So here's the story. We stopped here JUST to stretch our legs before heading into Kingman. We're sitting in the car fiddling with the phone...and a guy (LARRY) walks up to our car and asks if we need anything from the store? I look at the clock. 5:06 pm. I ask if he is closing and he replies "well, yes ma'am". So naturally I jump out and hustle inside to find something to buy quick. I spied pie. I ask "who makes the food" and Larry said he bakes the pie and the carrot cake from scratch. CARROT CAKE. Oh I'm so on it! I have pulled into parking lots and watched clerks lock the door and run and hide as I walked up. NOT HERE. Not at GRASSHOPPER JUNCTION DELI when Larry is on duty! I think that's awesome. And the carrot cake is very good too! Next door to FAT TONY'S Pizza open FRI SAT SUN 2-8. Both are owned by BOB. A friendly gent who enjoys chatting. I've actually entered this deli and pizza place into my contacts so we can actually time our next drive this way, and eat pizza at Fat Tony's and top it off with carrot cake made by Larry...FROM SCRATCH! read more

We stopped and had delicious deli sandwiches made with great care by Larry. We also couldn't pass up his carrot cake which was also delicious. We will definitely stop here again if we pass through. No issues as PAYING CUSTOMERS using the bathroom without being charged extra. I can't even imagine how obnoxious it is for the employees and owners to deal with all the people stopping in to use the restroom without being actual customers or, as we saw two people do while we were there, buy things as close to $1 as possible clearly just wanting to use the restroom. It isn't like it is unusual for a business to have that rule, this business just has to enforce it. There are signs everywhere with instructions and it is hilarious. We enjoyed the signs. read more

Homemade carrot cake was the BEST! I also had homemade chicken salad and the kids stocked up on road snacks of moonpie, combos and whoppers. This is a great spot to stop! Clean, friendly and good food! Allow time to shop the jewelry counter made by local Navajo people. read more

Witnessed what seemed to be the owner run outside and scream at a man for throwing some garbage in the trash can outside the building. The man then dug all the trash out of the can and threw it at the man while screaming at him. continue on a couple more miles and go elsewhere. that's what we did. read more

On a lonely stretch of highway 93 (milepost 53) between Las Vegas and Kingman sits Grasshopper Junction Deli. With half a dozen deli sandwiches and another half a dozen specialty sandwiches (and a small breakfast menu that I haven't yet tried), what stands out is the freshness. If you're lucky, you may catch the chicken salad, but it is only made in small batches and not every day. Quality deli meats, fresh toppings, and daily made side salads make this a great lunch stop. As a bonus, I believe the ladies can give you precise directions to every site (tourist or business) within 100 miles and probably any tourist site in Arizona. Stop for a soft serve cone and a chat -- you may hear of an interesting side trip. read more

Stopped in for a potty break on our way to Kingman. Small store and deli. They have several signs with lots of rules. I thought it was kinda funny. They have lots of people stopping and just using their restroom so now they make you buy something for at least $1. That wasn't a problem because when we were in line for the restroom (told ya) I spotted O-Ke-Doke Popcorn! O-Ke-Doke is a popcorn made by Jay's Chips. We order it by the case from Chicago. It is our favorite snack food and not easy to find in Las Vegas. They didn't have a lot so we grabbed all the bags they had. We lucked out cause while we were there the chip guy came to restock so we were able to get a few more bags. The cashiers were super friendly. This is a must stop for us on every AZ trip. read more

I planned on getting lunch from the deli but after seeing all the hand printed signs telling me what not to do and finding out I needed to spend a dollar per person to use the restroom and then NOT being able to reach the restroom door lock as it is at the very top of the door I spent 2.25 on a soda and left. On my return, I decided to go back in and get something to eat anyway. I was greeted by two small dogs barking at me from the doorway. Someone came out, let the dogs in, saw me but didn't bother to speak to me and went back inside. Not sure but don't think dogs should be allowed inside a place that serves freshly made food and, after being barked at and charged, I didn't go in at all. Never going back. read more

This business is not somewhere I'd ever recommend stopping. They charge $1.00 per person to use their restroom, in addition they also require a purchase of something at least a dollar as well, so in the end you're paying two plus dollars just to use the bathroom. If you're out of cash you and only have a credit/debit card there is, again, another $1.00 fee. There are also confusing hand made signs posted everywhere stating a ridiculous amount of rules. The sandwiches are not fresh and the quality is terrible. If all that wasn't enough the lady was EXTREMELY rude to my uncle and myself. There is a town 10 minutes away, I suggest waiting until then to stop for fairer prices and better service. read more

I have been there twice. The food was OK but the deli clerk was rude and had a bad demeanor for somebody dealing with the public. $26.00 for two sandwich's, two Ice Teas, and Chips. Both times I was informed of where her tip jar was - how tacky! I normally tip 20% but if I need to be coached to tip I cut it in half. Next time I am in Chloride I'll bring my own food. read more

This place looks like it's going out of business. There's no prices on anything! When I asked about a price the lady behind the counter was very rude. Their signs all say NY Deli but they are nothing like any NY deli I have ever been too. They only have the most basic meats. Regular turkey, boiled ham they were out of corn beef and pastrami. They were out of a lot! The sandwiches are way over priced too! You are much better off waiting another 10-15 minutes until you get to the next town. If you want to use the bathroom they tell you very rudely that it's for customers and that you HAVE to buy something. Don't try to be cheap either! They tell you that you HAVE to spend at least $1 per person! read more
