Excellent food and excellent service! some coworkers and I walked over for lunch last Tuesday and were greeted by a wonderful server named Liz. Liz offered great recommendations and good conversation. She was very bubbly. The food was excellent. A few of us had the signature burger and others had the couch chicken and which. The burger was top-notch. The quality was everything I want in a burger. I'll definitely be back. we got there right before 2pm. Apparently they close between the hours of 2pm and 4pm to prepare for the dinner offerings. this is a standard and understandable practice with great restaurant (I can't wait to go back for dinner). While we were there, on a random Tuesday a number of parties were turned around due to the hours. I would recommend a large sign at the front entrance notifying prospective customers of the 2pm close. there might've been one but I'm just offering that advice in case it isn't there. again...great food...excellent service. The remodel is amazing! The atmosphere was relaxing and special. I ordered the slow roasted boneless short ribs. The meat was so tender you did not require a knife to cut it. However the gravy/sauce they poured over the meat & potatoes was extremely salty. I could not eat it. What an addition to downtown Carson City. I will admit I miss the black bear diner, but Seven Grille is bomb. They were definitely going for something more upscale. Lots of great pasta options, ribs, steak etc. I had shrimp scampi that was delightful, would definitely have again. The inside is all redone in a modern style that really compliments the menu. Comfy large booths. Soft lighting. Quiet. Perfect for dinner with a S/O, friends, or family. My only detractor is the price point on certain items. I think we have to see how the seven grille maintains quality over its first few months before I can do 5 stars. I will most certainly return in the future. Food was great. Staff was very nice and full of positive energy. There was a little wait but the food made it worth it. The bar at the back of the restaurant is so pretty, would love to sit and have a cocktail sometime. read more

This place is located in a casino but don't let that deter you, the Seven Grille entrance is right when you walk in and we could not smell any smoke inside. This place is newer, it's absolutely clean and the service was good. We tried their huge half pound burgers! They were good, they could use some seasoning on all that meat. I think that would make a huge impact but otherwise they were good! We were happy all around with our experience. read more

They opened - woohoo!! We have been waiting for the return of a restaurant inside the Federal Hotel (formerly the Carson Station). We popped in one afternoon for lunch and was happy to see the staff that we have seen for years had returned - we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The inside remodel is so nice, it even has a fancy element to it!! Booths, tables, carpet, painted with NEW decor - it looks great!! Glass water container, table setups and the standard salt, pepper - it was inviting. Our waitress that we have had for years gave us some great recommendations including to share that the dinner service would be open in October - right around the corner. We decided on the Wedge Salad and Regular Fried Chicken Sandwich with fries - everything was tasty && delicious!! Carson sure needed a new breakfast spot and this one hit the mark! The decor and feel is class! Seven grille is offering a breakfast and lunch menu (dinner coming soon) Our server Jonni was awesome, knowledgeable in the menu and quick with service. We ordered the chorizo egg and hash, and a 3 item omelette. Both plates were served spot on. The quality and presentation is there and we look forward to doing lunch on our next visit! 10/10 we're so glad we stopped in, usually feel new spots fumble a bit getting things going ,but I feel this crew is seasoned and knows exactly how to do it! This place just opened for evening dinners. That's a was a great thing. Wednesday is 55 and older senior discount except not for 2 go orders which I can't understand why. You see The Max casino has karaoke twice a month. We tried this place once with having dinner there. It was great service and great food, only a couple of tables fill but guess what, we missed an hour of karaoke which defeats the purpose of coming. We would love to order and take it to the karaoke area. We actually could and did but sucks that we didn't get our senior discount. I think they also charge a to go fee. With that said, we decided we will just stop by someplace on the way to karaoke and skip this place. It actually saves us money even though this place had delicious food. I guess I like to feel like I'm getting a discount for hitting my age when an establishment offers it but to not give it because I'm not eating in the restaurant has made them lose my business twice a month. I don't live in Carson so when I'm in Carson and would like to have a nice sit down dinner, there are a lot of places to choose from. This was my third visit to the establishment, and each time I've left even more satisfied. Last night, we indulged in the prime rib special, which was absolutely fantastic. I opted for a side salad, while my mom enjoyed the tomato bisque soup, both served with delicious focaccia bread--what a treat! When our main courses arrived, we were blown away by the generous portions and the outstanding quality, all for just $35. To top it off, our waiter was exceptional. He was training a new server, and both were impressive in their attentiveness. He consistently checked in on us while managing several other tables seamlessly. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I'm thrilled that Carson has such a gem. The waiter mentioned how much the chef genuinely cares about the food, and it truly shows. read more

OK! THE SEVEN GRILLE IS FINALLY OPEN! The interior looks more classy that's for sure. I see some of the original servers here too. Service is trying as hard as they can with the rest of the kitchen staff, but I think they still need more practice and training. My friend ordered a bowl of the clam chowder .... it was served luke warm! .. server took it back, but filed to return anytime soon. Turns out the soup was re plated (bowled), but someone else took it off the kitchen serving area AND GAVE IT TO SOMEONE ELSE! Our server noticed no soup and went back to the kitchen, they had to put out another serving. As for the quality of the clam chowder, it was just OK. A little too brothy thin and not thick chowdery. Could have used more clams as well! Just scoop from the bottom of the pot please! At least the side of bacon my friend wanted to add to the chowder came out OK. The chowder needs some bacon or pork flavoring to bring out the depth. I ordered the mushroom Swiss cheese burger, med rare. It was cooked med WELL, but you know, very few places can cook a burger med rare these days. The sweet potato fried were good, but I'd say the burger plate wasn't worth the $16 price. Dinner is supposed to start on October, so maybe they'll iron on the problems by then and I'd be willing to come back. If they could just get back to where the former Black Bear Diner was, I'd be OK with that. This location is way closer then driving all the way down to Bodine's or the Fandango. read more

Our server Cindy and the fries are the only redeeming quality, honest and knowledgeable about the menu as well as personable & the fries fresh & fried perfectly but the ranch dip was gross.Otherwise this would be a single star review. So,French dip...boring packaged au jus was barely warm,the flavor of the meat was just bad, the roll was way underbaked & half grilled with what tasted like fake butter,sautéed onions & mushrooms done well but lacking any flavor,decent well melted Swiss wasn't enough to save the plate. The creamy horseradish was either absent or left off the plate. Bloody Mary , possessed zero qualities of a Bloody Mary ,tomato flavored ice water,the olive was the star. Place is cute & clean but needs a chef. Way overpriced for the poorest of quality , I would expect a sandwich like that to come from a gas station. read more

We had dinner there last night at Seven. We've been there a couple times before--one experience was really good, the other was just okay. This visit started off strong. The service was great, appetizers were amazing, and the salads were solid. Unfortunately, the main courses were a different story. My husband's filet mignon had an off color and smell. My prime rib tasted like it had been cut and sitting far too long--when prime rib sits after slicing, it loses heat, dries out, and the color turns from that vibrant pink to a dull grayish tone. The texture changes and it loses that fresh, tender quality. That's exactly how this came across. My daughter's seared tuna was cut too thick, tough, and very fishy. It was disappointing, especially since this is our go-to spot when we want a nice dinner without heading to Reno. In 30 years I have never sent food back but this time we had to because if they were serving this to others, they needed to know. The owner!manger recognized that and said he would pull the steak off the line as he had fresh ones? So we are not eating fresh ones ? To their credit, the owner/manager came out, handled it professionally, removed my husband's meal from the bill, and comped a beverage--which we appreciated. read more

Second time here. Still very good. Did the sea bass special, good portion and perfectly cooked, not over cooked and dry. Sauce was good, could use a little more salt. Way too much rice, could do with less. Husband had the rib special. Half rack with soup and fries for $19.99, good luck finding that deal any place else. Tried a rib, again, perfectly cooked, still had a bite and came off the bone easily. He really liked the clam chowder. Our friend had the chicken marsala. Tried that too, and the chicken was moist and the sauce was very good. Overall we enjoyed everything and Jonnie our server was great! read more

I went to the Seven Grille with friends for Thanksgiving dinner. The service was cheerful and attentive, and they served up generous portions of traditional Thanksgiving items, including a choice of pumpkin or apple pie for dessert. At twenty bucks a head it struck me as excellent value, especially with the full box of leftovers that will allow me to give thanks once again on Friday or Saturday with another very satisfying Thanksgiving meal. My expectations were low going in, since I had gone there for breakfast when they first opened and wasn't impressed, especially by the decor, which made the place feel cold and austere. But now that it's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the bar is open, with the very tasteful decor all in place, it has finally achieved the menu, service, and up-scale ambiance the hotel management had promised. Best of all, the prices are quite reasonable for what you get there. After a second look, the Seven Grille earned top marks from me! read more

I had the corned beef hash for breakfast. Explain to me please, how is this "hash"? My breakfast consisted of stringy shredded corned beef, a side of potato's and eggs all separate on the plate. To define hash or hasher (French), is to chop. With that said, the meat and potato's should be mixed. read more

We have tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. All of the food is wonderful. Servers Liz, Cindy and "mama" are so friendly and sweet. Everyone is personable and gets to know their customers. The decor is simple and nice. I really liked the short ribs. The french dip is delicious. The only suggestion I could give is add breakfast gravy. Hubs will pour it on everything he eats.
