I moved back to Mebane,NC last June. In a 6 month period had 2 horrible haircuts at 2 different hair salons. Both stylists claiming that they knew how to do a inverted Bob haircut. I recently decided to go to Great Clips at Burlington Station in hopes that someone could cut/fix my hair. A wonderful lady named Amanda did a great job. Will definitely go back to her!! I had a good cut here and I am a fan. I like these Great people (and the other Super people) because I do have simple requirements for my haircut. $20 with tip is a reasonable charge for 15 minutes of zipping around the outside of my head with clippers and a sharp pair of scissors. I booked ahead on the app and arrived 45 minutes prior to closing and thank you, Great Clips, for being open until 6pm on a Sunday! Went in for a haircut and was rudely disregarded by Tish who is a stylist here. I feel as Tish never intended for me to receive a haircut after she misinformed me that the stylist I asked for at 10 am would be with me after waiting about 20 minutes another stylist informed me that the stylist I requested wouldn't be in until 1:45 pm. When I questioned Tish she denied the situation and placed the responsibility on me for not describing the stylist by hair color. Understanding that Tish was not going to take responsibility nor be professional about this I asked her could she cut my hair. She responded in a very irritated voice and said yes go back there and sit down. Now I am really starting to feel unwelcome and disrespected by Tish.Being the only African American in the Salon that had 2 employees and maybe 4 customers I chose to leave without a haircut. I called customer service and reported the incident. I am not sure if any actions were taken against Tish but I want to make sure that other potential customers know how I was treated. I just experienced discrimination at the Burlington, nc University Dr location. I am a black women. I've always had a great experience with Great Clips in Danville, Va. I will definitely stay a loyal customer to the Danville location. I walked in as a walk-in customer, however a white women with 2 children came in after me. She also came as a walk in customer, after me. 2 of the stylists saw me come before her, but they allowed her and her 2 children to be next for their cuts. I had to wait after the women and her 2 kids. I got up and told them to take me off the waiting list. I refuse to be treated unfairly. Sheena has cut my hair a few times at this location and always does a great job. Never been disappointed. Really nice and friendly staff. Very clean as well. Who needs arrogance and attitude from their hair stylist? If you are looking for snooty attitudes and overblown egos I recommend this place. Otherwise skip it and go down the street to Sports Clips. Today when I arrived this dude came over and took my name and asked me to come with him to his styling chair. I told him I wanted a trim. The stylist (Steve) then informed me he couldn't give me a trim with scissors. That was no problem until he began quizzing me about which number guard I wanted him to use. I do not know this info and never have I needed it before. I'm 50 years old and I have managed to get my haircut all those years without knowing which clipper guard number I wanted to be loaded on the electric clippers. Anyway, so this dude would not let it go even when I said, let's start at 4. He went on about how I should know my guard number. He even gave me a little short lecture on how clipper guards work. He went on and on and finally he scolded that I should have memorized the number of the guard on the clippers for my hair to be cut. Now, I'm no genius, but I know if someone goes to a stylist and if they ask for a "trim" don't stylists usually say, "OK"? Instead I was given attitude and arrogance. When Steve told me I should remember this information, I could not take it anymore. I got up, took off the apron and and started to leave. He offered me another stylist, but I said "no, too late" and before I got to the door he exclaimed, "have fun." What happened? I'm still scratching my head. I mean where is the pleasant and courteous service attitude toward a paying customer? Are stylists supposed to scold and lecture their customers? Giving a bad attitude and scolding a customer for not knowing the exact number of the clipper guard is over the line in my book. I'll never return to this place and by the looks of it (empty chairs all around), some others in the neighborhood agree. read more

I had been going to Great Clips to get my ears lowered for quite a few years. Results often varied, as I usually asked for the same style of haircut, but often walked out with a variety of styles. I never asked for anything fancy, but something must have gotten lost in translation. My last visit to this Great Clips was about three months ago. I used their app to check-in ahead of time to avoid the wait, went inside and had a seat. While waiting, I heard one of the employees mention that she hated "that damn app." Not sure why, but apparently it was bringing in too much business(?). My "stylist" came directly from the backdoor that leads outside and smelled of cigarette smoke. Not sure if she washed her hands after smoking, but I doubt it. She greeted me, asked me what I wanted her to do for my haircut, and had me sit down in the chair. After about four minutes of cutting, she said loudly, "Oh my God!" I asked her if she was ok and she told me that she saw a bug in my hair. I was instantly mortified as several other customers and employees turned to look at me. I asked, "What kind of bug?," as if it really made a difference at that point. She told me that it was a white bug and that it was probably a lice bug (or louse, to be grammatically correct). She said that there was only one, which was odd, but that it was definitely a louse. Well, by this point, I just wanted to get up and leave, but she stated (again, loudly), "Well, company policy states that if I start the haircut, I have to finish it." She quickly chopped off some more hair and finished my sub-par haircut. She asked if I had kids ("No") or if I spent time around kids. I told her that I taught middle school kids, so she said, "Welp, there ya go! Go to Wal-Mart and get you some lice shampoo and it'll take care of it for you." Embarrassed by all of the the stares, I made my way over to the register and paid for my crappy haircut AND gave her a $7 tip for having to deal with an obviously dirty person such as myself. Right before I turned to walk away, she told me, "Yeah, there was a little girl in here about thirty minutes before you walked in and her head was just covered in lice. It must be going around or something." Now, I'm no doctor or scientist...again, I'm just a lowly middle school teacher... but I can't help but think that this "stylist" probably didn't sanitize her station and that one of these lice from earlier was still crawling all over her things and ended up jumping onto my head. I was beyond furious. I didn't say anything to her, but I have not been back since and I swear that I will never step foot in another Great Clips for as long as I live. read more

My wife went into get a hair cut, Steve did her hair and complained to her about her request she wanted a trim but then wanted it shorter. He complained to her to saying, "next time know the difference between trim vs a haircut." Stay away even if it's cheap! The worst treatment by a unprofessional "stylist"... she was rude and unfriendly the whole time. I didn't get her name but She is young and has dyed redish/brown shoulder length hair. She didn't do a good job or speak to my son the entire visit. When given instructions on what I wanted she rolled her eyes and said something smart instead of answering politely. She wore an extremely low cut blouse and her heavy breasts were hanging out in my 7 year olds face...which is very unprofessional and she should know that men and boys will have their faces right at her chest during haircuts. Worst haircut experience ever. The lady cutting my hair was in such a rush to cut it in time to leave. She even made a comment about it to one of her colleagues. She cut my hair totally different than I told her too. When I left, I noticed that my left sideburn was half an inch higher than my right. So I usually don't write reviews but my experience was so upsetting that I feel compelled to tell everyone about what happened to me today. I went to great clips to get an inverted long Bob. I had gotten it done there in the past with no problems before so I didn't think it would be a big deal. Steve (the older male who works there) checked me in and sat me down. As soon as I told him what I wanted he began questioning every aspect. He started off by mentioning things I should have done before coming here or saying that I should have provided a picture( which I did, I used one of myself from the last time) he continued to say that the picture didn't help him and that he didn't know what I wanted ( even though I explained it multiple times.) He made me feel completely stupid when I asked questions or even answered the questions he asked me. Heaven forbid I don't know how layers work or how hair is suppose to be cut, he went to school for it. That's HIS job. So halfway through I was so fed up with his scolding me every two seconds that I just wanted to leave. He hands me the mirror and says "what do you think?" when all he did was literally give me a trim. The Bob was supposed to be shorter in the back and longer in the front and it literally was all the same length even though I explained it to him several times. He asked if I could see the difference and I said no I can't and he got super offended. I then asked if there was any way we could go maybe a few inches shorter because I wasn't satisfied with the haircut and he explained how this is why we talked about it at the beginning so he wouldn't have to do it again. So I said I was done got up and paid and left. I was so offended by the words he said I literally sat in my car and cried. He had offended me on a personal level and I was not okay with it whatsoever. I came back in about 10 minutes and asked for another stylist and within five minutes the other lady did exactly what I asked for and i left with my bob and I was satisfied. I've never been more offended by an employee in all my life and the odds of me going back to GreatClips ever again is very slim. If you do go in there please ask for one of the ladies because all Steve will do is waste your time and leave you offended. read more

The service was decent I suppose. However, the "layers" for my wife's hair look awful. Completely random, uneven, and looks like a child got ahold of a pair of scissors to cut random parts of her hair. Will never return and highly recommend someone go to a different "hair salon" for cutting a woman's hair. They seem to do a fair job with a pair of clippers on a man's hair. I went there for the first time today to get my hair trimmed and angled around my face. They took me and my fiance in immediately. I had the stylist named Steve. He knew immediately what I was talking about and even asked if I wanted layers and texturing. He was very nice and he did a great job on my hair. Great Clips is a very known name, but a very rude and unprofessional atmosphere. I walked in with my mother and after being asked nearly 10 questions on where I live and my name and number. My mother was finally taken back. First thing first, the lady who took her back was yelling at my mother while asking these questions and then had a very bad attitude when she told my mother she could not cut extentions.
