Had a phenomenal experience with Rachel and another stylist today (I wish I remembered her name!). Great Clips should be proud of of the stellar work their staff does in the face of so much disrespect from passersby and some cheap, trashy customers. I hope they increase their prices so they bring in a more sophisticated, respectful crowd. My kids love going there and the quality of the work is worth infinitely more than they charge. The two ladies who styled my kiddos' hair today were nothing but patient, kind human beings with real talents for hair. We have been here several times and always tip well. This last experience was absolutely horrible though. After waiting over 2 hours they let someone else go before us because they had kids, then they did an amazingly uneven cut job but would not let my fiancé look in the mirror because they rushed him out so fast. This was my first time here. I had a coupon and wanted to give them a try because it is very close to my house. I arrived and was promptly greeted and got into a chair for a cut. The stylist was nice, and took time to figure out want kind of cut I wanted. She did a very good job and it looks great. I take my son here because they have a friendly staff and are always available. I love that I can check in online to reduce my wait time, which is very important since my son doesn't do well with long wait times. Sarina does an amazing job with my sons haircut every time. I usually go here because it's cheaper then other places, but even so it's already gone up $2 sense this summer. For a 10 min trim! And I usually can't get the same person and I always have to fix what I can when I get home. If they blowed out and or straighten the hair after the cut they'd be a Le to tell if it was cut correctly and needed adjustments. But I can't tell until I get home washed it and straightened it if there was anything wrong and I don't always have time to go back and have it fixed especially if there's a waiting line. For the price they're asking they should include a blow dry and or straighten to make sure that their work is done correctly. read more

Very friendly and caring staff, they were so patient and accommodating with my toddler during a trim I had done (for myself). They really listen to what you would like done to your hair and the prices are so affordable. I have a random schedule and I have a hard time making appointments far in advance so Great Clips easy check in App for your phone is wonderful, and the fact that they take walk-ins and I can bring my kid there and know they have toys for him to play with and lolly pops. read more

Every Great Clips store I've been to has always been a bad experience. But this one here on Mangrove takes the cake. Don't know who cut my hair because she didn't introduce herself at all lol. Anyways I wanted micro bangs and she did what she did and at the time I hated it, about a few months ago, even now going on a few months later I still hate it. The cut has grown out but my hair is so uneven I had to cut it a few times after that. I say this from the bottom of my heart, anyone working at a great clips is low tier and not worth your money. Like at all. Also I feel like the hair stylists here does bare minimum so if you want mediocre, this place is your paradise. read more

I had probably the poorest experience I have ever had at a hair salon today, I brought my friend in to get her hair washed and blow dried her hair is very long and sometimes it's very hard to do it herself we were told on the phone that she would be able to have it blow dried and shampooed not only did they "blow dry her hair" they had the audacity to allow people to have a dance off for two dollar off coupons and then tell her they didn't have enough TIME to finish her hair. The manager is rude, lazy and uneducated, Half the time she spent brushing out my friends hair she was talking and not even paying attention, I'm sure that's what most people do when they don't have very much time. Not to mention she didn't brush her hair when she blow dryed it or when it was done. she tried to argue about the dancing versus expressing that she did not in fact fulfill her duty. Pretty sad for a manager but I guess you can only do what you're worth. Oh and it took almost over an hour to do nothing interesting how that works. My poor friend's hair looks worse than when she showed up. read more

Okay, coupon or not, I am never coming back here again. The service was terrible. I checked in online and arrived, and was promptly served. The lady who cut my hair asked how my Friday was doing (its Saturday) and asked me what I wanted. I have a pretty basic haircut - crew style cut, but leave a bit more hair on top to turn into a "frohawk"...I have coarse hair. Rule of thumb is, if you don't know what your client wants, do whatever it takes to make them look GOOD. This lady grabbed her clippers and went over my hair - UNEVENLY so, without any particular pattern, etc. Then she grabbed scissors and started clipping my hair. I don't understand what she is doing. She asks what I am doing today, I say clean my house, she goes, "Oh some spring cleaning!" Uhm, Its October...its fall. This tells me she's just doing small talk to be "fake" and doesn't really wanna be there. ANywho, I end up, instead of having a hair STYLE, I walk out with a flat top haircut. It looks like I cut my hair at home over the sink. Luckily it only takes two weeks for my hair to grow back, but seriously, the other place in the same shopping center has stylists that will ask what you want and use their CREATIVITY to make you look better than you had imagined. At this place, they will do whatever you tell them to do, but make it look ten times worse. I am sooo disappointed, and I'm NEVER disappointed when I go elsewhere. I have several cosmetologist friends, but they are all about an hour away. Running errands in the area and needed a trim. I got someone pretty fresh out of beauty college (which I didn't realize until she started cutting my hair). I've worked in salons like this one, and wasn't too worried, as I explained to her the one bad haircut I have ever had, and thought that she understood what I didn't want to happen to me again. I wanted a slight taper around my face, for shape. She pretty much gave me an old school "bi-level." I politely asked the person who "checks" her cuts to even it up. My hair grows fast, and I realize she was new, so I didn't throw a fit, and tipped her well. Though I, of course, will never go here again. read more

This place used to be great, but not anymore. In early 2017, they came under new management and the old stylists are now gone. What they do offer is warmed-over Supercuts wannabes that can only cut one way and that isn't what I want. If you like Supercuts, you might like this place. I explained how I wanted my hair cut and asked she not cut it too short as it will stand up. She proceeds to take a huge chunk of my hair off so short I can not even comb it the way I normally do. My hair is uneven and not done the way I requested. My recommendation is to stay far away from this store. I had a great experiences in the Auburn, CA shop. The girl that cut my hair was not only distracted when she cut my hair but she was also distracted when she cut my sons hair. An objective, and honest review of Great Clips in Chico, CA you ask? Well, in full candor I hope to receive a 5 "doll hair" discount for leaving this review. In short - just a haircut. Elaborative - Well, here it is...I have been coming to this location for years. The absolute #1 reason I come here is the price. With the coupon from the "Yellow Book" a men's haircut without a wash is about $10.99. You may think I'm a cheapskate, but heck I got bills to pay, and I do leave a nice tip so in the end I'm probably not really saving much. To digress, I am a 44 yr man, and I must tell you that I am not too picky at this point...about anything really. I think it was last year, I went about 5 months without a haircut. lol. But, back to the point; my experiences here have been very impersonal. I cannot tell you what the name of the person that cut my hair, I do not make appointments with a certain stylist, etc. The faces seem to change everytime I return so it seems like they might have some internal issues with personnel, etc. That may seem like a "negative" to you, but to me - this is fine. I'm from LA by way of the SF Bay and I am not looking to make new acquaintances while getting a haircut in Chico, CA. Main objective is to get my hair back to being low-maintenance, sporty, and comfortable. That said, they do seem to screw up my hair regularly - I have to be honest. The "fade" seems uneven at times but my hair grows out and in about a week it looks fine. There were a couple of time when I thought of going back and complaining but, I think it could be "attributable" to the fact that I do not pay for the wash first which would probably make it easier for them especially if I had been wearing a cap or beanie prior to the session. I go to Great Clips often, usually for a trim, and I'm pretty happy. However on my last visit I told the stylist upon checking in that would like change up the style a bit and get a blow dry, and of course pay for the extra service. She said well, if we have to use a round brush or any styling equipment it would require an appointment with the manager of the salon. Really? I'm confused...Isn't everyone that works there a licensed cosmetologists/stylist. Their price indicates they do styling and blow drys.Oh I get it.....they just want to get you in and out thereby increasing their volume. The gentlemen who worked on my hair did try and give me what I wanted, but not really. So I left unsatisfied and won't be going back. read more
