautiful outside dining area, oysters Rockefeller, fried chicken and a delicious fresh fish special of the day made for a lovely dinner. Thought to try this place for the first time having been in the area now for 3-years. Great setting/atmosphere to bring a special someone. No complaints there. Service was fine. The food, on the other hand were something that needed improvement - especially for the price of just the entrees alone. I had the Chicken Pot Pie. I informed the server (Karen) that I was quite hungry, so she agreed that, that was a good choice. After a few bites, the pot pie was so salty, that I was only able to eat 1/4 of it. I saw very little white meat inside. I took the leftovers home, but just tossed it in the trash. My partner, on the other hand had the Salmon. Karen said that they serve it cooked Medium. But after serving and with a few bites, it was overdone, dry. (Although the presentation looked nice.) I really look forward to trying new restaurants and experiences. Unfortunately, though I've heard from a few people that The Heirloom is a nice place, it didn't meet my anticipated expectation - let alone the total cost for two simple entrees. I ordered the bbq salmon which looked great, the flavor was incredible but the rice that accompanied it was salty. The string beans were good. My husband's 12oz ribeye which was the most expensive item on the menu was a bit tough. But they were willing to replace it or bring something else. But he refused. They compensated us on the bill which was nice, although I didn't see it until we left, very low key, which was surprisingly refreshing for a restaurant. The atmosphere was a little loud but we were seated between two large groups, so that couldn't be helped Overall I think I will try them again. This time with a reservation and a request to be seated away from a large table. We took away our desserts to enjoy later at home. Very disappointing. Too sweet and the pound cake was hard. The portions compared to the portions of the meal in restaurant was surprisingly small. So I think we will skip dessert in future. I was in town visiting family and we went here the first night I arrived for dinner. I'd been one time in the past and sat at the bar so I was slightly familiar. However, I'd never been for dinner. We were greeted warmly but the hostess and offered the chance to look over the limited holiday menu. The one star is for the hostess on the night of Christmas Eve. Once seated the experience started to feel less warm and time passed. We ordered an appetizer and our entrees (salmon, poulet rouge and 2 short rib) at the same time with a request to stagger their arrival. We munched on the bread that was offered but a few pieces looked like they shouldn't have made the table. Our server was sweet but not always attentive. The appetizer arrived about 35-40 min later then our entrees. None of our entrees were hot despite being told they were. The salmon was overcooked, the poulet rouge undercooked and the short rib was ok. My family ate it mostly because we all waited all day for this meal but I didn't even eat a 1/4. The manager, I presume, came over and unsatisfied with our responses wanted to ensure that, although we weren't pleased at all...it still had good flavor. As if flavor compensates for poor customer service, an incorrect order, lukewarm and not properly cooked food. He offered desserts that nobody wanted. However, my uncle accepted them since it seemed the manager would not leave unless they were. Once home, we saw the cake was extremely dry too. Wish the experience matched the ambiance. read more

Wow!!! This place was a wonderful experience while here in Spartanburg. From the moment I called for a reservation the staff was beyond polite and engaging. When we arrived we were greeted by three uber friendly staff members one of which I am assuming was the manager. At our table our waiter was quick to suggest some delicious meals and highlight their signature drinks. We had the Fried Green Tomatoes and Brussel Sprouts to start. Both were out of this world. We then split the pork chop entree and the flatbread app. Again, beyond delicious. The drinks were a lovely complement and super creative in their construction. So this was my second time ordering from this restaurant. My first time was a friends party and I got the fettuccine Alfredo because I want to something simple. No one can really get this one wrong unless you're like Applebee's or Denny's except this place. It was the same quality. It was terrible Alfredo very plain I even had to add salt which I never add salt to my food at restaurants because I feel like they do a good job. this dish is quite simple so I am kind of shocked. How can I restaurant like this Makes such a terrible fettuccine Alfredo. I know I am a foodie person and I like good quality food and I don't really care about the price unless it's good quality. So tonight I win again for another friend's birthday and I want to something different and I asked a server quite a bit of times on about what really taste good because usually the servers know what tastes good at the restaurant. But sadly, I feel like this lady just probably doesn't have great taste buds because she told me the fried chicken was excellent or the burger so my friend order the burger and I ordered the fried chicken with a side of sweet potatoes. When we all got her dish, I was quite disappointed because my food was cold. That was one. My sweet potato was very cold and really flavorless. But the most disappointing was the fried chicken. I like fried chicken, but this one was so bad I feel like KFC is can make such a better chicken than this and it was over cooked. I couldn't even believe the chef would even let us come out of his own kitchen when you can clearly see, it is a burnt piece of chicken. It was very chewy and dry, so do not get the fried chicken here. Then I asked my friend who got the burger how does she like that and she said it was very dry and also had really no flavor. Then my other friend got the salmon and she was also very disappointing especially was farm Salmon. The rest of the girls were not foodies, so I really don't ask their opinion, but no one said they're dish was even good. No only good thing. My personal opinion was the bread rolls with the honey butter but even that I would give that at three it's nothing special. They environment is very beautiful. I will say and the chairs are comfortable so you can sit there for a long time but I would never come here for food. One time it was really disappointing and then you can always blame navy. It was just a bad night, but the second time and messed up. One of their special dishes is really bad. And before I did a rating I went ahead and checked well. Did anyone else complain about this place and it looks like the reviews are going downhill, so I definitely think the management needs to step it up. It's not only about the environment but the quality of food because soon you will be the next Applebee's. . I hate advertising other restaurants, but save your money and go across the street and go to city range and at least you are not have a cold dish or a burnt chickens Know if you are not a foodie person and you don't really care for your taste buds bar only there because you need to eat. We went as they advertised farm to table. To begin with I called and requested a 7:00 reservation and the person who answered the phone said there was no need. Upon arriving we went to the desk and the girl asked if we had reservations. I said no we were told they were not needed to which she responded we should have been told they were needed and it would be 30 minute wait. We were seated sooner which was nice. We ordered the country ham fritters which were overcooked to almost burnt. Next to no country ham or collards in them and the pimento cheese was awful. My wife ordered the country fried steak which was not tender and I ordered the braised chicken thighs(plural). One thigh on the plate bone in and it tasted like it was cooked yesterday and had some very dry parts to it. Our roasted potato's were not roasted or seasoned.
