I was hungry, but she wasn't so we shared a few dishes, which were graciously supported with fresh serving plates for each dish. We really do love sharing plates. Martini for me, delicious blood orange Italian soda for her. Calamari appetizer. Golden beet salad with fried goat cheese. Seafood with squid in pasta. We both loved every bite, including the perfectly al dente noodles. I secretly wish for bread, but I'll know to order it next time. The outside was really nice looking The ambiance was really nice inside. Music was at a perfect tone so you could enjoy a mice conversation. It was relaxing. Hostess was really sweet and cheerful. Loved that. Now is where the problem started. Our waiter never introduced himself, but the receipt says Steve S. He walked up, said do you want something to drink besides water, that is where the conversation ended when we said no thank you. We asked for ice for the water as they try to keep it authentic. He goes and grabs some ice, puts into 1 glass and walks off. We had a glass each. So, I still have no ice. Never did get any either!!!! He never came back so sometime else dropped off the food. For that fact, he never came back period. We had to ask the hostess to get him for us. She said he would be right there, time passes and still have not seen him. He NEVER came back ever. The hostess had to go get our ticket and ring us out. So yeah, tip was not great either. You get a tip for service rendered to a customer. If you do not do anything, it will reflect! On to the food. So for the waiter 0.1 stars. Worst wev3e ever had!! We ordered the warm olives 3.5 stars They were ok. The cheesy pull apart bread. Very little cheese on it at all. If you're calling it cheesy, I want some cheesy on it. 3 stars The octopus with 1000-layer potatoes and a dressed salad. Octopus, solid 4 stars as I have never had it in my life to compare it. Was tender chewy if that makes sense. The aioli that comes with it pairs nicely! 1000-layer potatoes 5 stars solid!! I would eat these for a meal. Salad 3 stars, dressing was very little. So, all in all, ambiance was really nice, meal was just ok and waitstaff was the worst I've ever had in a nice restaurant Everyone keeps talking about their great experiences, so where was our great experience. We enjoyed our craft cocktails - mine was the campfire which was like a Manhattan but with a marshmallow theme-even came with a toasted marshmallow garnish...totally fun. I ordered veal piccatta - one of my favorites. It was delicious although the second piece (generous portion) was a little too thick so it was tough, but the sauce was excellent with the 1000 layer potato stack...yum. The highlight was my dates entree - short rib ravioli. Wow...this was delicious. The pasta was so light and delicate, so it was not heavy on the pasta. Had lunch here with a good friend today. Aside from the wonderful conversation and company this place knocked our socks off! She had the chicken risotto and I had the gnocchi. Both were so amazing we didn't want to ever stop eating. The drinks were amazing. The waitress was adorable and equally amazing. Cucina Lupo is the modern Italian neighborhood spot everyone community deserves and we're fortunate enough to have it in Carson City. My son was turning four and he wanted "pasta" for his special dinner and Lupo, with their scratch made pasta and seasonal cuisine, was the perfect choice. The kids shared the spaghetti and meatballs, which the kitchen happily split for us. Four adults shared the fried artichoke hearts (a must), roasted mortadella (yes you should) and the mussels and clams (mmhmm) and all of it was delicious! I will say that I wish there was a bit more to the mortadella portion but it was so good, as always. The mortadella they make is so damn good! I can never get enough! For dinner my wife and I shared the NY strip, medium rare, with charred broccolini and roasted cauliflower, and I'm here to say this was the most tender and delicious NY strip I've ever had anywhere. Perfectly seared, seasoned, and cooked, topped with a rich and velvety wine Demi sauce, each bite was better than the next, and the veggie sides were also perfectly done and damn good too. For dessert, you know we had a budino! We almost needed two but the special dessert of the night, a baked Alaska, made stretch far enough! Our server was also on point. I think it was Kenny? He had a nonchalant vibe but was super attentive without being too present, and happily addressed any need we had. I am very picky when it comes to steaks. Usually I just make it myself because of how picky I am. And although there are pretty good places out there, it's no joke when I say that this might be my most favorite prepared steak that a restaurant has served. The ingredients and herbs that were used accented the steak in a way I've never had before.. which makes me wish I had access to this stuff as well. My husband and I had a long overdue date night. We made a reservation at Cucina Lupo and arrived on time and were put in the back room with a table of six people who were having a good time plus a table with a couple who had a three year old and a baby. The acoustics were terrible. We ordered our meal from a delightful server - all to share - to start an appetizer, then a Caesar salad and then a main. The salad came first - we thought perhaps for another table, we mentioned we ordered an appetizer. Oh, then came the appetizer the salad stayed. We had tiny plates that were on the table when we sat down, so we used them for both the appetizer then the salad. The main dish arrived which we were to share and all we had were the original tiny plates. I asked if we could get another plate as we were sharing - we were told she would see what she could do - ?? Another plate arrived. We ate our meal, which we enjoyed, amongst all the other dirty dishes. Not one used plate was removed during our entire dinner. We've always had enjoyable dining experiences at Lupos but this experience was a complete disappointment from the complete lack of atmosphere in that back room when we had a reservation for the main restaurant, noise and busboy service. read more

I love this place! The place is classy/casual. The service is always on point, sometimes a bit busy but never disappoints. I come here with my husband, I've brought friends here, but my guilty pleasure is coming here on a solo date. I usually get steak, their "contorni" side dishes are all so good it's hard to choose. The mushrooms are a favorite but so are these 100 layer potatoes, their cauliflower with chiles are so yummy. The focaccia bread was too good to make it to the photos. This is high on my short list of Carson dinner favorites. Espresso for dessert is a must. read more

Waited to go twice before giving it a review. Everything's just okay, not bad but not great. I had to ask for salt on the chicken parm because it's flavorless and doesn't have enough sauce on it. We were greeted and seated right away. The environment was fun and inviting. The service was awesome. We receive water and bread right after we sat down. The bread was yummy and tasteful. The herbs they placed in the bread were full of flavor that made you keep eating it, and I'm craving it now just thinking about it. Our waitress had good knowledge of the menu which I appreciate! We started out with their famous Smoky Old Fashion. I really enjoyed their twist on this known cocktail - they add roasted marshmallows to it... OMG. At first, I was concerned about the sweetness, but with the choice of whisky, it totally makes sense. I give it a 10... AMAZING! After we ordered our drinks, we moved to the good stuff - the food. We ordered appetizers: Meatballs- House-Made Meatballs and Burrata - Grilled Focaccia, Prosciutto, Pesto, Tomato. For dinner we ordered: claims and mussels, Chicken Parmigiana, mushrooms ravioli and spaghetti. The food was excellent. The flavors of each dish were unique and specialized to each dish. Started with the Warm olives, not a big fan, weren't warm and very tart/vinegary. I ordered a glass of the Chalk Hill Chardonnay which was very good and an excellent Sonoma County wine. I ordered the short rib raviolis, which were filled with Wagyu beef, topped with a brown sauce, mushrooms and mascarpone cheese. It was very good. My husband had the chicken piccata, crispy polenta and broccolini which he thoroughly enjoyed. The only comment was that the chicken needed a little seer or gold to the top, not so pale. Once again, no disappointment. Greeted, seated and served by the awesome Steve and as pleasurable as always. We chose to sit inside. Didn't do a full lunch, instead opted for a nice appetizer lunch. Cannot say enough good things about cucina lupo! Coming in I was instantly impressed with the vibe and the way I felt in this restaurant. The lights outside are so cute and it just gets better when going inside. The restaurant is absolutely adorable. We were sat in a booth immediately and Steve was our server. He was super fun, personable and attentive. I ordered the chicken piccata with broccolini and the layered potatoes. The chicken was so tender, the sauce was perfectly tangy. The sides were great! My husband got the lobster Mac and cheese. Had a great amount of lobster and the flavor was superb. I came here for dinner on a weekday. We ordered all the appetizers on the menu to share with the group I was with. All of them were great, especially the pickled garlic. For my entree, I got the New York steak med rare. I had fries and polenta as my side. The waiter talked up the steak a little too much going on and on about it being locally raised and the restaurant having exclusivity to the ranch or something like that. I can't remember the whole story. The meat was OK (think Texas Roadhouse), but nothing worth bragging about. I like the area of town and the restaurant itself was charming. Ceasar Salad: this felt a little naked, we had to ask for more parmesean. But the dressing was pleasant. Antipasto: came with fresh salami, fresh prosciutto, oiled bread slices, and fresh mozarella. Shortrib Ravioli: we were told it isn't house made, but it had decent flavor. Ended our meal with their lemon custard canoli. Needless to say, we will be back for this canoli. It was made perfectly. The inside was not too sweet and mixed to near perfection. We did wait a while between appetizer and main dish. But dessert and bill came pretty quickly. I'm in love with their food! Just thinking about it makes me salivate and want to go back for more. It was my first time dining in there. I ordered its Seafood Pasta: the black spaghetti is al dente, and I can taste the salt from the ocean, the seafood were cook perfectly, like the shrimp is so tender. The pasta did not smell fishy if you knew what i meant. My husband also enjoyed his entrée. I think he ordered the pasta of the day or the chef's recommendation. I forgot, but I remember trying out his, and it tasted good. The tomatoes, the parmesan, and the fish were perfectly married together. For appetizers, we had foccacia. It's airy, crispy, and tasted good, dipping with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, just the way I will usually do. Then we cap off our dinner by having warm chocolate cake for dessert. It was not crazy sweet, and the warm cake and ice cream really suit well. The ambiance was cozy and relaxing. I love the small gold mirrors in every wooden booth and the artworks. I find the place a little dark, though, but I think that's the aim to make it a little romantic. It has alfresco sitting too if you prefer eating outside. The service was efficient. The restaurant was probably 75% full and it was just about 730pm when we arrived. Everything we've ever had has always been amazing, but we decided to try something new. I ordered the Chicken Parm w/ balsamic mushrooms and fries. We also has the Risotto. And because the Balsamic Mushrooms are so damn god we got a side of those too. Went last night for dinner. Service is great!!! Calamari not sooo great! Second time ordering it. Seems like more peppercinis on the plate than actual calamari. Some of the pieces were tough and chewy. The chicken marsala was excellent with the broccolini and the potatoes. But was disappointed that we didn't get our usual bread with the olive oil. Didn't think about it until we were walking to the car. Also, my husband ordered a Stoli vodka martini. It looked like a dirty martini, but actually it had too much vermouth in it. Well that was certainly a disappointing lunch we just had. This used to be my favorite Carson City restaurant but today my go to chicken parmigiana sandwich tasted burnt and while the chicken itself was moist and the cheese and bun were fine, the breading was really off putting. The Caesar's salad was the star of the meal, well dressed and plentiful. The service was pretty slow and it took quite a while to get the food out.
