Delicious cookie cake prepped for us in under an hour. Employee helped pick colors and design over the phone and Daughter loved it!
    Kel V.

I come to this spot often. Whenever I visit any mall I usually look forward to grabbing a slice of cookie cake (I love chocolate and the slice with the chocolate icing is my favorite). This review is for the WestbAnk, Oakwood Mall location. The slices of cookie cake are more expensive than the other cookies, but with reason - because these are more delicious! Taste test and you will see that there is a significant difference in the flavor of cookie cake and just the cookies. Any who, service is always very fast. The employees behind the counter are always busy at work but quickly respond to fulfill your order. I've always had good service here, which it's a quick enough visit so your service really shouldn't be anything less than good. Also, in malls and stores with many less experienced workers, you often get inconsistent customer service for so many reasons, but my service here has always been good. Lastly, my most recent experience with this shop was ordering my daughter a cake at the last minute... literally maybe 1 hour before I needed it. I called and ordered over the phone because there was a mix up with my original baker and I was running errands preparing for a party, now with no cake. 1. They answered the phone. This hasn't been an issue for me in the past either. 2. The young lady who answered was polite and patient with me. 3. My order for a cake was taken over the phone without the need for prepayment. 4. The young lady offered me suggestions on colors and designs, told me what was available and what wasn't available (they were out of the largest cookie cakes). 5. She verified the name and writing I wanted on the cake and promised it would be ready within an hour. 6. When I arrived in an hour, my cake was ready and it was exactly what I didn't know I wanted lol! Also, there were many freshly made cookie cake orders, so I was very happy and appreciative that she took my order along with those and not only fit it into their busy schedule, but also had it ready for me on time! So, I've always rated them top quality and good at customer service, but this experience warranted a review. I wish I could remember the young ladies name who helped save the day! I know I could have grabbed a cake from Rouses, but Great American Cookie Cakes are one of kind! For those who don't care for chocolate, there is a variety of cookies and treats, yes mostly chocolate but not all. There are also a few Icee flavors! The kids love to get icees when we go here. The only other place I can usually find icees is at the movies so this is a nice spot for a cold, delicious treat. Lastly, there are often great coupons and promotions to get discounted cookies from here, which is helpful because these cookies are kind of expensive. But you 1. Get what you pay for and 2. Aren't really supposed to be eating this every day anyway! It's a luxury treat, so the price point is understandable. Hands down Great American has the most delicious cookie cake. I don't know what their trade secret is on this recipe, but I surely hope the company doesn't change the recipe at all!

Everything on the menu looks fantastic and sound even better but I decided to get the original stuffed praline muffin with frozen custard to try some of everything. It. Was. Delicious! The banana bread muffin was moist and definitely would've been good alone. It was topped with crushed nilla wafers, homemade custard, caramel sauce , and homemade whipped cream. I had the frozen custard on the side. I INHALED that dessert! I would make a trip back just for that stuffed praline muffin. The best part is that it was prepared with love. Ms. Ahreal was so sweet and felt like family as she put the dish together. I highly recommend stopping here.

The best dessert I've had this year can be found at this sweet shop, their Strawberry Supreme with Cake will blow you away! Homemade strawberry custard layered between strawberry cake, bananas, and marinated strawberries, topped with Jack's wafers and Biscoff cookies. This is a dessert you will not want to share. They also carry some gummy and chocolate varieties, some spices, some boxed coffee, some Middle Eastern pastries. Only some things were labeled with either what it was or the price of it, so that was a little disorienting. I was surprised to find a cafe and gelato bar inside. The gelato flavors were incredible. I settled on popcorn caramel and baklava in a waffle bowl. An employee said that everything was made in-house. The price was standard considering that all was made there. The service was weird. This unassuming spot in a strip mall was gorgeous inside. And it serves coffee, pastries, ice cream plus y'know candy. AND they roast their own nuts, spices and I guess coffee beans. There were definitely folks hanging out and enjoying a Turkish style coffee... I guess either the caffeine doesn't hit them the way it does me or they had no plans to sleep. The candy isn't labeled 100% correctly but you kind of know that gummy worms are not gummy strawberries. I tried an assortment bag of gummies and some of chocolates and the price was by the pound. Re got some freshly roasted unsalted cashews and they were delicious! Parking is easy in the strip mall lot. And as you step in you definitely leave Louisiana and step into another country.

The Vintage - New Orleans, LA…read more The Vintage on Magazine Street was our very first food stop in New Orleans, and it turned out to be a great way for my wife and me to start our trip. From the moment we walked in, I really liked the atmosphere. The place has a cool, relaxed New Orleans vibe with a little bit of an upscale café feel without being overly fancy. It's the kind of spot where you can come in, sit down, enjoy some good food and drinks, and just take your time. Of course, we couldn't come to New Orleans and not start things off with beignets! We decided to go with the Fancy Beignet Flight, which gave us a chance to try several different flavors. We got the raspberry, s'mores, and Chantilly. They came out looking almost too good to eat, covered in powdered sugar with all the different fillings and toppings. Almost... because we definitely ate them! They were warm, sweet, messy in the best possible way, and a fun introduction to our New Orleans food adventure. For my meal, I ordered the Italian Panini with the truffle Parmesan fries. The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese, and flavor. Looking at that cross-section, they definitely weren't being stingy with the fillings! The bread was toasted nicely, and everything worked well together. The truffle fries were another highlight. They had plenty of seasoning and Parmesan and paired perfectly with the sandwich. I also grabbed a small iced mocha, which went really well with the food and especially the beignets. One thing I really enjoyed about The Vintage was the atmosphere. The interior has a lot of character, from the marble tables and vintage-style flooring to the bar and pastry display. It feels like a place that belongs on Magazine Street. It was comfortable enough that we didn't feel rushed and could just enjoy being in New Orleans together. The service was good during our visit, and everything came together for a really enjoyable first meal in the city. Our bill came to around $48 after tax and tip for the two of us, and considering we had a sandwich, upgraded fries, drinks, and the beignet flight, I thought it was a good experience for the money. Most importantly, this place gave my wife and me a great start to our New Orleans trip. When your first stop includes a loaded Italian panini, truffle Parmesan fries, iced coffee, and a whole flight of beignets, you know the trip is starting off right! Definitely a place I would visit again. Great food, great atmosphere, and a great first taste of New Orleans. 5 stars from us!

Still a New Orleans Gem - Visitor since 2018!…read more I'm updating my review as of April 2026 because it's important for visitors to know that The Vintage has absolutely "still got it." My last review was in 2020, and I'm happy to report that the quality and atmosphere remain top notch. Whether you are looking for a morning pick up or an evening wind-down, this spot covers all the bases. Their beignets and coffee are a classic must have, and I can personally vouch for their Americano. It is consistently well made and delicious. They also have a great selection of beer and cocktails if you're looking for something a bit stronger. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. We have always had great interactions with the staff, but a special shout out goes to Jimmy, whom we met this past week. He was incredibly kind and hospitable, truly making us feel right at home. Jimmy if you are reading this, THANK YOU!! If you want a spot that feels authentic, welcoming, and consistently excellent, put The Vintage at the top of your list!
