Seeing doctors unable to treat patients with the possibility of jail time (up to life) if they do unlawful life saving actions is one of the more frightening events of our time. No matter how one believes it is wrong to allow a person to be so close to death that they have almost no chance of surviving when the Doctors are allowed to give treatment. Recently we faced a situation that the Medical Practice was more concerned about getting sued than keeping the treatment that was so important to my wife and myself. We went into LifeScape Medical simply to have the wax in our ears removed. Our doctor sent in one of the staff to do this simple procedure. Along with her was our doctor's medical assistant who was viewing and learning perhaps how to do it.  Just before my wife lost her hearing in her right ear the person doing the procedure mentioned to the assistant that soon she will be removing skin just as a snake would shed the skin from their body. Just as she showed this removal my wife yelled with pain. My wife then couldn't hear out of that ear. The doctor came in and told her that it will probably clear up in a few days. She sent us to an ENT the next day. He never saw anything so careless. He said that Sandy would need a more specialized doctor and told Sandy that she shouldn't travel on a plane as he couldn't see if there was any damage that would be harmful to Sandy. We were traveling to CT to go to our granddaughter's high school graduation. We did see that specialist and he also said there was no need for this to happen. One doesn't take skin when removing wax. Sandy had 3 such areas of skin removal. He did tell us that it might have been possible for Sandy to travel, but it was too late as the other ENT was correct in his assessment not being able to see under the dried blood the exact situation. Sandy had to put baby oil in her ear for 1 hr before sleeping for one month. It worked and Sandy was able to hear normally. Then, I addressed the issue with my doctor just to let her know that there is a negative reflection on her when she recommends someone who could do something that is not acceptable medical practice. I told her the hurt that it can cause on the patient. I did that simply because Sandy and I loved our doctor and did not want to see anything having a negative impact on her practice. What happened next was appalling. I was told by my doctor that we would have to leave her practice as we lost all confidence in her team. Instead of asking me if we lost confidence this doctor made the decision with the other doctors to get rid of us and in my opinion, it was that they were afraid of us suing the practice. This was not even in our thoughts. We never reached out to council or anyone else to give us guidance. Once Sandy's hearing came back, as we believed it would, we were going to continue with our doctor. Instead we were thrown out to the wolves. It is so difficult to find a doctor who is not fully booked and taking new patients. We have medical conditions that needed continuous treatment, especially by a doctor who worked with us through the preliminary stages and was important for us to be available to help us and give us guidance through some more challenging times that are sure to come. We invested in LifeScape to have them available under severe situations and once it came all the years that we have shown that we are decent people and not one to take a quick payday instead of making our relationship continue to achieve more important results. This group of doctors were not told that they could not do something that could result in them being jailed. They were under their own empowerment to decide to take a possibility of being sued over the health of their patients. Instead of taking an oath to be there for all people to treat as need instead of taking the potential monetary loss (in this case on that would never have happened) being more important than the care of their patient. So far... it has taken them 2 days to get a prescription "signed off" by a doctor and sent over to a pharmacy. Mind you, it still has not been sent to the pharmacy yet. Multiple phone calls later, and still nothing is done. They can't seem to do anything correctly to ease the patient's situation. Every time we called, they kept saying that they are "trying" to get it signed off by the doctor. And when we asked where the doctor is... she says "she's in the office" and kept giving excuses as to why it takes 2 days to electronically send a prescription over to a pharmacy! The level of incompetence here is unbelievable and absolutely unprofessional. read more

I am not a big fan of going to the doctor. I mean, who really wants to sit around in a waiting room when you are miserable/sick and then be surrounded by other miserable/sick folks? I would much rather suffer alone, in bed, with Netflix and blankets. However, that was not an option and I grudgingly researched local doctors. I chose this place based on location - it is close to work and home. They also take my insurance, another big factor. Their website provides all the new patient forms, so you can fill out prior to arriving. Upon arriving, I checked in, handed over my paperwork and insurance info and sat down to wait. They do have a mandatory $60 maintenance fee - this covers administration fees and the like. This is the first doctor's office I have been to that does that. You have to pay this fee once a year, for as long as you are a patient. I honestly didn't wait too long and was called back by a nurse. She took my weight, blood pressure, etc. The doctor arrived shortly after that. I was given a prescription and was out the door. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. I felt comfortable while I was there and everyone was nice and friendly. If I need to see the doctor again anytime soon, I will go back here. read more

This couldn't have been a wiser choice for me. My appreciation for Dr Pozun and LifeScape is based on a number of reasons. I am a patient of Dr. Strohman. He has a remarkable ability to actively listen and understand anything you are trying to express to him, all while quickly typing notes into the laptop during the description of pain, etc.. I've been around the block with plenty of doctors for plenty of reasons. This guy is as solid as they come. He communicates exceptionally well, has extensive knowledge on pretty much all related topics. If you are looking for a Dr. in the area check him out! I have been a patient of this practice from the time it was established. I was Dr Wilder's patient when she worked at their satellite office in Scottsdale (90th st?) about 10 years ago. I had been extremely happy with her and the practice and then the changes started. They established a $60 annual admin fee (not covered by insurance but not a big deal) and then I was given the choice of being assigned to another physician or becoming a "concierge" patient by paying a $1,000 annual fee over and above the regular fees. Since I had no significant ongoing issues at the time, I opted to not become a concierge patient. On subsequent visits I would see a different MD sometimes but more often I would be seen by the PA. When I turned 65, I was informed that the office did not accept Medicare assignment. I am currently seeing a non related specialist where I am given an extensive block of blood tests, etc. Some of this information is sent directly from the specialist to Dr Strohman for the purpose of monitoring my blood thickness and prescribing the required meds. I was recently informed that, unless I came to see Dr Strohman, he would no longer prescribe my necessary blood pressure and other necessary meds. I explained to the assistant who called that he receives the necessary test results MONTHLY therefore I did not understand why I needed to have these same tests done annually at his office. Since I don't drive and must use Uber (or cab), this will probably cost me an additional $150. Consequently his insistence is going to cause me to seek out a new primary care physician. I really hate doing this but I feel I have no choice. read more

I have been a patient of this practice for over 5 years now. I have seen all the doctors. I used to be a patient of Dr. Wilder, however she is only taking care of "Concierge" patients only. Since I didn't want to pay thousands of dollars a year for this service, I had to request another Dr. as my main one. I love Dr. Suedekum, she is great. Very easy going and accommodating. I was told I needed lab work and needed to be fasting. The NP said to just "Come in after 7:30 and you won't have to wait more than 10-15 min". So today I arrived at 10:45. I walked into their building and was surprised to see a line of patients checking in for labs. So I put my name down as instructed, then took a seat in waiting room. A half an hour went by, still sitting there waiting. So I went to the front desk, asking "how much longer?"...I had to get back to work!! So after 45 min of wasting my time, and watching the staff in the back hall laughing and talking to each other, I grabbed my purse, said nothing and angrily walked out!" When your appointment is supposed to be at 8:30, you're 5 minutes early and 8 people came in after you and 8 people were called back before you and you're still waiting at 9am to be called back, the front desk could say something nicer other than some snooty response of "we have a lot of doctors here and we are an active clinic". Have been going to this Medical facility for around 5 years now, and I am so very pleased with all their Doctors, and Staff, and the facility's are clean and very comfortable, they are very accomodating to your needs, I have not one thing bad to say about this facility, I was told that all these Doctors, are former Mayo Doctors, don't know if that is true, but I would say just as good as Mayo, since I have been to their facility also. I selected this practice due to the great reviews. I just wanted a simple physical. Because I could not afford the $3,000+/year concierge service, I accepted referral to another doctor. No problem, only I first had to meet twice with a PA (Norm?) before I could even see her. So this PA orders over $1,000 worth of blood tests and when I return to review them: #1 - the guy is completely unfamiliar with my results or me #2 - cannot interpret the results other than the summaries already written on them #3 - cannot even field simple questions about what the tests were or some of the results! Honestly, I was wondering if this guy ever even took a science class, it was THAT embarrassing. And just to be clear, I was VERY nice & patient with him, since I figured I'd eventually see this dcotor anyway. The visit resumes with this guy recommending several hundred dollars worth of hcg for me! Yes, they are peddling hcg! I then finally got to see the doctor and a nutriitionist, and guess what - they are recommending hcg too! I'm not sure how a licensed doctor or nutritionist becomes an hcg salesperson, but OK. That made me remember how many people had come in to buy products during the 3 separate times I waited for 2 dr. visits & blood tests. I do not mind pricy blood tests & will tolerate a clueless PA, but at the end of all this I smply wanted a good licensed physician to give me sound medical advice, so I was VERY disappointed that my experience made me feel more like a sales prospect than a patient. Even worse, my O.B. took me off everything Lifescape recommended since it was all considered risky and without proven, long-term health benefits. I just recently moved out of Arizona, but I went to Lifescape for three or four years, I believe. I found them because Dr. Pozun was listed as a Top Doctor in Phoenix Magazine back when I was looking for a new doctor. Dr. Pozun is great, one of the better doctors I've had. When she went on maternity leave, I started seeing Dr. Valderhaug instead who is hands down the best doctor I've ever had. After years of begging doctors to help me find a solution to a medical issue, Dr. Valderhaug was like a breath of fresh air. She actually listened and made a plan to try several different things that other doctors had never even mentioned. I also love that Dr. Valderhaug isn't one of those doctors that holds back on tests or prescriptions when you really need them. I actually hugged her at my last appointment because I've had such a good experience with her! Very highly recommended. Also, she has an impressive professional background, as shown on the Lifescape website. The Lifescape office is nice, and they have their own lab, also nice. (This is a big deal for me; there's something unsettling about a medical practice with older, outdated furniture and decor; just doesn't seem clean.) The only reason I give them four stars instead of five is the staff. They seem to have a very high turnover rate with MAs, and I've never been particularly impressed with any of them. Many over the years just seemed like they had no idea what they were doing. Others don't return phone calls promptly. One of the women at the front desk is overwhelmingly friendly (what is she on? I want some!) but the other front desk staff are generally unfriendly if not rude. And unlike what the other reviewer said, I have not been able to get same-day appointments. However, because I've been so pleased with the doctors here, it was worth putting up with the rest of the staff. As I wrote earlier, very much recommended. read more

Blood work order and called office to find that this (MA) Medical assistant NO LONGER WORK AT LIFESCAPE MEDICAL and we still don't have the blood work order from our Dr. Enabling me to go over the results with our dr. I heard about this medical practice because it's right by my work and it's where my father goes. I've been here twice now and I love my doctor. She's very kind and professional and walks you through the exams so you don't feel uncomfortable. They're very good about getting you in same day in case you need an appt ASAP. Their entire staff is friendly. I would recommend this practice to any and all my friends. The only thing is that they charge a $60 administrative fee that they're very clear about on their website and up front on your first visit. This fee accounts for paperwork and the convenience of being able to schedule same day appointments. They are excellent --at wasting time! I booked an appt a week ahead of time, telling them I wanted their hcg. Had to leave work early and drive across town. Met with their nurse for less than 3 min, who told me I needed to first book an appt with their doctor- next available was the following week and then with her again- not available until a week after that. Admin could have easily told me when I booked that I needed an appt with the doc first. They really didn't care. There are too many good places in town with great service (Gazelle, Red Mountain) to deal with this place. They charge $50 for the first visit too. So manipulative. read more

Like most people in this country- I was discouraged with our healthcare system. Finally- for the first time in my life I've found an oasis of medical care that seems to exist for the true meaning of "health care"... Not so much as a business. A clinic with a focus on prevention rather than reaction. A clinic that seems not to be dictated by insurance companies and other special interests commonly found in the majority of clinics and hospitals. New to the area one year ago I searched and found Lifescape which by description seemed to fit my needs very well. I travel a lot and my schedule doesn't allow me to book appointments far out in advance- especially when I'm sick or injured. Lifescape always finds a way to fit me in and get me taken care of. It is so refreshing to be able to email your Dr a medical question and get a prompt response. It really is "One Stop Shopping" for medical care. They have specialists in a variety of important fields under one roof focused on PREVENTIVE instead of the REACTIVE medicine that has become one of the Unitied States largest industries. This is a sample of what Lifescape has done for me over the last 12 months; My complete annual check up. Including a sleep study and stress test. A nutrition analysis that determined what vitamins & nutrition I'm lacking and pointed out many vitamins I don't need that are actually causing more harm than good. I cut my vitamin intake by 70% = less $ and less work for my liver. A successful program to reduce my cholesterol. An analysis of my genes and what diseases I might be prone to with a thorough prevention program.. An emergency Xray of my shoulder on a Saturday with a shot that cured it before a big business trip (by a sports med Dr.). A weight loss plan that has me on track to safely lose 30 lbs in approx 60 to 80 days. Another treatment that is helping get rid of the tired looking bags under my eyes. Another emergency Xray of my broken ribs after an accident to make sure they were not a risk to my lungs- with treatment to help deal with the painful recovery. A consult with their travel department to update my shots like Hepatitis, malaria, typhoid prevention etc before a trip to Central America. There are more visits & treatments that I cannot remember right now but the point is- they make it so easy to take care of your needs- if they don't offer it within the clinic they know the best places to go to get it done. And your history is centralized in one office- so easy to reference and follow up as time goes on. I am self pay with insurance only for major issues like a disease or accident- I added up all my charges from Lifescape with prescriptions and compared that to what I used to pay for full insurance and found that I would have paid $2,600 more if I had paid the year of insurance premiums and co-pays. I don't know about you- but the majority of health care experiences I've had in the past always left a bad taste in my mouth- like I was being taken advantage of by Insurance company's, large hospitals with only profit on their agendas. I always felt ripped off and used feel like a piece of meet moving through a slaughter house. Now at Lifescape I feel more like a human being in a beautiful loving spa style atmosphere. It sounds crazy but I actually look forward to going there- I feel good knowing I'm doing something good for myself. And dare I say that when I check out I feel like I just got a bargain. (Now don't go raising your rates just because of my honesty). Everyone I've been in contact with has been very professional, proactive, patient and caring. The clinic has more of a customer service type culture than the post office / DMV feeling you get at other clinics and hospitals. I have no special interests in this clinic- I'm just a patient with no special relationship with anyone in the clinic. I took the time to write this review because I feel I owe a bit of thanks to everyone that has helped me this year- from the girls at the front desk who always shine with positive energy, to Dr. Wilder for her honest advice that's focused on what's best for me- not her- And for putting in the long hours to make her beautiful image of healthcare work, to Frank and Karin who usually get back to me within an hour and help make scheduling miracles fit within my crazy schedule and to Leah for her cosmetic help and Kim who has set me on the right path nutritionally. Well after finally being seen, I had to update my rating from a 1-star to a 4-star. The medical assistant Desiree was very pleasant and provided an explanation (and an apology ) for running so late. Dr. Valderhaug also apologized upon entering the exam room, and boy was I glad I stayed for my appt! Basically I just downloaded my health history problems & concerns and am eager to get started on my path to wellness! Dr Valderhaug was a great listener, and was very sympathetic to my health issues. She offered advice in layman's terms and even printed up the information we talked about! Nice! I would strongly advise anyone with a serious medical condition looking for a good doctor to NOT buy into the marketing material presented by this office. If you aren't one of the "worried well" this isn't the place for you. There is little ability to refer to specialists (not sure if they even knew any) and was constantly told to just go to the ER......what was the point in paying the $3500 I paid for the convenience fee. Waste of money!! There are many caring physicians in the valley (I've found an AMAZING PCP at Mayo) who will work with those with chronic illnesses and you will not be pressured to purchase supplements or be told that you must not care enough about your health to get better. Once I found the right doctors who did find answers I finally feel better, not cured but better, and I cared enough about my health to know there were more qualified physicians out there and I took the time to research my condition and find the right people......so who didn't care enough about my health? My wife and I were in Scottsdale and she wanted to try Botox. Sensational Skin came highly recommended, and I must say they did not disappoint. My wife had never had Botox before and the doctor was very patient with her, explaining everything to her and answered all her questions. She came out and was very impressed. This is the most pro-active care I've ever had. Thanks to Dr. Strohman my blood pressure is below 120/80 and I feel great. I had thought Lifescape provided excellent medical care. At least that is what my neighbor told me. I paid $3000.00 to see Dr. Valderhaug as a concierge patient. I was told that this was for 1 year of personalized care. NOT the case. I saw her once for a long "meet and greet", and than had one visit. I was ill, with some unknown GI issue. I called numerous times, and was referred to an ER. I was told by my doctor to check the waiting times on the computer to see which ER had the shortest wait times. Dr. V had no hospital privileges. Very nice person, but handing out other doctors business cards, and selling me dietary Supplements and Probiotics was about it. I now have excellent doctors that don't charge me for referrals. Yes, Lifescape did refund my $3000 after I asked them to. But, they wanted $129.00 for my visit with Dr. Valderhaug. I paid them for that. I am seeing a wonderful primary care physician now, who gives me any and all referrals for free. This place is a joke. 2-3 years ago I found LifeScape Medical Associates randomly and started going there since then. Paying an annual fee, I'm expecting receiving services which are at least at the average level; however, LifeScape disappointed me again and again over the years. I have to give credit to their office environment though, it's always quiet and clean, and the receptionists are always friendly. There're a few reasons I don't like it there: 1. I feel like the doctor is always suggesting me with some medicine/samples/tests, and some of them are not necessary at all. For example, the doctor suggested me with a special blood test, twice, saying that the test would be very beneficial for me and my insurance should cover the cost. I believed her and had my blood drawn at their lab. Later I got a bill for almost $2000 (I know LifeScape always charges high prices, luckily I have a good health insurance so i don't really care, but still, $2000 for a blood test is too much! ) I called my insurance company, my insurance company said the test was actually done in a out-of-state lab so they will only pay for a small portion. I immediately called LifeScape and left a message, no one replied. A few days later I decided to go to their office in person, they lied to me that the blood test would just cost whatever my insurance company is willing to pay, and I would not be charged for extra. I believed them and left. But a few weeks later I received another bill. I called them a few more times explaining the issue. They told me that a specialist would call me back, but nobody ever did. I'm really disappointed. How can people trust them if they do business like that!!! What's worse, up to this day, they still haven't informed me anything about the bill, nor the blood test result itself. 2. The waiting time in the clinic is too long. I ALWAYS have to wait there for 30-50 minutes passed the appointment time. I know the doctor is busy, but the patient's time is precious too. I don't like taking my work hours off and just wasting it on waiting for the doctor. And when I finally get to meet with the doctor, I can tell that she is not patient enough. She seems in a hurry, I know she wants to finish up our conversation asap and move on to the next patient. 3. They don't have xRay machines. If you are need to get some xRay or CT scan done, I suggest you going somewhere else, even some small clinics have xRay machines. I normally only write positive reviews online, but this time i want to let people know about what's really going on there.
