I wasn't concerned about this as I scheduled this visit yesterday and had full intention to go in although i can see this being a challenge if it's scheduled out and something comes up. My stylist was Veronica, and she took ample time to ask me about what I wanted, how I liked my look and asked about a lot of nuance to ensure I got the look I wanted. She took her time and was willing to modify when I noticed I wanted it shorter. She was knowledgeable about fine hair, the products and different things likely impacting my hair. I appreciated this. The atmosphere of the salon was sort of bustling, many bodies moving about, a lot of chatter and noise. This isn't unexpected nor was it a bad thing but could be good to note if noise levels are hard for some people. The aesthetic of the salon was airy but chic. I appreciated the decor and the products used were interesting. I'm excited to see if they irritate my scalp (as some do) or if these will be products I'll be able to purchase and begin using regularly!

We had a hair trial four days before the wedding (during which she even fixed my bangs!) that really set the tone for how the wedding morning would go. I brought in some pictures, which she followed, and made suggestions on. She was personable and easy to talk with, and the most important thing is that my hair looked AWESOME on my wedding day! I must also note that Shelly came to the hotel my wedding was held at to do hair in the morning; without charging too much extra. Second problem, Sara was in a hurry and it showed. She'd made plans to go to the state fair and that was where her focus was. I had really long hair when I walked into that salon, past my waist. I was ready to get some length cut off but wanted to start with cutting off maybe 6 inches. I even showed her how much. She appeared to understand. Then she proceeded to cut at approximately 12" off and because my hair has curl it's just below my shoulders when dry. I was traumatized by her cutting off so much of my hair. And what did she do to make my hair dark? It was a trim appointment not a foil. Afterwards SHE pointed out that it looked uneven in the back. Mam, YOU cut my hair. Why are you pushing me out the door with an uneven cut?? Third problem, I walked in as a blonde and left as a brunette. I have no idea what she put in my hair but my blonde is gone! I was so distraught by the dark color and how much hair she cut off but didn't want to cause a scene in front of the two people sitting in the lobby. So I smiled and made pleasant conversation while I paid my bill when in reality I wanted to scream and cry. In summary, she couldn't remember what time my appointment was, made plans causing her to rush through my appointment, didn't listen to what I asked for, paid no attention when I said my hair has natural curl, and she had no idea how to use a diffuser. I walked out of that salon and my hair looked like a rats nest. I had to go home and restyle it but that didn't change how short it was or how dark it was. In all good conscience I cannot recommend her or the salon.

I drive past it all the time, so it's a great location for me. This salon has a total "cool girl" vibe. I have been to other salons that felt more "cool" and "exclusive", but those environments were not welcoming. I grew up getting cuts from my mom and going to places like Supercuts. I am extremely low maintenance with my hair and normally maybe get it cut once or twice a year. In the past, other stylists at nicer salons have looked down on me for that and made comments that made me feel like I wasn't doing enough or that I was less than. Hour Rose Salon and Duffy made me feel very normal, welcomed, and accepted for exactly who I am. I can't say how much I appreciated that, especially in an environment where it would be so easy to make people like me feel like we're not doing enough. I booked online and chose Long Haircut. I like that the services are listed by length and give clear descriptions as to what you'll receive. It was also really easy to get in, I booked an appointment for less than 24 hours away. Before you choose date and time, you can select a stylist. All the options for stylists are given with a quick bio and typically also show their Instagram name so you can check out their work. If you don't care about who you get, you can also pick "any stylist" and just choose your date and time. I ended up selecting Duffy because I liked the photos on her insta and she mentioned specializing in curly hair (I think!). There's a great variety of stylists at the salon and I'm sure you'd be in good hands with any of them. Parking was extremely easy and free, and I was welcomed like I'd been there before. So sweet! The salon is clean and smells really nice. I was offered a drink of my choice (mint tea!) and showed to my chair to start my pre-haircut consultation. My consultation was quick (not too quick) but thorough. I showed some pictures of myself and pointed out what I liked and didn't like about certain haircuts I'd had in the past. Duffy asked clarifying questions and was extremely careful and listened to me. As the haircut went on, Duffy checked in on me to make sure I was liking what was happening, like length and certain techniques. She noted some qualities about my hair that no other professionals I've seen before have called out, which was so interesting! My hair has a very different texture beneath and on the top layer, and nobody's really pointed that out before. It was really nice talking to someone who knows curly hair. Duffy walked me through some care for my hair and shared some tips on how to book if I'd like to come in for trims and maintenance. I didn't feel like I was being sold to or like I was a number - it was a lovely experience overall. I am so happy with my hair and can't wait to come back.

She took her time to listen and offer ideas and then asked me some questions. The cut took about an hour but we chatted for a good couple of minutes and the shampoo treatment was about 5 minutes but to be in and out in an hours time seems pretty good to me. I also made an appointment, not sure if they take walk-ins but I'd call first. Anyway, CJ was amazing. After the cut, she gave my hair a blow out and it's never looked better. Because I live in a city that has harsh water, she gave me a few tips on which shampoos to purchase but she NEVER tried to sell me shampoo or any products from the salon, she simply gave me suggestions and tips so I could make my own decision and purchases. I will absolutely visit again when I need my hair cut again. The price, which I paid $60 with a 15% tip, is totally worth it. I thought $20 for a cut was fine (why bother about your hair, you know?) but I'll never go back to that. This is worth it, I promise.
