This is my go to place, when it come to getting my car taken care of! These guys are fast, friendly, and informative! They always greet me with a smile, and ask exactly what I need! What I love most about then is that they never try to sell you anything extra like most mechanic places, they just do what you ask and get the job done fast! Unless it's something that's really bad and needs repairing ASAP they will let you know and are very honest about it! I get my oil changed here and it's about $26-28 bucks for a basic oil change and filter. They are really fast and most time I get out in under 15 minutes. I never think of going anywhere else! I also got my front brakes fixed here, and they got that done in less than half an hour. It was about $200 bucks, but it NEEDED to be done as they said I had about 2 weeks left before it could cause some bigger problems. They also pull the car out for you so you are ready to roll out after paying! Customer service at its finest! I also know they have a car wash and that they have a ladies day and a gentleman's day where they have a cheaply priced car wash, I think it's Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I used to love Grease Monkey and trusted them with my oil changes, inspections, and other car maintenance. Unfortunately, my last experience completely changed my mind. A few weeks ago, I went in because my brakes were squealing. They told me I only needed new brakes, so I had them replaced. About a week later, the new brakes started squealing again, even louder than before. When I took my car back, I was told they would not warranty the brakes because I did not replace the rotors. The problem is, no one told me I needed new rotors when they originally did the brake job. If replacing the rotors was necessary for the brakes to work properly or be covered under warranty, that should have been explained before I paid for the service. Now I am out the money I spent on new brakes, and my brakes are louder than they were before. I no longer feel that Grease Monkey stands behind their work or fully explains important information to their customers. I was really disappointed in the service I received at this location. I had an appointment at 5PM for an oil change, it took over a hour to complete.. and it wasn't busy because when I got there the girl was outside with her BF, and the other two guys were just sitting down inside chatting. Aside from that I spent $114 dollars and got my car back with some pieces missing from where they took something apart to look at the air filter ( I'm assuming) and left everything on the ground for me to put back together and clean up. I came in for a re-inspection today. They failed my tires a few weeks ago because the outer tread wear showed red on his gauge (the red on the gauge was the thickness of a sheet of paper but red is red, I get it). He showed me on three different locations on one tire, two passed and one failed. The tread wear bar showed no signs of wear (it was close, but no sign of wear). Then he tried to sell me a set of tires (No I didn't fall for that). After leaving there, I went elsewhere to have them check my vehicle. They passed my tires with no problem and informed me that I would need to look into getting new tires soon. They even took an extra couple of minutes to find that one spot on the tire Grease Monkey failed me on. I bought my tires from them, and since I had paid Grease Monkey for my inspection, I took my car back there as instructed by the young man that failed me. He said they wouldn't need to pull my car back in the bay, they could inspect my tires in the parking lot and enter any information needed into the computer. Unfortunately, that young man wasn't there today. The gentleman that greeted me in the parking lot today understood that I was there to get reinspected for my tires, so I get out to go inside to inform them as to why i'm here. I see him driving my car into the bay, so I stood in the window watching every move they made and very perplexed because they pulled my car in the bay for no reason (unless the only way they can enter the information into the computer is if it's in a bay). so after a few minutes of watching them walking around my car and looking under the hood. Another young man(he has cashed me out before) and a Lady (I think was the manager) came in, I asked the young man why did they pull my car in, when all they needed to do was inspect my tires. He gave me a corporate answer " he's re-inspecting it" well, I know why I came back there, so that wasn't an answer at all to me. So I began explaining to him that the tread on the tires is going to be the same and I didn't understand why my car was in the bay. I guess the lady began to hear my frustration and concern, so she came over and spoke to the cashier, by that time they were pulling my car out of the bay and back into the parking lot. 1. If the young man would have been honest, I would've purchased my tires from them. 2. I know that the vin number is under the hood, it's also in the door jamb. So having my hood up in the bay to check my tires is very questionable and makes me feel very uncomfortable. 3. Suggestion: Train your employee's better. Repeating to the customer the reason why they are there does not constitute answer "he's re-inspecting it" isn't answer I know why I'm there and my car didn't need to be pulled in a bay to see that the tires are new. I came in for an inspection and my oil changed. My car passed inspection supposedly. I was on my way home when my cars engine literally seized up on me. Had to get a tow home. one of grease monkey's employees did not put oil back into my car when they changed my oil. It cost me $120 for a tow home and all the extra money I lost because of my vehicle being broke down it's hard for me to make money to even fix this. An engine for my car is literally $1200-$1800 and that's for a cheap one. read more

This is the worst place to take your car. I get there on a Sat. At noon for an oil change and to get my brakes pads changed. I was there until 630 pm. When I thought I was done.... I paid and was leaving thinking my car was fine.... The guy says ok so the dash brake light won't go off so on Monday you need to take it to our sister store a 30 min+ drive away! I was like what are you talking about???? He said they didn't have the tool that they needed to reset the electrical system to get the brake, transmission and others lights to turn off. Mean while I drive away and every time I brake it makes a horrible noise. I take it there on Monday and sit and wait for another hour plus and the mechanic finally says.... I think you should take it to a Ford Dealership because I can't fixed whatever they did. Oh and said be very careful driving because you only have 50% on your brakes. I called Ford and they said I can bring it in Wed. I take it in and Thursday evening they say I can pick it up. I had to borrow cars to take the kids to school most of the week and on top of that I had given the mechanic a bag to put in my car... since it took so long I went for a walk and stopped in a store and bought a couple things. Of course the bag wasn't in my car and the manager said " I'm sorry I don't really remember"! I was your only customer for 6 plus hours and you don't remember???!!! Really. I guess one of them liked what I purchased and took it home. They did pay Ford for fixing it, but don't care about my time, energy, irritation and not having a car to take the kids to school Mon-Thursday! The staff was friendly, the weight was a little long, but I expected it around this time of year before everyone started traveling. When I went to check out the supposed manager, was curt & somewhat rude, like I was trying to get over on them, when the first agent offered to let me use them as a courtesy. I visited grease monkey yesterday and called before I came to make sure they would have time to do an oil change. I left my car with them and when I came back after eating lunch they were still working on my car. A guy came to me and said they drained my transmission fluid because the plugs were beside each other in a Suburu and it was confusing. He acted like this was not a big deal and told me I would have to wait while they ran across town to get the right fluid. My car is brand new and only has 4500 miles on it. They did not seem very applogetic until they realized I was very upset by this which they then offered a 50% of my oil change. This caused me to be late to another appt because I was told that I would be in an out within 30 minutes and I had my car there for 2 hours. They also did not call me when this happen to warn me so I had my husband drop me off and I had to wait the entire time while they fixed their mistake. This is a chain and should have more competent mechanics then this. read more

I get catching people on a bad day, but this was just ridiculous... Heard nothing but good things about this place, so I decided to give it a try. Months back I got an oil change with no issues- it was reasonably priced and they didn't try to coerce me into any other services like other automotive places do to people like me who have no idea about cars. I was specifically told that this shop was great in that aspect, and that I would be fine going in by myself again to get another oil change with them. This ended up being the worst experience I have ever had trying to get an oil change and inspection. Shortly after arriving I was told that there were tons of things wrong with my car. They showed me a paper full of services and pointed out that they were "overdue". I knew that this couldn't be right, so I called someone who knew my car better and had them discuss with the employees what was necessary to fix and what was not. The employees coerced them and myself into still going through with nearly all of the services, telling me that my car wouldn't make it safely and that they would personally have all those services done if it was their car. I trusted them, because everyone I knew who took their cars there told me they were trustworthy and wouldn't take advantage of me. I explained to them further that I wasn't expecting so many services and needed my car back before 11 (it was 8:30 when I went in). They insisted that the car needed the extra services and that they could have it ready by 12. In the end, they ended up wasting my time. I called them prior to 12 to ask if my car was ready, and they said it would be ready at 12:30. I show up at 12:30 and I'm still waiting. 1pm rolls around and I finally get the car- only for them to come up to the window and say, "shoot, I forgot to do the inspection". I'm then told, "it'll only take 10 minutes, I'm so sorry about this." So I give them back the car and wait. They pull my car around so that it's behind two others, meanwhile one of the garages sits empty. I ended up calling my fiancé to pick me up because I had a sneaking suspicion it would be more than 10 minutes. While I'm waiting I see employees going in and out of my car with no mask on, which is just absolutely disgusting considering we are in the middle of a pandemic. But I digress. I get the car at 2pm, only because they decided to disrespect me further and place newer customers before me while I'm literally waiting on a curb for someone to pick me up. So at the end of the day, they breached COVID-19 guidelines, took advantage of my situation to upcharge me, and lied about the time it would take to service my vehicle. Found out afterward that they recently got new management. Personally, I don't think this new management holds any of the same values the previous owner did. Half of the services they coerced me into, a trusted mechanic back at home told me were not necessary at all, and that they had squeezed a extra $300 out of me for nothing. read more

I had to get an NC state inspection and an oil change done and the guys at this location did a ridiculously (and I mean, ridiculously) impressive job. It was like being at a NASCAR race, where the driver pulls up and an entire team gets started to working on the vehicle. The staff is personable, informative, efficient and thorough. They weren't pushy on trying to sell me things I didn't need; they didn't try to nickel and dime me, and YET they still went above and beyond in their service. First time customer. Found a $20 off coupon and was told upon arrival that it wasn't for the oil change package I thought it was for. I was able to find another $10 off coupon for it. Service states a 16 point inspection on top of the oil change. I specifically inquired about checking tire pressure because one of my tires were low and my low pressure warning was on in the vehicle. It was also mentioned that my vehicle would be vacuumed. Once the service was finished, I received my bill and for 13 of the 16 inspection points, it says "unchecked". I asked the employee behind the counter if they were checked and he stated they were, but must not have been entered properly. Once I returned to my vehicle, I saw that my tire pressure was still reading low. I asked the employee and he said they "Must not have reset it." After driving away and getting home, I realized that my tire was still, in fact, low. My vehicle was not vacuumed as advertised, and am now unsure that anything else aside from the oil change was actually completed. For a $60 oil change, I would expect better service. I am dissatisfied with the service that I received on my first, only and likely, last, visit. On a positive note. The gentleman who cashed me out was polite. read more

I guess this place is under new management or has been bought out. All of the lovely old employees aren't there and the new staff isn't anything like the old. NOBODY WEARS A MASK. The old staff put a plastic cover on my steering wheel, seat and wore a mask when they took my car. The new staff doesn't do anything of that and walk around the place with no masks, invade personal space and break the 6ft social distancing guidelines. Will not be going here again. So, we took the car in for inspection. Shop said their machine had been running slow all day and that it would be about an hour. Not a major problem as we had other things to do anyway. Left the car and also requested the tires be rotated. about an hour and some minutes later we receive a call that the car is all ready to be picked up. however they where unable to do the inspection as their machine is now down and doesn't work. They did however rotate the tires. we go to pick up the car and asked while we where there if they checked the pressure on the tires. they said they did and they added air to one of the tires. This was a complete lie. OR! whom ever did the work thought they added air. all the tires where at the same pressure as they where when we took the car in. Including the one tire we knew needed air. the TSP system shows that tire at 28 PSI. I don't understand how they can simply over look something that the car tells them and how they can look at us and tell us they added air and all the tires are fine when in fact this is just not true. I now have distrust and will likely never return to their shop. I don't let untrustworthy people touch my cars. read more

August 2019, my first time visit to the Grease Monkey for an inspection and oil change. While sitting in the waiting area I watched and listened to the employees tell two other customers their vehicles weren't ready and tried to sell them auto repairs. Then it was my turn and they did the same practice to me. Their inspection computer is reporting my vehicles "is not ready" yet they could not tell me what that non-code reading meant or how to fix it. Just told me I should call the DMV, but a second inspection failure would cost me the inspection fee if it didn't pass inspection. My 2009 vehicle that has never been denied an inspection before. Also, all of a sudden, I needed to repair a non-working headlight that they would be happy to fix for me, coincidence, I think not. They also charged me to an oil plug that was bad after they changed my oil. They also upgraded my oil (over & above) 5w40 and charged me extra for that, while clearly saying the wrong oil was being used in my auto with every past oil change, really! Went down the road and past inspection, No bad readings, No head light issues, no being over sold and lied too. First time and last time visit. I will ever do business with this establishment again. read more

Stopped in for an oil change and lube. They did a good job and did it fairly quick. I did have oil on my driveway when I got home and parked (maybe they didn't wipe it down as good as they should?) They were friendly and the place was clean. They did attempt to clean the windows, I had to clean them when I got home as there was cleaning solution spots on it. The price was a little more than I would call reasonable (32 dollars for a 4x4 truck). If you don't mind making an appointment, Kernersville transmission on 66 (bodenhamer) will change the oil for 10 bucks. If you're in a hurry, this place will do. read more

I've used this location since relocating to Kernersville five years ago. I was very happy until management changed: they have all new guys working there now. I decided to give them another chance to do an oil change, tire rotation and emissions. I needed a new air filter which I agreed to purchase. Then the manager sends the technician back to say if I go ahead and get the cabin air filter done too, he'll knock ten dollars off. WTH? I am negotiating for car care now? I went ahead and did it because I was leaving out of state the next day and wanted everything in check. I head out the next morning and realize the two tires on the drivers side have 41 pounds of pressure (it registers on my digital car dash) and the two on the passenger side are at 33. So there I am at 5am, releasing excessive air from my tires so they don't wear unevenly. This may have been a simple oversight, but as a single woman, it feels malicious to have tires grossly overfilled on only one side of my car. Needless to say, this will be my last visit to this location. Prior to the management change, this was a 5-star place to have car work done. read more

ok so took car in for an inspection and tire rotation. first there were about 5 employees in the service bay just walking around like zombies not doing anything. there was only one other car there so they completed my car in a timely manner. when checking out i had to tell the guy they rotated tires because they didn't,t tell him. had him double check to make sure. two weeks later i noticed one of the lug nuts was missing. i called them and the girl said i could buy one at an auto store. i said she should pay for it , she put me on hold and a man got on the phone and tried to say it probably came in missing? after i told him the wheels had never been off the car since it was new and asked if the car came in missing it why didn't the mechanic tell me that? anyway after some back and forth he said he would order it and call me back. that was three weeks ago. let me remind you that there is a auto zone in the same parking lot! i wouldn't trust their work and am not going back! read more
