The Depot has always been one of our favorite places for special occasions on the Long Beach Peninsula. We own a house in Long Beach, and during the time we lived there full-time, this was our go-to spot for anniversaries and my husband's birthdays. It exudes that cozy, historic Seaview charm that invites you to relax and linger...warm, intimate, and full of character without being over the top. A true small-town and now not so hidden gem. My husband is a fan of their Old Fashioneds, particularly those with a smoked maple twist, and he often gravitates back to the slow-braised pork. Their current Southern Comfort Pork dish is just his style: slow-braised pork shoulder served over brown sugar yam mash with jalapeño creamed corn, green onion, and maple-bacon salsa. That's comfort food crafted with real culinary skill. As someone who follows a plant-based diet, I truly appreciate how The Depot makes an effort to accommodate vegetarian and vegan diners in a way that feels genuine rather than forced. Last winter, I was thrilled to discover the ginger-coconut soba noodles, they were flavorful, satisfying, and perfectly balanced. Their current mika soba noodles with garlic-ginger coconut cream, vegetables, toasted cashews, and cilantro are exactly the kind of dish I'm thankful to find on a Peninsula menu. I also have fond memories of Burger Wednesdays from our time on the Peninsula. It's incredible how satisfying a customized portobello burger can be when a kitchen understands texture and seasoning especially in a place where plant-based options can still be scarce. The food is fantastic, but the service deserves a special mention. While Peninsula restaurants are known for their good service, The Depot's service is exceptional: polished, friendly, warm, and just the right amount of attentive. Although we now reside in California, we plan to make another reservation when we return to the Long Beach Peninsula in July. I'm already looking forward to their summer menu. Last time, was three years ago and yes things do normally change, especially prices for quality ingredients. So you try to be more efficient and reduce expenses But having less spirt choices at the bar maybe shouldn't be one, or not having any options to tweet a choice, or not fully cooking potatoes in the chowder, or... I don't have the challenge of running a restaurant these days, but I do have choices of where to dine. It's a good restaurant, it was just so much better. read more

Sadly we had a very poor experience at the Depot, and won't be back. Made reservation for 4. We were seated in the covered patio, very nice fire pit. When we arrived there was a VERY LOUD party of 8 or 9 women. They never did quiet down, even when their food came. We were unable to even carry on a conversation at our table. They seemed to be having their own party. When asking about them, we were told they are regulars. The food was okay, but the atmosphere was a zero, sadly. Always a pleasure getting to dine here. From the moment you walk in you are promptly seated and the course pace is timed just right. The chef knows how to cook seafood and steaks to perfection and seasoned right. Cozy depot with a variety of dishes to choose from and be sure to save room for dessert. Every item from their menu we have tried have been delicious and would get again, rare to find a restaurant where you liked everything. It's unfortunate that this is one of the nicest restaurant in town because it cooks for the target demographic of above 75. Everything was bland and flavorless. Been coming for years. This place was elevated....it has,an amazing assortment of appetizers, while now the only thing not seafood is Brussels sprouts. Gone are the Au gratin potatoes stacked so perfectly with an amazing creme....now, mashed potatoes???... At least Outback serves baked potatoes. They made a new kitchen and it seems took the cost from the food. Save the drive. Steak tiny...not seasoned. Not elevated. Sad. Truly. Tipped my server well because I doubt we will be back. The Depot is the best choice in this area for a nice meal and serves up stellar fish -- be it halibut, salmon, or lingcod. Never overcooked. Much of the menu changes from visit to visit but we've always found interesting apps to try and enjoyed our meals. read more

Stay Away. I have enjoyed great food here in the past, but the Chef/Owner is Burnt Out. I brought two friends here for a 6:30 reservation. We had a scallop appetizer which was good. We ordered steamer clams as well. My friend's main courses were good. I ordered the clams bucatini. There were minced razor clams and steamers in the shell. There were several clams in the steamer appetizer that hadn't opened, we let that go. Same thing happened with my bucatini. The shells weren't open, I ate one and it didn't taste right. I set my plate aside and discussed it with the waitress. She agreed and offered to take it off of the bill. I politely said "OK". I asked for just some bread and butter which never came. I discussed it with the chef as he was cranking open a quart of canned clams (chowder?). He said I was wrong, the clams were fresh. I said the ones on my plate were not, that he should check with his supplier. He essentially shrugged his shoulders and said "tough luck Pal". He's cranking out overpriced schlock now and doesn't care. I could see it in his eyes. read more

Placed a reservation for 7 with accessible seating and they were accommodating. The service was good and our waitress was exceptional. We all greatly enjoyed our food and have to say it lived up to everyone's great reviews. The only reason I brought this review down to 4 stars is because the steak was not cooked as requested to a medium. However, it was still good. The interior is very cool and has an interesting vibe to it. It is pricey, so if you're looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion or want to eat somewhere "fancier" I'd recommend coming here. read more

Well I'm bragging to my friends visiting from Alaska and Arizona .. lol polar opposites! I tell them this is not the place to be on a budget or diet! They have remained consistent throughout the years, which seems like an unattainable goal for most restaurants on the southern WA coast. Recently, we were celebrating an event with a friend, and I had the Southern Comfort Pork. (I always have the Southern Comfort Pork - it's THAT good.) The pork was amazing. I bookended my stay in Seaview with meals at The Depot, and both were excellent. The first night I wasn't hungry enough for a full entree, and had soup and scallops which were both delicious. The plate was beautifully presented and the service was attentive without being obtrusive. The last night I had the Szechuan sturgeon, which was also amazing. Highly recommend. read more

We have been dining here for 10 years. But the last 2 times since the remodel it has gone downhill. At our most recent visit on May 22, 2026, the food was okay at best. I ordered the salmon with the honey glaze. I wouldn't call it a glaze as it appeared it was just drizzled with a watery sweet syrup which made everything on the plate taste sweet. My husband ordered the pan-fried oysters, and he felt like the recipe has changed as they were not very good. This is not an inexpensive dining experience so when the food is not good you feel like you have wasted a lot of money and could have made something a lot better at home. We have brought several family members and friends over the years but sadly we will look for another restaurant to share with others. As the old saying goes "if it ain't broke don't fix it". I think that is the case here. It was a much better dining experience prior to the remodel. read more

Just moved into the Astoria area full of great dining experiences. Looking for a unique culinary experience we found the Depot across the Columbia in Seaview. Most of the dishes were priced accordingly, this was the only one where we felt a bit cheated as the delicious meatballs were small. - Peruvian Mango Sea Scallops: seafood is where they shine: A- - Gazpacho: bursting with spice, the heat level turned some off. So - initially our service was great. Our server was attentive and very personable. We were there to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary. We ordered oysters on the half shell as an appetizer. They were very tiny but had good flavor. My husband ordered a Cesar salad that was unlike any we had ever had - definitely odd. He wouldn't order it again. The martini he ordered was not good and seemed watered down. He had an old fashioned that was delicious. He ordered clams buscatini and I ordered filet mignon. People came into the restaraunt after us and ordered after us and received their food in a tamely manner - And our food never came. And this continued on for an additional 20 minutes after the neighboring tables received their food. I finally asked the server if they planned to bring us our food and we FINALLY received our food after yet another wait. Our food was delicious. We took our gifted dessert home with us as we were stuffed from dinner. I was disappointed in the long wait - lord knows how long it would have taken if I hadn't gotten fed up and asked if they planned to feed us. The quality of the salad and the tiny oysters and martini was quite a disappointment. Considering all the accolades the depot has and what we experienced I doubt we would recommend it to anyone and likely would not return. read more

The atmosphere is nice, especially after the renovation. The staff is friendly and efficient, as they always have been. The food, on the other hand, was a letdown. I ordered a martini to start. It sure was cold, but so iced down that the gin was almost missing. None of the aromatic headiness I want from a martini. That gin spent way too much time in the ice shaker. I ordered a Ceaser Salad. While the lettuce was fresh and crisp, the dressing was almost a vinaigrette rather than a rich yolk emulsion. For the main course, I ordered the special salmon and a glass of wine. The sauce and sides, a couscous concoction with asparagus, was quite good, but the salmon was medium to well and had lost all of its moisture. It may have been a little on the small side as well, but I didn't really want much more of it anyway. All in all, pretty mediocre stuff for a meal that totaled $100. read more

Absolute gem of a restaurant just minutes from the beach. The service was top notch, the ingredients are sourced as much as possible from local farmers, foragers and fishers, and the chefs prepare each dish with passion and care. I get clam chowder anytime I go somewhere with access to local clams and The Depot makes the best chowder I've ever had. Aptly named for being in an old train Depot, this small restaurant has a great ambiance and delicious food. Definitely make a reservation as the space is small. This place is a gem on the coast. I've now been there twice and blown away with quality of food, chef's touch, creativity and ingredients. It's one of my favorite restaurants on the coast of Washington and the service staff want to make sure your experience matches the quality of the food. Can't say enough positive things about this place. I don't get picture of scallops but they were amazing. We ordered an extra scallop so both of us could have two! We've been going to The Depot for years; to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, Mother and Father's Day...pretty much any kind of celebration we can celebrate, The Depot is our go-to restaurant. The service is good, the atmosphere is interesting and the food is sublime. I felt like there was a bit of a hiccup when ownership was transferred, and wasn't too happy with what I felt was a culinary blip in time, but, having been back a few times to see if things had improved, I am happy to say I feel like they have! So, let's talk about the food! The Clam Chowder is wonderfully flavorful and clammy! It's not a thick chowder, but a sublime broth that wakes up your tastebuds and gets your tummy going for the next course ahead! The perfect way to whet your whistle! Don't forgo the chowder. My husband always orders the Ribeye Steak with garlic mash potatoes. It fills him up and satiates his caveman carnivore persona. He is always pleased with the sear of the steak and the accompanying potatoes are heartily enjoyed. This time around I ordered the Seared Scallops on puréed butternut squash, with apples and radishes. What a happy plate of food! I was nervous about the radish part, but they were so sweet and yummy, I couldn't taste a hint of any bitter radish. The smooth squash paired beautifully with the Scallops, who were truly the star on the plate. Dare I say old Gordon Ramsey would have been proud, I'm sure! I snarfed up the entire plate, and the best part is, I wasn't overstuffed. The portion size was perfect. A wonderful, lighter dish than my usual go to, which is the Southern Comfort Pork. Now THAT is a perfect plate of food for a cold, wet PNW day. Oh my, it is so good! Make sure to try the pork at least once.....and if it's cold and rainy. Mmmmm! Truly, you can't go wrong with any of the offered fare at The Depot. Take some time and get yourself over to the peninsula's best hidden gem. The Depot is excellent. read more

Interesting and older demographic and vibe inside the restaurant. Service was standard. Drinks and food were reasonably priced. My food ratings: - Scallops 10/10 - flavor was on point and super unique with the mango and parsley combination - Oysters escargot 9/10 - a little on the saltier side but the flavors definitely reminded me of escargot - Calamari - 7/10 - Fresh but the batter was a little soggy and nothing memorable - Duck breast - 8/10 - cooked perfectly! The cherry sauce was nice but didn't really care for the rice pilaf and veggies on the side - Creme Brulee - 7/10 - If you like the orange juice flavor, you would like this. We went on a long weekend a few weeks ago to Long Beach before the monsoons and time change. It is alway a must stop when we are visiting Seaview. Relservations are a must, especially if sitting inside or weekends. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service is always top notch. I had the wilted spinach salad, halibut with crimini mushrooms veggies and mashed potatoes. The halibut had a nice crust and the flavors all melted well. The wife enjoyed her chicken Parm and loved the dessert. After a week of overpriced and inconsistent dining experiences on a trip to Leavenworth and Chelan I am reminded of what a gem the Depot is for such a short drive from home. read more
