Short Rib Ravioli - most excellent!
    Deb A.

Pro's: [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great server/service, beautiful and fun ambience, excellent food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Con's: None Go back?: Absolutely More... Being from Reno I have wanted to go to this Mark Estee restaurant for some time and finally made it. We were so pleasantly surprised. My date was thrilled that I picked such a great spot. We enjoyed our craft cocktails - mine was the campfire which was like a Manhattan but with a marshmallow theme-even came with a toasted marshmallow garnish...totally fun. I ordered veal piccatta - one of my favorites. It was delicious although the second piece (generous portion) was a little too thick so it was tough, but the sauce was excellent with the 1000 layer potato stack...yum. The highlight was my dates entree - short rib ravioli. Wow...this was delicious. The pasta was so light and delicate, so it was not heavy on the pasta. It was so thin, almost like a wonton, but fluffy and delicious...what a hit! I would go back for that entree. Our server was excellent, too. Friday night, 7/14, working bar area-sorry I don't recall her name but THANK YOU!

We had a tasty meal with friends here last Friday. Service is friendly, our Server, Steve, was attentive and helpful, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the restaurant is decorated warm-Italian style[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and our food was fresh and tasty. We had Lasagna, Chicken Marsala, Caesar Salad with chicken, Warm Beet Salad and truffle fries. It was all delicious.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The outside was really nice looking[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was really nice inside. Music was at a perfect tone so you could enjoy a mice conversation. It was relaxing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hostess was really sweet and cheerful. Loved that. Now is where the problem started. Our waiter never introduced himself, but the receipt says Steve S. He walked up, said do you want something to drink besides water, that is where the conversation ended when we said no thank you. We asked for ice for the water as they try to keep it authentic. He goes and grabs some ice, puts into 1 glass and walks off. We had a glass each. So, I still have no ice. Never did get any either!!!! He never came back so sometime else dropped off the food. For that fact, he never came back period. We had to ask the hostess to get him for us. She said he would be right there, time passes and still have not seen him. He NEVER came back ever. The hostess had to go get our ticket and ring us out. So yeah, tip was not great either. You get a tip for service rendered to a customer. If you do not do anything, it will reflect! On to the food. So for the waiter 0.1 stars. Worst wev3e ever had!! We ordered the warm olives 3.5 stars They were ok. The cheesy pull apart bread. Very little cheese on it at all. If you're calling it cheesy, I want some cheesy on it. 3 stars The octopus with 1000-layer potatoes and a dressed salad. Octopus, solid 4 stars as I have never had it in my life to compare it. Was tender chewy if that makes sense. The aioli that comes with it pairs nicely! 1000-layer potatoes 5 stars solid!! I would eat these for a meal. Salad 3 stars, dressing was very little. So, all in all, ambiance was really nice, meal was just ok and waitstaff was the worst I've ever had in a nice restaurant Everyone keeps talking about their great experiences, so where was our great experience. So due to this 1 bad experience, we will not give it a 2nd chance.

Italian food at its finest. The food is excellent, the wine and beer selection is great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A lot of seating from tables to booths to the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Been here twice and both times was very happy and full.

Cucina Lupo is the modern Italian neighborhood spot everyone community deserves and we're fortunate enough to have it in Carson City. My son was turning four and he wanted "pasta" for his special dinner and Lupo, with their scratch made pasta and seasonal cuisine, was the perfect choice. The kids shared the spaghetti and meatballs, which the kitchen happily split for us. Four adults shared the fried artichoke hearts (a must), roasted mortadella (yes you should) and the mussels and clams (mmhmm) and all of it was delicious! I will say that I wish there was a bit more to the mortadella portion but it was so good, as always. The mortadella they make is so damn good! I can never get enough! For dinner my wife and I shared the NY strip, medium rare, with charred broccolini and roasted cauliflower, and I'm here to say this was the most tender and delicious NY strip I've ever had anywhere. Perfectly seared, seasoned, and cooked, topped with a rich and velvety wine Demi sauce, each bite was better than the next, and the veggie sides were also perfectly done and damn good too. For dessert, you know we had a budino! We almost needed two but the special dessert of the night, a baked Alaska, made stretch far enough! Our server was also on point. I think it was Kenny? He had a nonchalant vibe but was super attentive without being too present, and happily addressed any need we had. This was one of the most pleasurable dining experiences I've had in quite sometime and I frankly can't wait to do it again!

I am very picky when it comes to steaks. Usually I just make it myself because of how picky I am. And although there are pretty good places out there, it's no joke when I say that this might be my most favorite prepared steak that a restaurant has served. The ingredients and herbs that were used accented the steak in a way I've never had before.. which makes me wish I had access to this stuff as well. The meat is also from a local farm which is awesome. Customer service is pretty good too. I definitely will be stopping by to grab this same meal every time haha.

Food and service were on par with my last visit. Will return next time I am in Carson City.

I love this place! The place is classy/casual. The service is always on point, sometimes a bit busy but never disappoints. I come here with my husband, I've brought friends here, but my guilty pleasure is coming here on a solo date. I usually get steak, their "contorni" side dishes are all so good it's hard to choose. The mushrooms are a favorite but so are these 100 layer potatoes, their cauliflower with chiles are so yummy. The focaccia bread was too good to make it to the photos. This is high on my short list of Carson dinner favorites. Espresso for dessert is a must.

Love, love, love this restaurant, Cucina Lupo. We made reservations for 4 people, thank goodness we did. The place was popping. But as soon as we arrived our table was ready. We were greeted and seated right away. The environment was fun and inviting. The service was awesome. We receive water and bread right after we sat down. The bread was yummy and tasteful. The herbs they placed in the bread were full of flavor that made you keep eating it, and I'm craving it now just thinking about it. Our waitress had good knowledge of the menu which I appreciate! We started out with their famous Smoky Old Fashion. I really enjoyed their twist on this known cocktail - they add roasted marshmallows to it... OMG. At first, I was concerned about the sweetness, but with the choice of whisky, it totally makes sense. I give it a 10... AMAZING! After we ordered our drinks, we moved to the good stuff - the food. We ordered appetizers: Meatballs- House-Made Meatballs and Burrata - Grilled Focaccia, Prosciutto, Pesto, Tomato. For dinner we ordered: claims and mussels, Chicken Parmigiana, mushrooms ravioli and spaghetti. The food was excellent. The flavors of each dish were unique and specialized to each dish. Fresh Parmigiana was offered to each guest. More bread was brought along with olive oil and balsamic. At the end of our meal we were offered a dessert menu, but we didn't have room for anything else. What a wonderful place to eat with friends and family.

    Tiramisu

The food, drinks and service were amazing. I will definitely be back. Probably one of the best restaurants in Carson City. A little pricey but worth it because the food is exquisite. They make the tiramisu in house and it's one of the best I've ever had. The beet salad is also delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside has a beautiful atmosphere and decide.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Short rib raviolis made with Wagyu beef and mascarpone.
    Kay R.

Started with the Warm olives, not a big fan, weren't warm and very tart/vinegary. I ordered a glass of the Chalk Hill Chardonnay which was very good and an excellent Sonoma County wine. I ordered the short rib raviolis, which were filled with Wagyu beef, topped with a brown sauce, mushrooms and mascarpone cheese. It was very good. My husband had the chicken piccata, crispy polenta and broccolini which he thoroughly enjoyed. The only comment was that the chicken needed a little seer or gold to the top, not so pale. Our server was Cheyenne and she was very attentive and very friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat on the patio, which this evening was delightful with just a slight breeze.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We arrived en mass and were welcomed by an excellent staff at the door. As that our group for the most part were of Italian Mediterranean parentage all were pleasantly surprised at the numerous authentic dishes form which to chose. When our entrees arrived our group got very quiet-not an easy thing to do considering the persona of us overall. Excellent food, good wine, very generous portions with perfect timing in regard to the appetizers and entrees being served together. As we finished we asked that a glass of the chefs favorite wine be sent back in a show of appreciation. Slade came out and thanked us; we were surprised to see how young he was for the expertise in which he had prepared such an excellent experience. Naturally being the shy retiring wallflowers we are -NOT- we asked about his background and were pleasantly surprised again to find his culinary education had started with family and grown as he had. Good to find locally owned family core dining downtown Carson City, in the heart of our old town settings. Your family did well with you, Slade, and you honor them with your expertise. Needless to say, they have room for special events and private parties. So if you are looking for a venue keep them in mind. The Prime Rib was outstanding. Indeed, it was the best Prime Rib I have had in a very long time. Our waiter and the Maitre de were outstanding. They made us all feel so welcome and almost like we were family. We all are still raving about the Prime Rib. There is something so wonderful about a place treating you like family. The human connection is something we all want. It is so awesome to feel appreciated and connected to our world and others. The staff here were outstanding. Everyone commented on the service we received. The appetizers and salads were tasty. The family members who had the salmon said it was excellent. Everyone was pleased with their meal. Portions are generous. All of us remarked on how good the food was. Not to mention, the price was right. The ambiance might be a little lacking. There are no tablecloths. However, keep in mind that tablecloths come with a cost of their own. They need to be laundered and then some need to be replaced. So there would be an added cost. So the question is would you prefer a little more ambiance or a cheaper price for an excellent meal? However, if you are looking for excellent service with delicious food at a reasonable price then this is the place for you. Not to mention, that the drive to Carson is beautiful. Plus there are plenty of things to do in Carson to enjoy. Perhaps it is time to beckon back to a slower pace of life. Take a nostalgic trip to Carson to see the Capitol all decorated for Christmas. Stop in at the Nugget and enjoy a dinner at the steakhouse. We were told that the chef was on vacation. Should have just left then. Then after being seated and given menus, they came and took them back and gave us this paper revised menu since the head chef was out. Our actual waitress was Chelsea and she was fantastic. If not for her, I would give 0 stars if possible. The restaurant itself we really did not get to see much as we were tucked away in the 1st dining area by the entrance. No worries. It was nice and quaint inside and that's about where it stopped!! I asked about bread, and a different lady brought us 2 rolls that were barely room temp. Basically went from bag to bowl. We ordered our prime rib medium. As anything over that gets tough. We also ordered it with broccoli and when it arrived it had inedible asparagus. I mean they were so fibrous we could barely cut through them. Chelsea apologized and brough us out some broccoli on the side, and just like the rolls, it was barely room temp. Not her fault by no means. Now onto the very overly cooked prime rib. There was 0 pink in it. It was well done and very tough. It was also barely 1/4 inch thick. I mean the thinnest prime rib I have ever seen for supposedly being a 9oz. I have had 8oz at other restaurants twice the size of what we were served.. I managed to cut a couple pieces for my husband to eat. I dd not eat any of it. Basically we sent the majority of it back when we left. The only plus thing about this visit was the mashed potatoes and gravy. Still luke warm at best. I ate about 3 bites of food and was done with it. It was the worst prime rib I have ever seen/tasted in my life. Now Chelsea went and got our receipt for us, which of course was no charge, but if it was, I would have never paid 22.99 for what we received. It was that bad. Chelsea apologized several times and like we told her, you do not control what comes out on these plates. So yes she did get a nice cash tip for being such a sweet waitress and trying to do what she could. As far as the restaurant, we will not be going back for anything there. It is also only open Friday and Saturday from 4-close. I came home and made a sandwich for my now late dinner!
