Terrible experience. I came here hoping to knock out a quick oil change before getting a car wash. After the techs spent about 10 minutes trying to upsell me on items from the "inspection" that I didn't request, they informed me that they had already drained my oil but couldn't replace the filter because the skid plate bolts were stripped and they couldn't get it off. This was right after I heard their torque wrench audibly destroy the bolts. They admitted that they had indeed stripped out the bolts trying to remove them. To make it worse they told me that while they wouldn't charge for the oil filter they would still charge me for the oil. I explained that it makes no sense to pay for the oil if I have to go right back somewhere else and have it drained again in order to replace the filter. After arguing they went back down and worked on the bolts and were able to finally get them off and replace the filter. But now the bolts were stripped and they couldn't put the skid plate back on safely! They claim to have called around looking for new bolts but couldn't find any. They did their best to re-attach the skid plate with just a few partially stripped bolts. So now I have to go have the skid plate removed again and reattached with new bolts. And they charged me full price for everything even though they stripped my bolts. What should have been an easy oil change has note resulted in a big headache for me. Avoid this place! read more

Ethan took great care of us! We went in to get an oil change and a transmission service. Ethan informed us that at this time they don't have the proper equipment to preform the transmission service, and although they may be able to find another method, he wasn't 100% certain and didn't want to waste our time. We appreciated this, because nothing is more frustrating than sitting for 15 minutes only to find out the service cannot be preformed. He then went through the checklist and was very honest with us about what exactly we did and did not need. We felt Ethan is a trustworthy, educated and kind employee that takes care of his customers. After a massive failure from another place that offered "come and pick up your car" service, I decided to do the next best thing: find a place where I could just stay in my car for an oil change and minimize the risk of COVID exposure that way. I dialed up the Yelps and this is what I found. Located (more or less) in the parking lot of the Hobby Lobby and Lowe's at Quarry Bend, it's a pretty nice spot and I don't know how I never noticed it before. It's a bright located and when I rolled up on a Friday afternoon, all bays were empty. I rolled in, and as soon as my tires rolled over the bell cable, someone came out to the bay to guide me in. I parked, and we went through a check of lights, blinkers, and so on. All systems checked. We popped the hood, and they began checking fluids and looking at filters. My stuff is all pretty new, so there was no upsell here but YMMV. There's a screen you can look at next to your car, and it shows the mechanic underneath, and what he's doing. There's also a timer telling you how long you've been there, and I asked the designated interface dude who told me if it's a simple car that is warm when it comes in, the oil drains fast and their record is like 4.5 minutes. Since I have some hardware on the bottom that needs to come off, and a little more tricky oil filter, I ended up there for about 15 minutes. I gotta say the tech running the payment and interface was super friendly, and we chatted about all kinds of car things. The whole crew was super professional (but still joking with each other) and I was really impressed with the operation. My normal place is about $10 cheaper but doesn't have the drive-thru option. It was $80+ for full synthetic, but I also require an extra amount due to the engine size. Look on their website as I think they almost always have a coupon going. Lickity split I was out of there, no human contact, safe and sound, and I'm good for several more thousand miles. read more

The technician in charge was Joel. He went above and beyond to provide excellent customer service. He kept me informed and was extremely knowledgeable. I recently had an oil change at Valvoline instant change express at Fast Freddy's Sandy, Utah/Quarry Bend. Everyone was friendly and helpful. When trying to reinstall the skid plate which must be removed to service the engine, there was a mishap(things happen) which required a new skid plate. Unfortunately the skid plate was improperly reinstalled on our 2022 MDX. Causing it to suddenly tear loose on the interstate. You can only imagine what this was like. We do feel fortunate that this didn't cause far worse damage. Certainly understand that mistakes are made. My real issue is with the lack of follow through and seemingly lack of any true concern for the issue. As most of you, we pay a premium to have our car serviced at Valvoline. Did more harm than good. Went in for a simple oil change. It took an hour and the technicians stripped my oil pan cap trying to get it off. Did not offer any type of customer service and made me pay full price. Told me "go get a new oil pan" after they were the ones who damaged the cap. read more

Their complete service is worse than nothing at all since it gives you a false sense of securiy and not much more. Discovered that my transmission fluid which I thought was being checked every time I came in was almost a quart low. Now I'm having transmission problems. Also, now that you just sit in the car as they work, saw that they only check one tire for pressure. Their predecessors must have been doing the same thing so while I was confident that all the tires were properly inflated, one of my tires got down to 10 psi and wore out prematurely. Got an oil change at this location Friday and was told my registration was expired. I requested an emissions test in order to register my vehicle. The car (an older vehicle but well maintained) failed for high CO at idle. Reading up on the issue, I changed the air filter over the weekend and returned Monday to retest. The techs (3 of them running around in a fairly comical fashion) took nearly 40 minutes to set the test up. Well, the car failed again for high hydrocarbons and CO this time. Both results were way over what the test showed Friday. Strange...same car, tank of gas and tester but two wildly different results. I called BS and took the car to the Honda dealer that afternoon. It passed with flying colors. Moral of the story...stick with oil changes if that is what you are good at. Don't attempt things you are not trained or experienced enough to do. read more

I called to find out how much a conventional oil chnage would be. My husband told me to get 10W30 valvoline oil The guy on the phone was nice and told me $39.99 and sent me a $10 off coupon through email. I went in later that day. They were nice and greeted me I told them upfront I had a $10 off coupon and told them the oil that I wanted 10W30. He didnt say anything about pricing or anything. At the end I was planning on paying $29.99 with my $10 off coupon. The guy told me $82 something... It total took me by surprise... They guy said the oil I got was synthetic oil. I told him my husband said it is a conventional oil. He argued and said there it is considered synthetic oil. I feel like I was taken advantage of for being a woman and that I had a coupon that was given by them. My husband has worked in the auto industry for over 25 years he knows his stuff. My husband has usually done my oil changes and with his new job he had no time and no place to do it and told me to go get it done. Just told me to be sure to use Valvoline oil and 10W30.Thats what I was trying to do. My husband wasnt happy and said they ripped me off BIGTIME. read more

I've always gone to Valvoline when I lived in NC but when I first moved to Salt Lake I went to a jiffy lube because it was closer. They tried to talk me into a lot of pricey extra services, saying my car NEEDED it. The oil change alone was 2x as much as I usually pay at Valvoline so I turned everything down and told myself I'd get it done in a couple months. I decided going back to valvoline was worth the drive, so I went and was fully prepared to do all the services that jiffy lube convinced me I needed a few months ago. The people at valvoline changed my oil, told me I wouldn't need an emissions test to register my car here since it's so new, and informed me that my air filter was fine and likely wouldn't need changed for another 10,000 miles. I know nothing about cars, so it means a lot to me that the people at Valvoline never try to take advantage of me and are always honest about what my car needs. They got me in and out really quickly and were super helpful. I'll definitely sticking to only using valvoline for my services in the future! read more

I had to give them more than one star because the gentleman who I talked to primarily while getting my oil changed was very helpful and knowledgeable. Though I asked for my tires to be filled to a specific PSI and it almost seemed like when I made that request, it hurt his pride a little bit, like I was questioning his capability. But I'm glad I did request it because I came to find that they planned to return my tires to the OEM specifications which would have been far too low for my aftermarket off-road wheel and tire setup. Other than that, my visit went very well. It wasn't until after my visit that I had a problem. I drove several hours the next day to Lake Powell in very hot weather. I parked my truck and spent a couple days on the lake. I returned to my truck and turned it on while loading my gear so that the A/C could get going. While I was outside listening to it run, I noticed a knocking sound coming from the engine. I opened the hood to see if I could identify the sound and immediately discovered the problem: the big plastic movie theater cup shoved down near my exhaust headers, beneath my oil filter. I pulled out a melted mess that was dripping oil everywhere. I know what the practical use of this cup was during my service, but am furious that it wasn't removed. Especially after watching one of the workers survey my engine bay to make sure it was all good to go, look directly at me, give me a thumbs up, and closed my hood. To me, this is a display of laziness and unprofessionalism. I have long been a patron of Valvoline, but I will not be returning to this one. read more

I love this place! Everyone is always so nice, professional, and quick. You just drive through and sit in your car while a team works on it. They check my filters, lights, and top off the fluids for free. If something needs changing, they communicate in an courteous manner, showing everything that needs done (like a filter).
