Bunker Seafood and Spirits is a winner. The family pulls into town and needed food pronto! My parents needed lobster and my brother and I needed something to fill our stomachs. We elected for outside seating. Looking out over a bay made you really soak in the atmosphere. Callie was our waitress. She was everyone's waitress outside, short staffed on a Saturday. She is a local so she was able to talk up the offerings at Bunkers. The lobster was an excellent start for the lobster wanting folks in the group. We were able to sit outside on the patio. What a beautiful view! Calli our server was very pleasant and attentive. I had a lobster roll on a gluten free bun, cole slaw,and fries. The lobster (as it should be since we are in Maine) was amazing. Enjoyed a few glasses of Adeline's Pinot Noir - not top shelf but pleasant to the palet. Everyone who lives around here recommended this very authentic and very local seafood restaurant. We ordered steamed mussels and thinly cut onion rings, which seems to be a "local" thing (the thin cut part) for appetizers, and I had the fried belly clams for dinner, which came with fries or mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The joint was packed, and parking was somewhat of an issue, but that's also a good sign... right? The food was good. My husband said the coleslaw was the best he's ever had. The steak cheese sandwich was amazing especially the bun. The calamari was not very good, especially since the marinara was cold. Service was OK. Would have loved to drink refill but the server didn't come by. The atmosphere is nice. This season has brought changes to Bunkers and not all of them are good. Best is the improvement of the back patio. Upgraded tables, expanded back area is great on terrific "downeast summer days". But the menu has shifted to "selling" more alcohol... pages of alcohol... and shrinking the food offerings to near "after thought"... it's not an attractive look. The help is still friendly. But our fried clam meals seemed meager... lacking in plump bellies... and the fries and onion rings glistened with grease. The managerial decisions feel "higher profit" motivated... Why not master a few great dishes and then rest on those laurels? You have a terrific harbor view... but the food should rise to that level. read more

We have driven past this restaurant dozens of times and never stopped because it's at the exit end of Acadia Schoodic and we'd already eaten. Today we made it our destination and it was worth a drive. Such nice staff, beautiful patio, and the food was great. It's casual food for lunch, burgers, fish sandwich, etc. First off, we ordered the seafood chowder. I'm not a chowder fan because so much of it is not homemade or it's doctored up. This one was a nice broth, not heavy, and loaded with seafood (shrimp, scallops and haddock); excellent. Then ordered a burger and the onion rings. Not sure why I ordered them because I haven't eaten them in years and I was so happy with them. Lightly coated, fresh onions, delish. Husband ordered a fish sandwich, fries, and it was great. This is a wonderful restaurant to enjoy while visiting the Maine coast! It's beautifully decorated inside and out with the local flair of the lobster trade. The view out the windows is breathtaking, while the food and service are just as impressive. We had a small party and started with tasty fried calamari and cheese curds. Local Bangor Beer's Disco Sasquatch and Orono Brewing's Wicked Blueberry Ale were wonderful, along with Blueberry Soda. 3 of us had the delicious Lobster Rolls because it was our first visit to Maine, and that was a "requirement", lol. The others had the steak and cheese sandwich and the fried haddock meals. They were wonderful too. Our server, Ceanna, took fantastic care of all of us, and deserves a raise. Came across this restaurant after my first time driving around Schoodic, perfectly located at the end of the loop! It was the cherry on top. Food was DELICIOUS and the view is gorgeous. Also dog friendly, with a massive outdoor area. Also! Please be patient! We had a little bit of a wait in the beginning but keep in mind you are in a VERY small, local town that is usually dead in the winter-despite it being close to a national park. It was sooo worth it. After hanging at Schoodic pt for a while we decided to drive around the coast and come back at high tide. Came across Bunkers Seafood and Spirits and glad we did. Had a lobster roll and upgraded to the onion rings. Id give the onion rings a 9.7 out of 10!! Thin cut fried well, not greasy. Lobster roll was a cold roll and very tasty. Wife had the fried shrimp and they were cooked perfectly. Waitress was personable and quick. One of the owners came by our table and spoke with is a while. Wow what a huge letdown. They were so unprepared for the dinner service, understaffed, kitchen slammed and the food showed it. The waitress tried her best. Hard earned money spent on crappy food- calamari fried right but no flavor, one tiny slice of lemon and cold marinara in a to go cup? Dinner was " steak tips" not at all. My friend and I ate here yesterday for lunch as we were looking for somewhere to eat that had a good view and local food. Bunker has a one page menu filled with your typical Maine coastal fare---lobster rolls, fried seafood, class, oysters, steak tips, pasta, and burgers. We both decided to go with their hamburgers as we read positive reviews. They definitely did not disappoint and were cooked to order. I forgot to snap a picture of the view but they have scenic views of the water as they sit right next to it so you can watch the lobster boats. read more

We ate at Bunker's a week before they closed for the season. The place was unassuming from the outside. The inside was fixed up so cute and the VIEW of the Harbor was beautiful. Our server was very friendly and gave us a brief history of the restaurant. It was closed for 5 years, and this was the first year it's been back open under new owners. The food was AMAZING and so much more affordable than on the main island near Bar Harbor. We decided they have the best blueberry pie we'd tasted on our trip to Maine. I had high hopes for this cute restaurant on the Harbor. But I was sadly disappointed. The fish sandwich that I received had a small tail piece about a quarter of an inch thick for $22. Then one piece of lettuce, pickles, and tomato all were an extra charge. I'm surprised they didn't charge extra for the bun! Switching a house salad instead of fries was on a 4 inch cup saucer. I asked for no onions but got onions. The crab roll was so salty, almost not edible. The waitress made everything worse with dismissive comments and endless mistakes. An AMAZING seafood restaurant in a National Park?!?!?! WHAT?!?! It's true. We rode our bikes through the Schoodic peninsula and stopped in here at the recommendation of our ferry boat team (thanks, Linda and Dan!). We were NOT disappointed. Friendly staff, great waterside seating--right on the harbor! Kids raved about the chicken alfredo but 3 of us split the lobster, crab and special of the day clam roll--all delicious. As soon as we walked in and said we had a reservation the little blonde hostess looks at us, shakes her head and says "no you don't". Lol. We said yes, we do -- and upon checking her landline phone she confirms that yes, we did in fact. It took about 20 minutes for the waitress to get us our drinks, and about 30 for someone to take our order. After an hour after our order being taken we asked a server to check on our food. She then proceeded to make fun of us to the other servers. We then told them that we'd pay for what we got and they can just cancel the rest of our food. Our server insisted we stay, so we did, because we did not want to be difficult. We were all starving so we ate the food when it came eventually, but it was not good. The staff clearly needs a refresher on basic decency and kindness. Crazy thing is, we're not even tourists. Will never be back. read more
