You'll find this little sandwich kitchen inside the Surfside Golf Course pro shop. It is no longer in the external building. We had the reuben and BLT sandwiches. Each come with bag of chips. Wife and I both agreed these were most excellent, my BLT was LOADED with bacon and served on high quality Seattle Sourdough. It was huge! Sat out on the deck on a beautiful day watching golfers tee off and finishing the 9th. Service was superb (well, Lori delivered right to our table :) Highly recommended. Might call ahead make sure theyre open, since it is a small operation (just Lori the proprietor!). read more

My husband and I both ordered the tuna melt sandwiches. They came with a bag of chips. There was so much tuna on the sandwiches that Lori gave us a fork so we could eat what fell off. These were the best sandwiches that either of us had eaten in a long time. The shop is inside the pro golfers building. You can watch down on the golf course. I haven't been here since fall and they have gotten a upgrade! They are not in the little house anymore, they have moved to the building right next door on the golf course. Great view and a bigger space. The owner Lori is super nice and accommodating. She makes super bomb sandwiches. The menu didn't have exactly what my boyfriend wanted, but she made it happen! They do not serve clam chowder anymore, which is a super bummer because it was really yummy. But I totally understand why they stopped, the owner said they just weren't selling enough. Not much else in the area for food. Service was excellent, the owners are super sweet and friendly. Burgers are big but pretty greasy. But made very well! There is chips to accompany the burgers and soda and beer for sale. A few bakery treats for sale as well. Some seating inside as well as outside seating but watch out for hungry bee's! My wife and I ate lunch here today with our two and four year old daughters. I had the French Dip, my wife had the Chicken Gouda sandwich, the girls had clam chowder. All were excellent. The cafe itself is very small, in the parking lot between the Worldmark and the golf course. Weather was good today so we sat outside. Only one guy working there. Super nice and laid back. This place could be called the "Out of the Way Cafe" because it's off the beaten path - and so is the menu! Everything on the menu is just a wee bit different from the norm - in a good way! Thanks to good signage you'll be able to make your way there and it is well worth it. The Hubs and I split a Kicked-Up French Dip - so yummy! The owner, Steve, makes the small space work for him in spectacular style. The view over the golf course was very pleasant, and the herd of 4 deer made it even more so. Wow, I've spent a lot of time on the Long Beach Peninsula over the years and just realized the North end has a great lunch location. The Reuben I had, the first time in, lasted two meals it was so big with a ton of meat, great sauce and generous amount of Sauerkraut on dark rye. Realizing how great the Reuben was, I went back for the Tuna Salad sandwich the next day...maybe the best I've ever had and the sourdough was as fresh as bread gets! When there again, I look forward to trying the burgers, soups, and more of the sandwich offerings, plus more yummy homemade goodies. I had a chocolate chip style cookie with chunks of peanut butter cup, and enjoyed an amazing White Chocolate Raspberry scone with my coffee the next morning. One simply cannot eat Steve's French Dip delicately. You must dive in whole heartedly, up to your elbows, leaning over the plate so as not to wear any of the deliciousness! Tender meat, grilled onions peppers mushrooms, melty cheese, toasty bun - heaven! The dip is not too salty and I found I couldn't leave a drop behind. Awesome little hole in the wall! We happened to be staying at the Worldmark, which is right next door, during the off season. It turns out there isn't much at all in Ocean Park, so we were happy to see this this little place was open for lunch. The owner is funny and welcoming. Really want to be able to give this place a proper rating. Cute LITTLE building and very conveniently located behind the Worldmark. Unfortunately, I've tried to eat here twice and it has been unexpectedly closed both times. The first time there was a sign up citing a medical emergency. Totally understandable. I tried again yesterday (a year later) and this time the lights are off and the door is locked, but it was during posted business hours. No sign, no explanation. The weather was rainy, so maybe no one was showing up. Who knows...I'm still hoping to try a sandwich and some chowder. read more
