I'm no stranger to parks and beautiful natural places, but Acadia is like a dreamscape. There's…read morestunning ocean views from crumbling gorgeous cliff sides. There are lakes, streams, ponds, scenic lighthouses, boats, bikes, trails, gardens, crazy hikes with vertical iron rungs, rolling forest hikes, lighthouses, and more! The main issue you'll run into is crowds.. lots of people want to come here, especially in July and August. Best thing to do, go in as early as possible, do some things, take a break, go back again after 3. If you're early, you can get a parking spot then work from there. If you are flexible on time, take advantage of the shuttles, but be warned, they may be full, and they don't run every 10-15 minutes, so plan accordingly. I would be in the park by 7, have plans maybe on a tour in Bar Harbor late morning or early afternoon, then head back after 4, and I got to all the must-do's, ie hiked the Beehive, the Bubbles, Cadillac Mountain sunrise and sunset (reserve this early as spots sell out, I booked mine 3 months in advance the minute they released and they were sold out shortly later, especially sunrise tickets), Jordan Pond and popovers, Bass Harbor Lighthouse, as well as some boat tours in the area, including very successful whale and puffin watching. For more hints and tips, I watched some YouTube videos, there's great info out there, especially the videos from Ash, a former park ranger, who has loads of helpful tips to get around and not spend your trip sitting in traffic or waiting in a parking spot.

Its 11pm, we are on route 1 driving from Boston to Acadia with no place to spend the night. Being…read moretoo cheap/poor for a place in Bar Harbor we quickly googled (from stolen wireless of some other hotel) alternative options. This place came up and we called hesitatingly to see if they have vacancy on a saturday night and they did. The motel is ran by a sweet couple from their porch. They man (whose name i forgot) waited for us to check in around 11:30. Yes, the furniture was outdated and there was a weird stuffy smell in the room, but the service was pleasant, free basic bagel & coffee breakfast and cheap and easy last minute booking 15 miles from Acadia. Only down side the wireless is limited and only works from the porch of the office.

I noticed some other reviewers pointed out how terrible the hotel condition was -- the room itself didn't have a problem, it was clean and very cozy. Their main office looked like an antique shop, chaotic but in an organized fashion! If some reviewers wanted to have a crazy clean hotel room with modern decors in this area, they would have to pay at least double the rate this hotel offered. Nothing is perfect, and so this hotel has just the right balance between comfort and affordability. The owners are also trying their best to make improvements on the room every season. Thanks for hosting and keep it up!

My husband and I went, but it was definitely family friendly as well. The hot tub was awesome as well and bigger than expected. They also have a really nice pool. I definitely want to go back soon!! They don't have any microwaves or TVs or anything of course, but there's still lots to do. They have board games in the lodge and their restaurant is actually really good. They also have complementary breakfast. Everyone there from the staff to the other "glampers" were very friendly and respectful. It's very safe and you don't have to worry about leaving your stuff out. They also have individual areas outside of the tent to have a fire, which was so cozy at night and their tea and coffee selections in the tent were well thought out. highly recommend!

We should have touched base with the office beforehand and requested to be closer in proximity to each other, but we were informed that AI assigns the tents for the best, spread out experience. No worries, it's fairly well lit and you can bring your lights at night to walk around. Check in was simple. We were given a ton of information by everyone at the front desk. The tents are very large with electricity and hot water. The bathroom is very large with a double vanity. There are space heaters and blankets, t though it definitely was quite chilly our last night. There is a free breakfast, or you can pay for some upgraded items. If you're heading out early any day, you can grab items for the next day. All staff members were knowledgeable and friendly. We started lots of conversations and were directed many places we had not intended to go. We grabbed some dinner at their restaurant, and it was delicious! Everyone was satisfied! I have medication which has to be refrigerated, and we were provided with a dorm-size fridge at no extra expense. They came and set it up while we were at dinner. I never felt like my items were unsafe, even though there was no lock on the tents. We indulged in the hot tub one afternoon and took a polar plunge! There are a limited number of day packs to borrow, walking sticks, free firewood and fire starters, and just about anything you need. Our friend's luggage was delayed about 6 hours, and once it arrived at the desk, they carted it over to their tent for them. I really didn't know what to think when we booked this, but now that we are back home, and I am so grateful for this experience! Thank you!
