Nice big space compared to some diners we've been to. Even though it was a Saturday morning, we were able to seat ourselves right away. I had the waffle combo, and it was so good! The waffles are thinner than I'm used to, but I has more pockets, which means being able to hold even more syrup. Very good, food is tasty and well priced. Easy for families as it is family run. Good service and they accommodate large groups well. Have a variety of everything so it's a perfect spot for breakfast and brunch/lunch. Parking is a little tricky and I could go without some of the cheesy elvis decor but it's still a favorite spot. read more

Little known gem, perhaps the best kept secret in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. Great food, friendly staff, and rarely a wait. They keep a clean restaurant but could do with a little maintenance. Do yourself a favor and order an omelet. It'll be the best or at least as good as you'll ever have. read more

9-5-19 went to one of our favorite places to have breakfast...got my usual 8oz. ham, bacon, hash browns ,toast. In middle of meal went to cut the rest of my ham up only to find black hairs under the ham. Did what I could to keep from upchucking and finished what I could without a scene. When the Asian owner saw the greasy black hairs she said I should have told her when I found them she would have gotten me another ham. Told her I didn't want to cause a scene and ate what I could that hadn't touched the hairs. The cook said they weren't hers and the owner again said I should have told her when I found them and took the hash browns off the bill even though it was the ham that they were under.We loved going in there, food is good but the way the owner handled it and the cook saying it wasn't hers,lead us to believe they thought we put the hairs there for whatever reason . Pretty sad way for people in the food service industry to handle such a situation. Needless to say that was our last meal at Gravy's read more

This is my favorite place in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area to go for breakfast. In fact, since they serve their breakfast foods all day, my husband and I often order off the breakfast menu even when we go here for lunch. My "usual" is the breakfast sandwich, which I fondly describe as a higher end version of a bacon, egg, and cheese McMuffin. However, instead of being served on an English muffin, it's served on delicious toast. It also comes with a generous serving of insanely delicious hash browns. This is definitely not a place to go if you're looking for a healthy meal, but it's definitely worth the splurge. The only complaint I have is that Gravy's is only open till 2 pm, so this isn't a place to stop at for dinner. However, they do open bright and early at 6 am. If you're into 50's style diners at all, I highly recommend Gravy's. My husband and I surely never leave here disappointed. read more
