I have been a patient of Dr. Nunez since I moved to Scottsdale in 2018. I have had a regular monthly visit each month since Jan. 2018, and each visit I feel grateful to have found such a competent, caring, and attentive physician and practice. Dr. Nunez and his support staff bust their asses for their patients, and it shows. While only anecdotal, Dr. Nunez or a NP/PA or nurse, when appropriate (but 90% of the time, it's Dr. Nunez) has responded to every message I've ever sent through their patient portal in both a timely and responsive manner, which is pretty uncommon. I was also very impressed with Grayhawk's tireless preparation and dedication to ensure they were ready to conduct virtual visits on day 1 of the COVID-19 restrictions. In conclusion, I couldn't ask for more from a primary care physician. If that is the kind of doctor-patient relationship you are looking for, you won't be disappointed with Grayhawk and Dr. Nunez. Also, after reading the few 1 star reviews Grayhawk has on Yelp!, I am amazed at how unreasonable and oblivious some people can be. To then take that deep-seated lack of self-awareness and advertise it next to your name and picture, well, that's just a whole new level of stupid. I've been a patient at the clinic for more than 10 years and have always seen the NP and loved them. However, I recently started seeing Dr. Nunez and so very disappointed. The two recent issues were important to find answers but was pretty much dismissed. First was bloodwork relating to high kidney reading, he told me it was not bad and nothing to worry about. I ended up at a nephrologist and was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. Second issue was severe headaches with eyeball pain. Without any testing he said they were migraines and prescribed medication. I recently was diagnosed with Eye Orbital lymphatic/venous congestion and pinched nerve/artery. The migraine medication does NOT treat the cause. read more

That alone should tell you all you need to know about the years of great, not good, great healthcare he and his staff have provided me. Well, now they have a new PA, Melissa, and she is by far, and away the best PCP I've had ever, not just since I've been coming to Dr. Nunez but long before that. I met with Dr. Nunez in March for a routine physical. I was told I couldn't ask him any questions or there would be additional charges. In our appointment I didn't ask him any questions, however, he asked me several questions. I responded to his questions and then was sent a bill for answering his questions. I have been disputing this charge since March without response from the office. I have emailed them 6 times and called several times and they are not responding. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. read more

Very poor experience every time. Dr. Nunez doesn't seem to care. I was told that my anxiety and panic attacks could be solved by telling my work I need to take 15 minutes to meditate every few hours. I also had an appointment to get blood work and when I showed up to my scheduled appointment they said the lab was closed and told me to go to Sonora quest but don't worry I still paid my copay for the 3 minute visit. read more

If you want a doc who specializes in sitting in a chair and suggesting things you can do with out touching you meaning doesn't even shake your hand when he comes in the room... then he 's your dude, you can get better care else where. I've been a patient of Grayhawk Medical Group for about 4 years. Seeing doctors can be really intimidating and, in other medical offices, I've felt rushed, not listened to, hurried, etc. This is not the case with Dr. Nunez and his practice. I primarily see Brenda, his Nurse Practitioner, who is awesome and has been a God-send for me. She listens, lets you ask a hundred questions (take time to ask them! You have to be your own advocate!), and knows her stuff. I've had positive experiences with all the support staff, medical assistants, etc. It's a clean, well-run facility. Came in as a followup to a sinus infection because my symptoms were still present after 2.5 months. First time I saw NP who was great but she left and so I saw Dr. Nunez for the followup. After keeping me waiting 35 minutes while he talked to a pharmaceutical rep right outside my door (I could hear their conversation), he came into the room and I told him what I've been dealing with for (2.5 months). All he responded was "what did your covid test say". I replied, I didn't know I had to to take one, this was a followup for a sinus infection I had been seen for weeks ago. (No one in the office said I needed a covid test pre appointment either, which made sense since my issue was ongoing"). This "Dr" shut his computer, walked out of the room and said NOTHING TO ME. No explanation just left the room and never came back. He had his MA tell me I had to take a video call from the car. It was very clear that my issues were not a concern at all and Dr. Nunez didn't actual listen to me...as he treated my chronic ongoing concerns as an acute (covid) issue when it definitely was not. I will never be back, and hope you can take my advice not to go either. read more

Will never be coming I've been going here since 2016 and I have never been treated so poorly being told I'm a new patient when I'm not saying they can't see me because I'm 30 mins late when I talked in 1min pass my appointment time and telling the nurse that maybe it was the front Desk who should've called me and made me aware since I haven't been in due to the pandemic and I already filled out all digital paperwork and paid my co-pay online then being rushed through my appointment. Recommended I get x-rays after a car accident. Called me back to read verbatim what the radiologist notes were. I asked multiple times , what does this mean? What are the implications? Can you advise me what this means? They clearly didn't understand the results themselves, and said if I wanted to be consulted on the results that I would need to schedule another follow up with the doctor just to get advised on x-rays results. And we're rude and incompetent the whole way through. They also don't accept American Express, likely the only health care facility in all of North Scottsdale that doesn't. No respect for customer preference whatsoever. read more

Kendra Carter is an actual god send to me. I have had doctors in the past that don't listen to your problems or make you feel crazy for thinking something is wrong. Kendra listens to absolutely everything and explains everything before she does it. She also got my test results back and reviewed in about 3 days, when she told me it may have been a week. Efficient, kind and attentive are the words I'd use to describe her. I recommend Kendra to any woman that is uncomfortable with doctor visits because she takes that feeling right out of you. read more

update: I've discovered the downside to being a patient with Dr. Nunez - his office has a 72-hour SLA to fill a prescription. In a situation when you lose your existing medication or have a pharmacy hiccup, this can mean you are really stuck till he is available to pay attention to the request. He also takes Wednesdays off, so this can mean you are put in a bad situation, and nobody else in the office can sign off on prescriptions. In general, I would still recommend Dr. Nunez but would recommend refilling prescriptions the week before you need them, just in case something doesn't work out. And if it's a medication you really rely upon, fill two prescription months so that you have a backup just in case. read more

I went to Grayhawk Medical for 8 years. Today was the icing on the cake as to why I will never go back. I have a dental issue that needs a sign off by my GP to proceed. I contact GM with the form and I'm told no problem. I go to pick up the form and am told that they will not sign it because the person who use to see me is no longer there and I would need to schedule a visit where the form may still not be signed. With the amount of turnover this practice has I find it very hard to believe that it's not possible for the doctor to look at a persons chart and move on. This place seems very unorganized and I will not be returning. I scheduled an appointment today at 9:40 because I work at 10:30 and then they call me and tell me that the slot was supposed to be frozen after I have already scheduled it. Please update your available times because I actually can't afford to miss work and that was the only available time for me. And then at the end of the call she says I can go to urgent care. Urgent care charges me 3 times more than what I would've paid for this visit. This place sucks. read more

Horrible horrible customer service! I went to Grayhawk Medical because the Nurse Practitioner I had been seeing for several years moved to this practice. A couple of months after she joined the practice I called to make an appointment with her and was told she was no longer with the practice. I should have just said ok and moved on but I needed a refill on my prescriptions. I saw Dr. Nunez and he was very nice, listened and took time with me. My next appt was with his Nurse Practitioner. She was clearly rushed, didn't listen to me and clearly wanted to get me out the door as quickly as possible. I was very disappointed with the interaction. A few weeks later I called because I had a problem with a prescription she had given me. I was told I needed to speak with her medical assistant and I had to leave a message. I stayed home and waited all day for a return call that never came. The next morning when I had to run out she called back and left a message. I returned the call as soon as I returned and was told that she had just gone into a room with a patient. So I had to leave another message. I told the person who took my call I was only available for another 2 hrs and she assured me I would get a call back. I never received a call that day or the next which was Friday. I called again first thing Monday morning and was told the same thing, that the MA had just gone into a room and would call me back. I let the person know I had already called twice and would appreciate a return call. No call. The next day I called first thing again and told them I had called multiple times with no return call. I was told they were busy and that they would give the message to the medical assistant. Again no return call. The next day I called first thing again and told them it was my fifth call and none of my messages had be returned. I told the front desk person I needed to speak with someone right then because I needed the prescription corrected that day. I was close to being out of medication and had surgery the next day and wouldn't be able to get the prescription for some time if it wasn't corrected that day. She was kind and took care of my presciption for me. I asked to speak with the office manager and was told she was in a meeting. I was told she would call me back but big surprise I did not receive a call back that day. If you want a primary care practice that respects and cares about their customers go somewhere else...this is the WORST experience I have had with a primary care office. read more

I do not make a habit of writing negative reviews unless the business truly warrants one. In this case I feel obligated to share my experience with Grayhawk Medical Group. This review is not intended to deter you from visiting the business, but to share my personal experience only. You can make your own determination.... I was looking for a new doctor for my yearly physical exam and Dr. Nuñez was recommended to me by a nurse practitioner I met at a CVS Minute Clinic. I called the office and was treated very professionally over the phone. I was given an appointment within a couple of days of my call. I went to my appointment on December 8th, 2015, sat down to fill out some initial paperwork, and was attended to by the front office staff in a very warm and professional manner...no complaints at all. I went into the exam room and was initially attended to by Rosa, Dr. Nuñez's nurse. She was also very professional, did the typical blood pressure check, weight check, etc... Dr. Nuñez came in shortly after. We discussed my history, talked about my overall health, also some recent concerns about indigestion, reflux, palpitations, stress, etc... Dr. Nuñez proceeded to perform some run of the mill checks....listened to my heart and lungs, stuck a tongue depressor in my mouth to look at my throat, etc... That was about it with the exception of some additional conversation regarding the above mentioned symptoms I had been presenting prior to the visit. Dr. Nuñez recommended an EKG/ECG and a blood draw which were done right away. After the EKG/ECG results were available Dr. Nuñez came back into to discuss the results with me which appeared to be normal. We discussed the predictable outcome of my blood tests, how best to manage an expected out of range cholesterol result, a little more about my history on Crestor, some other symptoms such as foot neuropathy, and so on. That was the summary of events. I left the exam room, discussed payments and expected communication with the front desk, then went on my merry way. This was all on a Tuesday. I was told that lab results could take anywhere from a week to two weeks to come back. That was a little strange to me. I have had blood drawn dozens of times over the last 20+ years and typically most doctors call w/in 48 hours with results. As a matter of fact, I have never not had the actual doctor call me to discuss test results. I was told that my results would be posted on their online portal along with any communications. Two days after the visit I was still having some stomach issues and sent a message through the portal to the doctor as instructed asking if maybe he would consider an antibiotic for my stomach issues. I never heard back. I did get the test results in better time then what I was told. I was notified by the portal on December 14th that my results were in. I immediately went to look at the results, knowing that my cholesterol related numbers would be out of range by a mile.... as predicted and discussed a with Dr. Nuñez during my visit. At this point I had expected to hear from the doctor to discuss going back on Crestor. I waited and waited and never heard anything. I decided to call on December 17th and was told that someone would get back to me. On December 18th I was contacted by Rosa the nurse. It was undetermined what course of action would need to be taken and she said she would send a message to the doctor via the portal as he was working from home that day. She said he may or may not get back right away as he was at home and she was not sure he would check his messages. Today, December 22nd, I still have not heard from the doctor. No determination as to how to treat my cholesterol, no communication via telephone or the portal. At this point I have made the determination that I am not an important patient for this practice. I do not know why as they were very professional during the scheduling process and initial appointment. However the follow-up after the appointment and test results is nothing short of abominable in my opinion. I have seen many doctors over the years as I have lived all over the country and have had to change because of relocations, however, I have never experienced this type of delayed follow-up. This is not what I expect from my doctor, hence will not be returning to this practice again. Dr. Nuñez seems like a nice guy, and professional. His office staff the same. Communication skills are horrible in regards to follow-up, and in my opinion this is critical to good treatment... end of story. read more

Look I mainly joined Yelp after years of reading reviews because I couldn't help but feel like these reviews of Grayhawk Med are really unfair and paint an incorrect picture of the offices & experiences. To blame the receptionist for a poor visit is just unfair. Maybe if she was actually mean or denies clients or makes appointments impossible to schedule (I have had receptionists act very tough with appointment scheduling before). This is not how this young woman is. She is just doing her job. Yes, she takes it very seriously but isn't that better than not caring? She does care. When I had to get copies of my physical for my teaching observations she not only had the files waiting for me when I walked in after calling a few hours earlier, she even offered to fax them for me to my college! She saved me a lot of time and really was so helpful. I'm not saying you have to be her friend or call her up to see how she's doing but she is just a receptionist at a busy medical office and I have to say that she does her job very efficiently and with a smile which is all anyone could ask for. I'm a patient of Dr. Naranjo & have only positive things to say. Recommend this place for medical needs & it's nice to have everything available online and nurses that can take care of simple tests or vaccines when the doctors are too booked. Both my husband and I have been seeing Dr, Nunez for many years, as well as his PA Kendra. Dr. Nunez never has made either one of us feel rushed; he takes as long as needed to go over everything on your mind. Kendra is just as patient and kind. I have complete faith and trust in Dr. Nunez's instincts and recommendations. I like Dr. Nunez and get good medical care and advice at Greyhawk Medical. However today I had a negative experience and I'm so disappointed I just had to write this post on Yelp. I called at 9:15 a.m. and left a message that I'm really feeling ill (sore throat, dry cough for 4 continuous days) and no signs of getting better. I requested someone call me back to see if Dr. Nunez could squeeze me in. No call back!!! :-( I called at 11:45 and spoke to the receptionist. She told me no one has checked the messages as of yet (no sense of urgency detected) and she could hear that my voice was 3 octaves lower but said, "we're pretty busy today, so I doubt anyone can see you."
