Smoke and Spice
Alice F.

This review is only for the bar, but we loved our bartender! We were only in Spartanburg for one night. I was impressed by the drink menu and surprised by the complexity of the options. I had the Smoke and Spice cocktail, which was carefully created and artfully presented. They have a solid spirits selection. I would definitely go back and try the food next time, because the space and the menu looked nice. Another trip!

We were in town for a college visit and we were looking for a place close by to have a few cocktails before dinner. Heirloom was the perfect spot! Walking distance from the hotel and casual but trendy! The two girls at the bar were very friendly and made some great recommendations and tasty drinks, I wish I can remember their names right now. They were so good, we left to take the kids to get some dinner and returned for a night cap. I will definitely come back when in town and to try the food!

Marrying into a family of logistical planners my most recent trip to Spartanburg SC to visit the grandparents was organized to the very last detail. Personally, I like to see what local eateries are on display while walking or driving throughout the day before deciding on where to go for dinner. However, I have come to understand why Heirloom was chosen well in advance by my father-in-law, as he tends to visit top ten restaurant sites for wherever he travels. Our server was wonderfully funny and the poster girl for pure southern hospitality, not only did she sell my wife on the nights special (Braised short rib with Duchess potatoes and asparagus) but also two others in our party. I in turn opted for the special cocktail of the night: The Cozy Classic, a chocolatey bourbon beverage before tucking into our must order appetizers of oysters Rockefeller and the Skillet cornbread. I went with the Duck confit and when put in front of me still maintained it structural integrity, but once fork met flesh it fell apart completely perfectly cooked morsels. My only critic is that the cauliflower pomme under my duck was lacking in either substance or flavor I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Great service, incredible food and worth saving down in a note on one's phone if ever in Spartanburg.

My husband and I had a great dining experience at Heirloom. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. We had the pasta and the burger. Both were exceptional. Each meal also comes with mini homemade biscuits, which were delicious. We both enjoyed our dinner and will be back. Highly recommend!

Short ribs

3.5 stars! The complimentary biscuits and butter were my favorite part of dinner. I was very excited for my short rib meal because of the presentation but the flavors were underwhelming and the more I ate, the more fat I found, so I let the waitress know & she said I could choose something else from the menu & she wouldn't charge me for it. I then ordered garlic rub chicken wings which weren't great either. The ambiance is beautiful, I wish the food was as good as the vibe. My friend is not a picky eater or reviewer & she had a cheeseburger with fries. She stated "This burger makes me miss Zinburger. If I were back in the area, I would probably not come back here. Our waiter was okay, definitely wasn't as nice as other waiters I was seeing around the restaurant.

Shrimp and grits! Delicious with lots of flavor

Great location between the Hampton and Hilton hotels. The Hampton gave me 10% off for my dinner. Pretty space and delicious food.

The vibe inside is very Eden meets 90s lounge, and the music is R&B chill. I was jamming very song so that's a +++. We were greeted right away and service was like that all night. The staff was the best part! They were friendly, attentive, and all in costume (which was cute). I revived drink recommendations and tried 2. Both were good. Purple Rain (smoother) and the Blackberry Lemon Drop (sharper). There are many more that look delicious, too, so I'll try more one day. We started with the collard green dip appetizer and that was our favorite food item. It was served with seasoned (and warm!) pita chips. I only wish it was a little thicker. Our entrees had good portions and came out hot. I enjoyed the jerk salmon overall but wish the meat itself had its own flavor too. The jerk did it all in this case. The collard greens were good to me (my guy wished for less salt/seasoning). My guy had the lamb chops, greens, and mashed potatoes. He was okay with everything but not in love with anything but that dip! All in all I think we will return to try more of the menu and I'll certainly be back to try the cocktails.

My wife had the Cajun chicken Alfredo, which was also outstanding--rich, well-seasoned, and very satisfying. We also tried the sweet potato cornbread, which was wonderful and a definite standout. Both of our cocktails were well made and complemented the meal nicely. On top of the great food and drinks, the service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and professional throughout. We'll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Suitcase Social Club Dispatch No. 47: "Timmy vs. The Lumberjacks"…read more If you've ever wondered what happens when a grown man with sales quotas, a mild caffeine imbalance, and the attention span of a golden retriever discovers competitive lumberjack sports streaming on the bar TV... well, allow me to submit Exhibit A. I wandered into Main Street Bar & Eatery for what was supposed to be a "quick bite between quotes." Instead, I became spiritually welded to a barstool while the TV blasted a man in flannel yeeting a chainsaw like it owed him money. And the fried pickles. Good grief. Those things ambushed me. One minute I'm thinking "I'll just have a snack," and the next I'm waist-deep in a basket of fried circles of temptation, crunching my way into oblivion while pretending to "work." My laptop was open, sure, but let's not lie to ourselves -- I got absolutely nothing done. I was too busy yelling advice at professional lumberjacks like I'd trained for this moment my whole life. Tim the Suitcase Regular Rating Breakdown: * Atmosphere: Cozy but with the unpredictable energy of a log-rolling final * Food: Fried pickles that could ruin a man's productivity in the best possible way * Service: Friendly, fast, and kindly nonjudgmental of whatever fever dream I was living in * Entertainment: 10/10 involuntary lumberjack immersion If you're looking for a place where you can lose an entire afternoon under the noble banner of "I swear I'm still working", Main Street Bar & Eatery is the arena. We started with salads and excellent ceviche and "Down South" oysters as we found the pimento cheese and bacon topping to be a fun twist on oysters Rockefeller. We had the 16 and 13 year old in tow and while our kids have open minds and pallets when it comes to food, there were some slight questions about the menu options. There was a kids menu that was standard and I'm sure would accommodate most kids; but, I would say Isla's menu is sophisticated and can be appreciated by a more mature audience. Our 13 year old ordered the shrimp and grits and won the best entree of the night. It's a nice twist using a grit cake as opposed to traditional shrimp and grits but the flavor of the tomato and chorizo gravy along with the texture of the crispy grit cake was an interesting and nice change from the norm. I will definitely go back and try additional entrees. Overall, all the dishes were well put together, well seasoned and paired with a nice wine list that had variety for all tastes. Last, I will say the service was among the best we've had locally. Brandon was attentive, informative and accommodating throughout our evening experience. Thank you to Isla's for a wonderful first experience. I look forward to returning soon!

The interior is really cute and little more upscale with a very cozy fire place in the middle and plenty of outdoor/patio seating. We ordered our drinks and appetizers. Appetizers didn't come out until about 15 minutes later for the crab bisque and a ceaser salad. The soup was good but there were multiple pieces of shell that I was pulling out. Salad was mediocre. After another 15 minutes our burgers came via a different server. They were pretty good! Not the best I've ever had but better than basic bar food. Our server was no longer to found after that. We waited for about 20 minutes and no one was to found. Overall the food was good but I'm not sure I'll be returning due to the staffing issue.

Our drink orders were taken promptly, and when the drinks arrived, they also took our food order -- smooth and attentive service from start to finish. The pita was perfectly toasted on the outside while staying warm and soft on the inside -- absolutely delicious. For our meals, I ordered the Down South Chicken Sandwich, and my girlfriend chose the Korean BBQ Chicken Sandwich. Both were excellent. We cut them in half so we could try each other's, and honestly, I loved both. The flavors, freshness, and quality really stood out. I live in Greenville, and I would gladly make the 50-minute drive just to eat here again. Amazing food, friendly service, and a great overall experience. The food, though? You'd be better off grabbing a box of Spinx chicken and a tall boy. As for the atmosphere--just a few neon lights trying (and failing) to distract from the fact that what they call "hot" is barely lukewarm. Update for the owners response: We ordered the Flocking Hot sauce on our sandwich. What we received was essentially the no-heat sauce with a few pepper flakes sprinkled in. We even asked for extra sauce, assuming there had been a mistake in reading the ticket--but the ramekin was the same: no heat, just pepper flakes. It was mild enough that my children dipped their nuggets in it. Rather than becoming defensive, it may be more productive to address and rectify the consistency and accuracy issues being pointed out.
