NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE - PLEASE DO NOT GO I am long time Greace Monkey customer going to their location at St. George UT. Once we moved to Ogden, I tried using this location at Centerville. No leak became a big leak. Once I got back to the workshop to ask them to fix, they kept changing their story. Its a wearable thing, it on BMW for making their oil pan out of Aluminum, ... and once I got the car checked by BMW and they confirming wrong torque was applied. Then yet they changed their story by saying it was the previous shop (grease monkey) and not us. The manager is a straight liar!! Saying their employee told me the first time I was there that the oil pan was damaged before they touch it. They did not and I have everything recorded on my dashcam and phone. Complained to Grease Monkey and they seem not to care. Taking it as far as needed to make them responsible for their lie and lack of trained staff. read more

I'm not normally one to leave reviews but I cannot stop thinking about my experience here. I came in for a synthetic oil change, and it was immediately clear the attendant in charge of my visit perceived me as unknowledgeable in regard to my truck. For context, my Tacoma is 5 years old with less than 60K in mileage. The attendant recommended both front and rear differential service, transmission flush, radiator service, cabin air filter, AND battery replacement. This location will push services on you solely based on your Carfax report, without verifying any fluid levels or status. At Grease Monkey the attendant told me my radiator, battery, and transmission came back "bad". Mind you, I had recently tested the coolant with a hydrometer, with no instances of even mild overheating. And the battery had a small amount of acid accumulating near the negative terminal that was easily cleaned with a baking soda solution. (Recommending an unnecessary battery replacement is environmentally irresponsible IMO). If you're a single female, I strongly advise against visiting this location as they will likely try to take advantage of you. read more

NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE - Damaged brand new KIA, refusing to help Earlier in 2024 we bought a new Kia Carnival. Time came for our 1st oil change in November and we went to Grease Monkey. They recommended replacing the filter, and since this is the most expensive thing we own and we want to take care of it we changed the filter. Drove down to Vernal during Thanksgiving, and the engine was making odd noises, revving, engine light on. Looked under the hood, NO FILTER WAS THERE. Placed a filter, and limped back home to the Kia dealership with the engine lights on since no one would see us during the holiday break. I spoke with the assistant manager at Grease Monkey and I was impressed with his accountability saying, if his guys did this - he'll make it right. Nich the Manager has been the exact opposite. "The filter was there. We have cameras, we have people that check that ." Great! I'd love to see the video evidence! Why would we buy a new filter in Vernal? "You should have come back to us first" - We were 3 hours away! How could we have? "This is a he-said, she-said" - No it isn't! You said it yourself, you have cameras! Check them! I also have multiple witnesses who looked under the hood and saw a filter wasn't there. And a receipt to prove we bought a filter. Don't you feel any sense of accountability, any sense of wanting to have a good reputation in the community? "This won't affect me. Corporate will make a claim" - Sadly, that's what this will go through. In a strange way, I'm relieved this is a corporate setting, otherwise guys like Nich will upsale you on unnecessary parts, and say they didn't do anything wrong if things go sideways. I just had my oil changed there, very unpleasant experience. They didn't communicate with each other when I told the greeter not to check filters. Then they tried to upsell me with an engine cleaner, saying there was a slug buildup from an oil cap, and I needed to replace my car battery, with the battery being a little over a year old. I did take to O'Reilly's down the street, with a quick terminal clean-up battery was still good. This was my first time back as a customer, where I used to work at the Centerville location when John and Nick started that location, and I had to see what my neighbors were really saying about the place. I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK TO THIS LOCATION. This used to be my go to for oil changes and renewal. My wife went in today to get an oil change and renew registration. They tried selling her a bunch of nonsense services she didn't need, the typical "you need a new air filter" crap and tried telling her her Infiniti SEDAN needed 1000.00 of service "in case she's going to tow something." Give me a break. They then charged her ten bucks to put the sticker on her car, and didn't even put the sticker on. Bullocks. They lost our business over this nickel and diming nonsense. Take your business elsewhere folks! POST-SCRIPT-I called motor vehicle division and asked what they charge dealers for the emissions certificate. 45 dollars for the certificate and the sticker. So Grease Monkey charges an ADDITIONAL fifty dollars for doing the test, and an additional ten bucks for the sticker. Bullshit. Absolute bullshit to pad their emissions like that. I've generally heard bad things about this chain, but I was overdue for an oil change so I gave this location a shot - no complaints so far, but I do recommend checking to see if your oil filter is dripping after you leave. Stay away. Like other recent reviews indicate... this place is not what it used to be. The quality of service has gone downhill. They spilled oil in my skid plate so it dripped for days. They triggered the check engine light for a loose gas cap on my elderly mother's car when she was getting emissions. They wanted $150 for a part that may not fix the problem. I talked to their manager who only wanted to argue and defend the fact it wasn't his guys faults and they were not going to pay for the damage. He took 0 accountability for the engine light being on, and what turns out to be a broken air filter. Save your self the 4 days it took me to figure this out and avoid using these guys. I have been going to the Grease Monkey in Centerville for over 4 years and have had great experiences until now. I went in on Sunday to get an emissions test and was told they fired the tech on Friday and had no one working that was certified. I went back on Monday at 5:33pm and was told they stop doing emission testing at 5:30pm. There were no other cars there being serviced and the manager was outside standing doing nothing. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! My daughter took her car to get an oil change. That's all she wanted, that's all she needed. She is a little naive and very inexperienced and really got taken advantage of. The guy came out to show her the air filters, telling her she needed them replaced. OK, everybody does that so no big deal. But $38.99 for an air filter AND $48.99 for a cabin air filter? The two together at Walmart is less than $25. That's just the tip of the ice berg. Here is where it gets really bad. They did not ask her if she wanted any other services but she was charged for a fuel system cleaner, brake fluid exchange, and rear differential service. Being a very timid young girl, she just paid the $461.21 bill and left. $461.21 AND SHE JUST WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE! Shame on you Grease Monkey for taking advantage like that. read more

I was charged 150 for an oil change. I explicitly asked for just an oil change because my husband is a mechanic. They did a full service but no extras were included. It was stayted that the washer fluid was topped off but when I got home it was not. It also says the lights were checked and I have a tail light that wasn't checked. Would not recommend I definitely felt like because I was young and female I was taken advantage of. Also they tried to have me purchase a new oil cap for 75 dollars I looked it up and it was an outrageous price for an oil cap. I drive a Volkswagen wagon I know it is typically more expensive for service but 150 for an oil change is absolutely outrageous 5w-40 oil costs 20-30 dollars and an oil filter cost between 7-15 dollars. I have no idea how it costs 100 dollars in labor for an oil change.t read more

my husband went to Centerville shop on Mon 12/11 where he asked for an emissions test. He was told the tech had slept in and would be in late, this was an hour after they were open. After waiting there for half hour my husband replied he would leave the car there and left the key . Upon returning over an hour later the car was in the shop and the tech approached my husband after some time and said test machine would not let him complete the test, he would have to call someone on it . Tech then handed paper back which was an insurance card for someone else. He offered no apology or regrets for the waste of time, didn't seem to care. It looks like it should be shut down for the last 10 years the employees walked around like zombies, why you would go here is beyond me. The price is horrible it's not it's not the best around the customer service is in the gutter along with the potholes in the parking lot that they filled with gravel. When I had my truck serviced the techs failed to faster the clips on my air filter housing. I didn't notice until I went to replace my air filter. If that wasn't bad enough when I had my truck serviced again (jiffy lube) I was informed that the oil filter was installed incorrectly and was leaking. I contacted the corporate office to complain. CROOKS! They sticker on the synthetic oil change is incorrect. They told my wife she needed new brakes. I pulled them off to replace them and they were nearly perfect. They would have charged over $500 to replace brakes that will last 2 to 3 more years. The brakes had more than 75% of the pad left. There is no warp on the rotors either. Sure they clean the car when they're done, but you can't trust their recommendations. read more

They greet you as soon as you pull up, running to your car to get your info so you can settle in their lobby with free soda, coffee, and popcorn. Don't get too comfortable though, because they are so quick they'll be calling your name before you know it. To save a couple bucks, I go to their website for a $6 off coupon. Out of towner in for an oil change. Didn't want to wait the 2 hours at Walmart and had another car at this location before. A little pricey $100+ for oil and filters. Drove home and realized a small oil drop (newer car, well maintained, absolutely no issues in the past). No Grease Monkey so took to local shop and found that filter wasn't installed correctly and oil all over inside of hood. Also - in looking at the filter the mechanic said "No way this was just changed." I'll be calling Grease Monkey directly on this one. Shame that they saw an out of state license plate and tried to pull a fast one. The price gouging was enough to steer me away but this sealed the deal. They did fine changing the oil. While my car was there they rolled down the window so it wouldn't automatically lock on them, my car has manual locks so this isn't an issue. The window broke and wouldn't roll back up, which they didn't tell us until after we tried to leave and the car window wouldn't roll up. It was also raining, so our seat was nice and wet. The manager told us to take it somewhere else because "these things happen" and they aren't equipped for anything mechanical, and foot the bill ourselves unless the other place finds out it was somehow Grease Monkey's fault. To find out what was wrong with the window costs an arm and a leg, while lifting the window permanently is a reasonable car maintenance cost. Since they won't pay to fix the window, we chose the cheaper option and now can't roll the driver side window down, ever. read more

Just really like this place. I've never been pressured to change filters or have other services sold to me. They show me the filters. Just a simple "yes" or "no" and that's it. They don't continue with follow up ("well, you know, you really should..."). And that's one reason I've kept coming back year after year. read more
