Paid for the diagnostic test and oil dye.. I waited until 4:30 PM before calling to get an update on my vehicle. That is when I was informed they had not even run the diagnostic on it, and they have until Monday to do so. What is the point of making an appointment 3 months prior to bringing the vehicle in? Found a different shop who specializes in European vehicles and guess what... there wasn't a 3 months wait and worked on the vehicle the day of the appointment.

That said, having just made the first of many credit card payments for work I never would have had done given the full scope of what my vehicle needed, I feel compelled to prevent this from happening to anyone else. While the actual work done here seems fairly competent, the diagnostic process seems about as accurate as playing darts blindfolded. I brought my car in because it was creaking misfiring, and the check engine light was on. I told them that I believed my engine mounts were worn out and that I also needed a diagnoses for the misfiring. They told me that the cause for the misfiring was likely that my spark plugs and ignition coils were worn out, because that usually happens around 100k miles and my vehicle was past that. I agreed to have them replaced along with new engine mounts, to the tune of $2,600. I was told that after this my vehicle would be like a totally different car. The very next day, my car misfired again and the check engine light came back on. When I brought it back, they informed me that they don't have any way of knowing this fo sure, but I probably actually had a blown head gasket. I brought my car to a different mechanic shop who did a full and complete diagnostic from bumper to bumper and took photos of everything wrong with the car- from a blown head gasket to a leaking transmission to almost completely worn wheel bushings and a host of other problems totaling over $8,200 in addition to the $2,600 I had already paid at Red Rock Auto. Had I known this in the first place, I never would have paid $2,600 on a doomed old van that needed almost $11,000 in work done. I had to buy a new van and that $2,600 would have really helped with the down payment. I'm tempted to say that I feel duped, but I don't think there was any malice or fraud going on- just general laziness or incompetence in the diagnostic process that very negatively affected me.

While driving in on Saturday, we heard a loud noise after hitting a big bump on the freeway. By Sunday, while driving around town, we became increasingly concerned that something was wrong with the front end of our Tahoe. Monday morning, with a 10-hour drive home ahead of us, we started calling nearby shops. The first mechanic we stopped at couldn't fit us in, and we were honestly starting to panic. Thankfully, we found Extreme Auto Group nearby -- and they were amazing. Even though we were not local customers, they made time for us, got our Tahoe looked at quickly, identified the issue, and worked incredibly fast to get us safely back on the road. Their kindness, professionalism, and sense of urgency meant so much to us in a stressful situation. If we lived in Salt Lake City, Extreme Auto Group would absolutely be our go-to shop. We are so grateful for the way they treated us and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for honest, helpful, and dependable service.

No leak became a big leak. Once I got back to the workshop to ask them to fix, they kept changing their story. Its a wearable thing, it on BMW for making their oil pan out of Aluminum, ... and once I got the car checked by BMW and they confirming wrong torque was applied. Then yet they changed their story by saying it was the previous shop (grease monkey) and not us. The manager is a straight liar!! Saying their employee told me the first time I was there that the oil pan was damaged before they touch it. They did not and I have everything recorded on my dashcam and phone. Complained to Grease Monkey and they seem not to care. Taking it as far as needed to make them responsible for their lie and lack of trained staff.

I got my car back within two days, such a great turn-around time for such a major repair. About four months later I was having problems again with the car just dying on me. I made it to Elroy again. They looked into it and said there was a connection that was bad, they fixed it and were just going to charge me for labor ($80 I think). they have no idea what they're doing if it's an modified vehicle…read more A little backstory, my truck blew last year around july. i'm heavily knowledgeable when it comes to anything mechanical. i rebuilt the truck from the ground up, with modified high horsepower parts. It hasn't ran at all since then, obviously because i've been rebuilding it. tried starting it, and it was throwing electrical codes, and it's a crank no start. at this point im just looking for a second opinion. so we towed my truck to this place to get it looked at, ONLY needed the electrical stuff checked. before the truck got there, i called them, expecting them to ask a few questions atleast, but all they asked was the model of the truck and what was wrong. day or so goes by, i call for an update and they say they would've rejected me if they knew what was done to the truck, (but they didn't ask any questions??) and that they had no idea what they're looking at. the owner was a nice guy, good attitude, but the mechanic who was looking at my truck? terrible attitude. questioning me, and testing my knowledge on MY OWN TRUCK. considering i took the entire motor apart and put it back together with my own bare hands, im pretty sure i know what im talking about. moral of the story, if you have a modified vehicle or anything aftermarket at that, do not go here.
