Burger, pastrami sandwich, BLTA, fish & chips, and the brisket. The Tahoe IPA beer was great. Kids all ordered soft drinks, plenty of refills offered! We all enjoyed our meals, except brisket boy. He was expecting BBQ brisket, but the plate was more of a roast beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, and veggies. Fish & chips were pretty good, with 2 nice sized chunks of cod. The sandwiches were nice, burger solid! The fries were really good, seemed like fresh cut. When I looked at what others were enjoying, we observed that the wings look to stand out. To Jim Phalan, You lied about your manager coming to our table, we never saw your manager. We emailed you and you apologized that you got our table mixed up which is so sad if that's true, means that there was another disappointed customer. You said you would send us compensation, and we followed up with email which you ignored. Literally don't say anything in the first place if you weren't planning on making things right. We went to a casino and got larger portions, better service and the food was cooked perfectly in comparison to the farce you are trying to uphold. Came for the fish and chips (I changed FF out for a salad). I came because it was suppose to be "The Best". I grew up in the Midwest with Fish Fry Fridays all year round and I can tell you this was NOT the best. It was way over cooked, the batter was way too thick and very greasy. I got better fish at a church fish fry in Reno last week. Also ordered a Cobb salad at our table. Chicken was over cooked and dry. Waitress was able to get a fresher one. Lovely inside restaurant with great atmosphere, and a really nice Umbrella patio where I had the very best Five Star Bourbon glazed Salmon, rice and vegetables. Our server was Outstanding and her name was Ariel. This is a happening place with all the people going to the water fountain with their kiddos and the other restaurants across the way. Today on our quest to fill up our Nevada Craft Beverage Passport, it led us here. We ordered a pastrami sandwich and an order of nachos, and we enjoyed both. The nachos were covered with beer cheese which, while good, didn't quite work as well for me as traditional nacho cheese. The pastrami on the sandwich was excellent--very lean and flavorful. It was served on grilled sourdough, which was good, but personally I would have preferred it on a soft Italian roll similar to what you get at The Hat. I also tried a flight of their beers, with the Raspberry Red being my favorite. Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch and look forward to coming back to try more of the menu. The gravy was too salty, and the chefs should sample their product before customers are forced to eat it. This gravy was used universally on pot pie and fried chicken. I saw more than one table pushing these choices aside. Secondly, I was served a very good salad (hence 2 stars), but I had only two bites before my entree was delivered. I hate that. Timing is essential, and servers should NEVER deliver the entree, or better still, time the entree to arrive while the customer is eating their appetizer or salad. So the remedy is not to leave the entree under a heat lamp, but to time it to follow the appetizer or salad. I do love the vegetables, they had yellow, green squash, broccoli and cauliflower as an afterthought, they were perfectly cooked but the cook went a little overboard with the salt. I would just eat the vegetables alone but the order came with a cottage pie. I just ordered a side of vegetables too, never can get enough vegetables. Unfortunately the back bar is not staffed tonight so I had to contend with the noisy restaurant part of this restaurant. The whole experience at Fox Brewery was enjoyable. I went out with my kids and one of them is celiac. They ordered a Hawaiian pizza with gluten free crust. The waiter was assured us they were good about cross contamination and they really were. My kid can tell because they are very sensitive to gluten. I had the Steak and mushroom pie with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. It was done just right, with a crisp flaky crust and tender steak and mushrooms inside. My son had a burger that he said was very good and my daughter had the chicken wrap with fries. She said it was very good, not dry like many wraps can be. We have been here before and look forward to going back. We do prefer to go when it is a little quieter, as the restaurant is small and can get nosy when crowded. We love this restaurant, we really do. But we were sorely disappointed when our takeout order was delivered cold and half as big as the same order we get in the restaurant. We ordered the fish and chips, and although it was tasty, it was half the size of the same order we get at the restaurant. Since we usually split the order between the two of us, with this order we were left very hungry and unhappy. Conclusion: beware their takeout orders. The Fox has been our "go-to" in Carson for close to a year. Tonight we went for dinner and the server "Hills" was rude and unfriendly. We usually have the experienced servers that do a great job taking care of customers. This one, although working at the Fox for over six months, was rude and insulting demanding that I slow down when giving her my order because she was slow on using their POS system. After her rude comment I asked for a cup of soup before my dinner and she lost it! She said now she had to delete the order and start all over. We eat at the Fox three times a week and bring clients to dinner several nights a month. The other servers normally do a great job, are friendly, never rude and demeaning, and have no issues when taking customers orders. If we weren't hungry we would have left, and should have. We will be looking for another "go to" after this demeaning experience. The owner, Jim responded to my original post which I appreciate. One employee shouldn't affect the ranking of a great place to visit and I've changed my previous rating. Thank you Jim. read more

Great service, nice place, but the "Mac & Cheese" was the weirdest mac n cheese I've ever seen. Go look at my photos, and you tell me if that looks anything like mac n cheese. First off, they're kind of tricking us by having Mac in the name because it's not macaroni. It's penne pasta. OK, that's fine, but then, where's the cheese? What I got was sorta melted in with bits of bacon. But I expected a pub to serve a big, tight, cheesy mess of mac & cheese. What I got was just not fun to eat. We were told thw kitxhwn was a bit behind sue to how crowded it was which was great for us as we all could catch up with eaxh other and not fewl rushed. The food was fantastic, hot and good. Wonderful pub in downtown Carson City by the Capitol building. Nice decor with a few TVs on for sports. Extensive menu and full bar. The squeeze and I split the beef dip. We added the garlic fries. The sandwich seemed kind of small for the money, but it was loaded with very tender beef. Dunked that in the jus, presto. She had a Hop Tahoe and I did the Seamus Red. Both were quite good brews. We tried the Fox Irish red beer today. It is awful. Do not know what is in it but it tastes like some strange additive. Double ipa was only double in not being good at all , did not taste hoppy and frankly tasted awful,settled for a Coors light & that's a hard settle to swallow at a BREWERY. The patio is great as was the service just SOL on the beer. Needing to kill a little time & some sustenance returned to the bar some hours later. Still wanting a good cold beer but knowing better I chose a tequila from the meager,frankly pathetic booze selection and ordered the spinach dip. The dip is smaller and kinda taste like frozen or canned spinach because I recall it being a solid flagship type of app, not so much. Came back again today for lunch and had another good experience. My husband really enjoyed his burger and the clam chowder, and I thought the steak nachos and turkey melt were both very good as well. The food has been consistently solid, which is why we keep returning. Service has generally been good, but I've noticed over the last few visits that drink refills don't come very often. I ordered the Pastrami sandwich today and was not impressed. The bread was not fresh and it was not toasted. I don't know what their intentions were when they prepared it. Pick one or the other. There was very little pastrami on the sandwich. I took all the meat and made a regular size half of sandwich. The service here was terribleeeee!!!! I've worked my fair share of years in the restaurant industry and I understand a busy understaffed day but the service was horrible. My mom and I came around lunch time we were sat within a minute or two. Once we were sat we waited at least 10 minutes just to get our drink orders place(which were two waters) We also ordered our appetizers and meals at the same time as our drinks. The appetizers came out in a short timely manner but we didn't get our drinks until AFTER we got our appetizers. We had to get the attention of a busser to get our drinks (again our drinks were two WATERS the simplest drinks to get) We got our food and then had to wait at least 15 minutes just to get boxes. Then had to wait another 10-15 to get our check after waving someone down for it. Multiple servers, busters, and the manager walked past numerous times through our experience and we had to wave down someone for every part of the average restaurant experience. I always enjoy a visit to The Fox in Carson City. The food here is always great. Their specials are a good value and you must get the bread pudding! It's good whether you take it to go or eat it there. The service here has ways been excellent. They have one of the best outdoor patios in Carson. The location is in McFadden Plaza where there are always great events going on. The beer is also a great here as they brew everything on their own. The fried pickles are always good and if you happen to go in October, grab a Foxtoberfest special! read more

The Fox has such a fun atmosphere -- I especially love sitting out on the patio during nice weather months. I've been twice in the last month and had two different experiences, both overall very good. The first was with a big family group (about 8-9 of us, including two kids). The kids' meals were great portions at a great price, and everyone seemed to really enjoy their food. Drinks were flowing, and I had the fish and chips -- huge portion, super tasty, I couldn't even finish them. The only downside that night was some wild up-charges -- $4 for a slice of cheese on a kids' burger, and $4 each to upgrade fries to garlic fries. The garlic fries didn't come out great at first (soggy), but they did replace them with a much crispier batch after we sent them back. Still, between the cheese and the fries, our bill was about $20 higher than expected just from up-charges. The second visit was a quick patio lunch with my husband, which was so peaceful and pleasant. I had the steak salad and really loved it -- fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. My only gripe was the cut of steak: sirloin is a bit too chewy for a salad. A smaller cut of skirt steak or something similar would have elevated it from great to perfect. One thing I do love here is the rewards system -- because we spent big on our family dinner, my lunch with my husband was basically free. Can't beat that! Overall, I'm giving 4 stars -- everything was delicious, the atmosphere is awesome, and the rewards are a big perk. They just lost one star for the wild up-charges and the chewy steak. read more

We are regular customers and I'm so tired of getting nickel and dimed for every extra!! We like the food, but they insist on charging extra for everything! I love sweet potato fries -$5 extra. Last week I got charged extra for the fries and then extra for the sauce for them! Today, I didn't order the fries, got soup for my side - $5 extra!!!
