The second time, I was kept waiting for over 20 minutes while she apparently double booked or worked someone in. Then I was left to sit with color on my hair for 30 minutes too long again, waiting for her to work someone else in. I realize that working customers simultaneously isn't unusual but this was way past what was safe for hair to process. The last and final time I thought I would give it one more try. Same thing, except this was even worse. She didn't ask me about the color or preferred shade for my roots and was talking so much that I didn't realize she had put a very warm, reddish, brassy brown on my roots. (My natural hair color is a cool dark brown). The results are now that my hair is over processed and my otherwise healthy hair is like straw!! It's just a shame when someone is just trying to make that much money and throws quality under the bus. I am so upset and having to have treatments to repair my damaged hair.

Madalyn texted the night before and asked if I could change my appointment for two days later. I said sure and she said she would see me then. Fast forward two days and I showed up for appointment at Madalyn's specified day and time. The receptionist informed me my appointment was the day before and I had missed it. I showed her the text exchange I had with Madalyn stating my rescheduled appointment. She apologized and told me Madalyn wasn't working and I'd have to reschedule. I was very disappointed and will be looking for a different salon.

Half way through the service he told another stylist that he was doing something different (with tip outs I believe), when he told he he was going to leave the underneath of my hair dark and untouched, I reminded him I wanted an all over lighten, and ultimately wanted to be completely blonde, eventually without a lot of dimension, and he grabbed the foils on my head and paused for a second and said "no you dont", then continued on to tell me that it would be too much up keep and would damage my hair over time, regardless of the fact that I have been all over blonde within the last few years, and have been consistently getting my hair bleached for the last 5+ years. During a conversation I mentioned I'd thought about doing red, but never do because red clings to my hair, and is nearly impossible to get out of my hair, and then he proceeds to tell me a few hours later that he puts pink in his toner, which has now left me with reddish roots, that I cannot for the life of me get to fade away. Which means next time I go blonde, I'm going to have Orangey patches due to this. This appointment also started at 3:30pm, and I did not leave the salon until 11:15pm, which is absurd, unless I had a complete transformation of my hair. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, and have tried self-toning and using toning shampoo to correct my hair color and try to get close to what I asked for with no luck. ​ In the end the service was around $200, which isn't considered "expensive" for a blonding service, but it unfortunately isn't money well spent when you don't get what you asked for. The stylist also made a comment of "I hate doing hair for people I know, because then they think that have a say in how I do their hair.", which is just an off putting comment, considering I feel that if a client is getting their hair done, they ALL do have a say in how their hair is done? All on all, not a bad price, friendly people, but unfortunately not worth almost 8 hours in the salon. I wish I would have put that money towards getting my hair done somewhere else, and saved my hair the process of being bleached without a good end result. ​

Alex was highly recommended on here so I made an appointment with her. Everyone I talked to really hyped up the pain of a first time Brazilian, so naturally I was terrified. Immediately, Alex made me feel comfortable and put me at ease. She gave me clear instructions on what to do ad made conversation the whole time. It was not awkward at any moment and, surprise, barely even hurt! Alex explained that the hard wax used at Affinity is less painful and shows better results than strip wax. I can now say this is something I plan to continue all summer long. It's so convenient not having to worry about shaving "down there", and even better knowing I have a person to go to who is amazing at her job. Affinity is a little pricey ($67 for the wax plus 20% tip) but it's completely worth it to me.
