The truck has been well maintained and has received full-synthetic oil changes approximately every 5,000 miles. The upselling started when an employee brought out two separate oil-system/engine-cleaning additives. I was told that my engine had mild sludge buildup, with the supposed evidence being some oil residue on the underside of the oil-fill cap. I found that recommendation questionable on a well-maintained modern engine with only 30,000 miles. More importantly, Ford specifically states in the owner's manual that supplemental engine-oil additives are unnecessary and may lead to engine damage that is not covered by warranty. I declined both products. The technician then returned with my cabin air filter, which I had replaced at my previous oil change, and my K&N engine air filter. He told me both were dirty and recommended replacing them. The K&N recommendation was particularly concerning because it is a washable and reusable air filter. I initially thought he might have misspoken, so I specifically asked whether he was recommending that I replace the K&N filter. He said yes. I told him I would clean and service it myself when necessary and declined both replacements. The final issue came after I paid and returned to my truck. The service sticker they placed in the windshield listed my next service at only 3,000 additional miles, despite having just performed a full-synthetic oil change. Ford equips this truck with an Intelligent Oil Life Monitor that determines oil-change intervals based on actual operating conditions. Even the conservative 5,000-mile interval I have voluntarily been following is substantially longer than the 3,000-mile interval on their sticker. Following their recommendation instead would result in approximately 67% more oil changes over the same mileage, wasting both time and money. Any one of these things by itself might be reasonable . Taken together they left me with the impression that this location's service process is driven more by maximizing sales than by the actual maintenance requirements of the vehicle.

I came here hoping to knock out a quick oil change before getting a car wash…read more After the techs spent about 10 minutes trying to upsell me on items from the "inspection" that I didn't request, they informed me that they had already drained my oil but couldn't replace the filter because the skid plate bolts were stripped and they couldn't get it off. This was right after I heard their torque wrench audibly destroy the bolts. They admitted that they had indeed stripped out the bolts trying to remove them. To make it worse they told me that while they wouldn't charge for the oil filter they would still charge me for the oil. I explained that it makes no sense to pay for the oil if I have to go right back somewhere else and have it drained again in order to replace the filter. After arguing they went back down and worked on the bolts and were able to finally get them off and replace the filter. But now the bolts were stripped and they couldn't put the skid plate back on safely! They claim to have called around looking for new bolts but couldn't find any. They did their best to re-attach the skid plate with just a few partially stripped bolts. So now I have to go have the skid plate removed again and reattached with new bolts. And they charged me full price for everything even though they stripped my bolts. What should have been an easy oil change has note resulted in a big headache for me. Avoid this place!

This is my favorite Grease Monkey location…read more In general, I like Grease Monkey's marketing campaign, which is, essentially, "aren't you so glad we aren't pushy upsellers like Jiffy Lube?", and they hold true to this spirit at this location. More often than not they are telling me my air cabin filter is totally fine, and will be good for a while before needing replacement. Because they are honest, when they DO tell me I need something, I believe them, and usually purchase the part or service. They have gained my trust. Because of their transparency in upselling, I come here for so much more than just oil changes now. I get my tags renewed and my inspections done here, I get new windshield wipers, headlight restorations, and any timely or overdue maintenance, which they kindly print out a list of manufacturer recommendations, and highlight the ones I'm overdue for. I will come here for as long as I live in the Jordan area.
