Decided to stop in this place after seeing it a few times. The PEOPLE were so nice and friendly. I don't know that we've been consistently checked in on like this in a very long time. They had what appeared to be a very impressive brunch buffet that we will be trying in the future. I had the Fried Chicken (of course), Collard Greens, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned with the meat staying juicy, just as it should be. The mashed potatoes were chunky and delicious, just like mom used to make them. The collard greens though. Oh Lordy those were so damn good. I could have eaten a bucket of them. My hubby had the Chicago Beef Sandwich and loved it. He also said the fries were over the top great! How did I miss this cute local find? Monarch had the best and most friendly service. The full staff was above and beyond nice. It was my first time there but I could tell from the jovial interactions with other customers that many were regulars. We went on Sunday and didn't know it was buffet only, but that was okay. There was a good set of protein options and sides. I loved the baked chicken (other options were fried fish, fried chicken, ribs... and more). The chicken was big portions, well seasoned and tender. I also had the greens (made with turkey not pork!), mac n' cheese, candied yams (delicious!) and for dessert, I choose bread pudding (there was cake too). Such cute decor as well. First visit for Saturday Brunch after such good reviews on YELP. Inside is very small and most tables were full. (11:30AM) we stood at the doorway for a good 10-15 minutes before we were ever greeted or acknowledged. We were led to a small table crowded against a back wall under the TV. This had us practically on top of a table for 8. I felt uncomfortable like we were crowding them getting in and out of their seats. We waited another 10 minutes for anyone to come and bring us a menu. We saw a buffet set up when we came in. When we got the menu it was another long wait to get drinks and place our order (which was to go to the buffet). The Buffet apparently at some time today offered shrimp& Grits, potatoes, sausage, bacon, French toast, waffles, chicken tenders, a breakfast casserole, biscuits and gravy. People were returning to the buffet often. That's because they were out of everything but potato's, sausage, chicken tenders. When something was brought out, (waffles) people pounced on it and immediately they were out again. At no time was the buffet complete with all offerings in the 1.5 hrs we were there. The waffles were cold (refrigerator cold). We were very disappointed. Did not feel like we got our moneys worth ($19.95) thru no fault of our own. Perhaps they had more guest than they prepared for. There were only 2 servers also. We never had anyone bring us more drinks or ask if we needed anything. I can't really review the food because the few things that were out were cold. I had been meaning to try McClellan's for a while and finally went for lunch on a Saturday. They had a buffet option but my friend and I ordered off the menu. My friend had steak and eggs with grits on the side and I had biscuits and gravy with fried chicken and hash browns. Every bit of it was so tasty we each cleaned our plate! The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. I also cannot overstate how kind and friendly the people were, I think we spoke to almost everyone working there and each one was nicer than the last. We will be back very soon! read more

I originally came to try a smash burger, but ended up ordering the lunch buffet of fried chicken, meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and corn bread. My friend and I were looking for another new local joint with a bunch style. My friend said she kept seeing ads for this place on Facebook so we went ahead and went there. Yelp for some reason didn't have much reviews or pictures of the menu so I took a few pictures to kind of give a quick update. Definitely incredible food- we had the lunch buffet which had fried buttermilk chicken, fried catfish, green beans, coleslaw, mac & cheese, baked ziti, and homemade hush puppies wedge. I couldn't get enough. Also, we got something from the menu, banana nut waffle what age was a definitely incredible waffle and glazed bananas. The fried chicken was juicy and well cooked and mac & cheese was very creamy. Green beans were perfectly made and the hush puppies were hands-down my favorite, which is weird because I'm not a big fan of hush puppies. The waffle was perfect, including it was perfect on the sweetness with the glaze, bananas with pieces of walnut. The service was very good and high-quality customer service even though it looked like there was only two people helping all the customers. I am just guy. They opened a business that has high-quality fried chicken and waffles. I know this might sound weird but I should mention the bathroom is very clean and fresh and I know not everyone is picky about that but I am really picky with the restroom. Also, I should've mentioned the restaurant was very clean classy, but has this brunch style atmosphere. We went for Sunday brunch and I was really hoping to be blown away. The food was good but not what I would consider blown away good. The staff were very kind, hospitable and helpful. The fried chicken was my favorite. The Mac n cheese was watery and green beans had a vinegar flavor. The cornbread was delicious. It was $20 a person and not sure if it was worth that but I know costs of food is expensive and was willing to help a new business succeed. Visited for the first time on April 12. I had a choice of ordering from the menu or eat at the buffet. I ate from the buffet and it was delicious. Everything I sampled was awesome....from the buttermilk fried chicken to the fried catfish. The mac and cheese wasn't just cheesy but it was flavorful. I will go again and order from the menu the next time. The food is amazing, but they could use another server as they had one staff member running the register and waitressing.
