I went to Great Clips for the first time today and I can't believe how bad the hairstylist cut my hair. I went in with long hair, and left with the shortest haircut I have ever had. I explained to the hairstylist I wanted my hair to be shoulder length, she even asked me if I wanted it a little longer or sitting on my shoulder. I confirmed sitting on my shoulder. If you are looking for the FASTEST, CHEAPEST and WORST haircut you have ever had - LOOK NO FURTHER. I recently tried the new Great Clips in Shelton on Bridgeport Ave. I spoke to the manager, Jess. She seemed nice enough and said she has been a beautician for many years. We exchanged some small talk and in 5-10 minutes she asked if there was anything else she could do for me and ushered me out of the chair. I paid my bill in shock that it was all over in such a flash. I initially thought the haircut was OK until I got home and looked at the back of my head in the mirror. I wish I could give this 0 stars. There was no respect given by Maurice, my hair cutter. My hair before my cut was much better with two distinctive sides on the top. I told him not to smooth my hair out and such, yet he said he was "blending my hair in." After he finished my cut, I now look like there is a shell on my head and it was too short. I have been getting my haircuts here for probably about 2 years now, and have never gotten a bad one. Dave usually cuts my hair, and he is absolutely fantastic. He takes the time to figure out what I have in mind and is great at making recommendations about what would or wouldn't look good. Despite being super busy, the staff is always friendly. altho the place is convenient, I let myself go there because of all of the positive reviews I just moved to Stratford and I find it so far that they can be very pricey at hair salons like $30 to just wet down and cut. I have short hair it should not be a hard thing to just cut into as I tell them to cut it a certain way. I met Dave I requested him because he is the man to go to as far as past posted reviews for short hair cuts. Welll I thought he did seem to comprehend what I was about as my style goes I even showed him a picture to go on ok I had enough hair to do this style, it was all to shape it into that particular style, and because my hair was cut not long ago there was not really much to do BUT he used the "clippers" that was a no no, because altho he didnt SHAVE MY HAIR off he did it too close that he couldnt cut into it into shape it like I wanted it, IF you use Clippers on all around the head to cut off hair its not cut into a style. I went home to see that it was uneven on what he left lengthwise when I compared left side to the right side OMG NOT HAPPY :it just needed "precision cutting" into it which I mentioned it over and over to get it styled right.I didn't request an all around cut the length ALL OFF with clippers like its done usually on his buzzed fades male men hair cuts especially because if leaves not much hair at all to cut style it .He left the hair only a bit longer on top portion and front part of my head with some length on the bangs because I did tell him I don't want to show my worry lines ok but now the hair is just hangin around like an actual piece of hair you would stick on top of your short buzzed head like I see some women have done to make a statement., but this WAS NOT what I wanted at all and it didn't look not even close to the hair cut style on the picture that I showed him to give him an idea. Then he told me to just let it grow out now and then to go back to him so he could cut into the style I just told him and showed him that I wanted, Huh???, Like seriously really??? I don't think so buddy you were very nice and charming but to me you don't really get what a women style hair cut is, if these ladies are telling you YO ARE THE MAN they don't get what hair style cuts are really about, or they are just going with it because you make them believe its the style for them and its georgeous on them etc etc working that charm or they are just too nice to tell you what they really want to say, like i did too. I would advise you to go back to hair dressing school please you need to understand about what precision style cut is, and what a women actually means when she says CUT it into style and not clip most of the hair off and leave a little to cut just on the top after most of the length of hair is all off I notice you is in a hurry to get to the other people who were waiting or were coming that requesting you,, if you rush hair cuts by using the clippers to rush it, this is what may happen, I don't like hurting peoples feelings you seem like a great person and because of that I was not going to be rude, I even gave you a tip, but I have to make my honest opinion and review for you to read and think about it so you won't make the same mistake again. I walked in at 8:15 and they said they were already booked and would not take me bc they close at 9 when all I wanted was a trim. And they never asked me to come back tomorrow and were rude. They turned down a client and business because they would not stay an extra 10 minuets to cut my hair. So unprofessional. read more

I have to say, I've been to many places to get my haircut in numerous states and i have had a hard time finding one that I like, I guess I'm kind of picky but I think I've finally found a keeper here in stratford. I recently moved back to connecticut from another state and decided to stop in to get my haircut a few months ago, I find everyone to be very friendly in this location. Sandy was my stylist on my first visit and I will continue to have sandy cut my hair from now on. I find it difficult to find that one stylist that takes her time to make sure I am happy with my cut before I'm done. on my second visit, sandy remembered me from my first visit (if she didn't remember me, she impressed me and hid it well) anyway thanks to sandy, i have a new regular stylist that will makes sure my hair is perfect everytime.
