I have had good experiences with Great Clips the many times I have been there, especially considering the reasonable price that they charge.

Searching for a place for a simple haircut. Typed in Great Clips and the closest one was here not too far from visiting the Motown Museum. Walked in for I did not have an appointment. Woman was cutting someone's hair came over and greeting me. Waited not too long and Mitchell came out. Wanted plain simple short haircut. I walked out like a totally different person. It's been a while since I had a haircut. Service was excellent here. I lucked out with Mitchell. He layered the back so there was a bounce and hair did not look flat. Got a Bob style haircut. He consulted with me about my hair and gave suggestions on length too. I been going to different Great Clip whenever I travel. This place is a keeper. Will definitely be back again if I am in Detroit. Relaxed ambiance with cool vibes. read more

I know what you're thinking. It's Great Clips. I don't get an elaborate cut, but I do have a military habit of getting my haircut regularly. I would estimate that I've gotten near 400 haircuts in the last 10 years. I would also estimate that 100% of those haircuts were at a Great Clips location. I do not go anywhere else. That being said, it's not the place for everyone. I check in online, walk in, they print off my slip, ask if I'd like the usual, and 9 minutes later I am done. Some people prefer the pomp and circumstance, but there is something to be said about getting a quick haircut during your lunch break. read more

I sat down and didnt get accepted for 1 hour and when I asked for a light trim they gave me a military style haircut and the back was uneven. then I had to go to another place to get it fixed, pathetic. Today was my first visit. And I was pleasantly surprised. I needed my hair trimmed really badly. The young lady at the front desk and I'm sorry I didn't get her name was just what you want to encounter on a first visit to a business. She was friendly, helpful and made me feel welcome. My service was performed by Linda. Linda was just as friendly and helpful as the receptionist. I told her what I wanted and she delivered. She asked before cutting off the length I needed removed to make sure I was comfortable with it. I really appreciated that. I will go back to see them again. Very nice first visit. This is a good place to go for a haircut if you are in a hurry and aren't too picky about your hair. I would not come here for a new look, but if you know exactly what you want it is perfect. They add notes in their computer system after each haircut and will give you the same thing the next time. I like it so I don't have to explain what I want every time. Also I don't know hair jargon so I can't describe it correctly anyway! In summary, this is probably a good place for dudes to get a haircut. M-F 9-9, Sat 9-6, Sun 9-5. read more

Poor haircuts for a $20 bill and a tip. Wont do beard trims.! And the beard trim issue is the main reason for the negative review. I don't see how it's a issue when no one in the place is wearing masks anyways! The place is Only good for a haircut if your desperate for one and need a quick simple easy one. I registered online and showed up 10 minutes prior to my scheduled time. I was told to wait outside in my car (which was parked directly in front of the salon) and someone would wave me in from the door. I waited an hour in my car, and saw that three people who arrived after me were being waved in. When i confronted the male worker about this, he stated that he thought that I had left (even though I told him that I was parked in front of the salon). The female manager then approached and said that they would re-schedule me. FORGET IT! I let them have it verbally and write a complaint letter to the corporate office (this was about two weeks ago, and I have still not heard back form the office). It's sad that there are very few barber shops open due to the COVID lockdowns, but I will never go to another Great Clips again! read more

Standard issue strip-mall hair chops. This review is only for those who get hair chops. Nothing notable about this one really, You've been to one you've been to em all. Though if you can get over on the weekdays, I've never had to wait more than 6 minutes... usually I'm seated right away, often with Leanna who's worth recommending. I'm never rushed, conversation is pleasingly minimal, she does a good job (makes my unworkable mop always appear kinda cool for a solid week before it grows out). She never fails at making a very winsome pitch for their wall o products I'll never need and I politely decline. Also, there's something very gratifying and fancy-free about getting your hair chopped before continuing on over to shop at Meijer, svelte and itchy-eared and all... if you find the smallest of hair trimmings on your strawberries or kale, it might be mine. mea culpa. read more

Each time i go the haircuts are getting worse and worse. this women literally gave me a hair cut in less than 5 minutes. You could imagine my horror as she vigorously buzzed away at my hair not even making an effort to do what i asked for. She cut it way shorter than i asked for and was left with uneven and choppy sides. paired with a way shorter than wanted on top, that in no way acomidated the way my hair grew so it left me with hair sticking up in awkward places. It wasnt even a young lady it was an older women that looked and acted like she knew how to cut hair. Dont go to great clips to get your haircut even in the simplest way. If your worried about the price even a local barbershop would be better. read more

Listen, folks. We all know what we get when we walk into a $13/haircut place. Don't come here if you're going to (A) stand up in a wedding, (B) going to prom and you're a girl, or (C) need extra TLC with your 'do. I'm scoring four of five stars based on that mid-level expectation. You won't get an hour-long hairwash with scalp massage and so on. You will get a nice group of ladies cutting hair proficiently and quickly. I sat down with a roomful of people waiting. I don't know the exact time it took to get to me but they moved quickly. I am new to the area and everyone was very nice. My stylist (or whatever the term is) chatted with me and was polite and friendly. She did a good job. Again, I don't have huge expectations with my hair but everyone one of them was met. The price is right, the atmosphere was fun, one of the women did a good job working with a crying 3 year old, and I'll go back when I get shaggy again. The only improvement would be free coffee in the corner of the checkout counter. That'd be a nice touch. read more

I normally go to the one in Taylor and never have problems have had my 4 year old daughters hair cut there numerous times .. decided to go to one I was driving by and let me tell you huge mistake !!!!! My daughters hair ruined !!!! I asked for layers and a face frame which isn't too much to ask for I think I ended up with bangs and an uneven cut .... it took 45 minutes for this girl to cut her hair 7 people came in and had haircuts in the meantime... and then the hair stylist had to get her co workers to help her with the face frame which she hacked into bangs !! Now I spend my days putting her hair up in my the front since she looks absolutely horrible without it making hair brushing worse for my 4 year old never again do not go here !!! read more

Terrible place to get a hair cut! I went with my friend as support to her hair cut as she was getting it cut short. She showed the hair stylist 2 photos of the hair cut she wanted which was an A-line style. When she called me over to see it, it looks NOTHING at all like the photos! It wasn't even an A-line! Just a straight uneven cut! My friend is in her 20s and it looks like a cut for a lady in her 60s!!! How can you look at a picture and not even get it somewhat like it! Just awful! You can't even fix it because of how sort it was cut and why would you even let these people attempt to fix something they did drastically wrong! This is a mistake I would expect from someone just in hair school for a few weeks. DON'T GO HERE. read more

Horrible experience. Walked in and she asked if I wanted a wash too and said there were two people ahead of me and they would get to me as soon as they could. There were two stylists. Both gals were done and took the two waiting. I was next....or so I thought. I guy walked in just as one was finished and he said he wanted a cut and she took HIM ahead of me. I continued to wait. The other gal was done and her and her customer were discussing tattoos and she had one she wanted fixed. He stood at the register and showed her picture after picture on his phone of what she could do. I walked out after waiting a 1/2 hour. Did she not want to do a wash? I will not go back. I was skeptical about getting my hair cut and blown here because as an AA woman we just let "anyone" do our hair. My SIL told me about a stylist named Ryann. I walked in and requested to see her. (They don't take appointments, which is very nice.) She quickly took me to the wash bowl and began asking me about my hair. She then proceeded to show and TELL me what products she was going to put in my hair and why. She blew my hair out and before she began to cut my hair she gave me a mirror and showed me how much she was going to cut. (AA women will know why this is different and important to us.) She cut my hair 2.5 inches all over and added soft layers. My haircut is AMAZING. My hair is soft and bouncy. I got a deep conditioning treatment, wash, cut, blow, style for $46. In and out under 1. WOO HOO! Love it. If you are AA woman or any woman for that matter and need a place to go get your hair taken care of, not just blown out, then Ryann is your girl.
