I got my green Nissan in GAAC for a rear damaged door and a scratched front bumper. I was mostly concerned about their ability to match the uncommon color of my car, and to blend in between the existing and new paint without making it obvious (I've seen bad repaint job done on other cars not handled by GAAC). With some minor delay due to their busy schedule, I can tell you that the wait was all worth it... The car looks so brand new I'm now afraid to drive it and ruin their beautiful work! Two-year update Two years ago, I took my car to Great American Auto Service Center for body work and paint job. As I mentioned in my previous review, I was very pleased with the work they had done. The body work and the paint job were excellent. My twenty-year Corolla looked like new. But there always be sceptics who will question the state of the paint after 6 months. That is why I want to update the quility of the paint after two years. The qulity of the paint is in excellent shape, there are no loss of gloss, peeling, chalking, cracking or wrinkling. Wow! Amazing experience!! My bumper fell off and I lost the grill and it was a whole mess. I received a recommendation from Ephraim at Mountain-view tire and service inc. to bring my car to Great American. I am so happy I did. We received quotes from three different places and Great American gave us the fastest quote (George-manager/ appraiser, throughly looked at the car and had our quote in about 5 minutes) and also the best price. In hindsight, I'm very disappointed in the quality of work performed by this shop in the restoration of my 1973 VW several years ago. I paid around $7k for a strip down, primer and paint with some body repair. Having never done this, I will admit to being naive about restoration work. Years later and learning a lot more, I realize what a poor job that was performed. I'm living in Reno now and I have several professional bug shops and they all point out what a crappy paint job I paid too much for. Paint and primer choices resulted in bad bubbling on the hood and wheel wells, was not stripped down to metal on the interior, original color is peeping through in places. While John said he addressed the bubbling on the hood by repainting, the 3rd time it happened now, it's obvious there's a primer reaction that keeps happening. I'm bringing this up now because I'm now looking at having the paint fixed and the costs involved vs what I paid shows that I was overcharged for the quality and lack of attention to detail. They probably do fine insurance work. But I do not endorse them for quality paint work on classic cars, regardless of their historical work. read more
