I haven't changed my review for the Fairmont. But I am writing this update as a warning to anyone…read morewho purchases flavorite latés from here. When I came in the Summer of 2025, I noticed they use the 1883 Lavender syrup from France. Sounds fancy right? But it actually doesn't use any actual lavender syrup; the flavor is all artificial. It also contains Red 40 which has already been known to be a mutagen for 20+ years BEFORE, before RFK. My syrup had developed a microbial (bacterial most likely) biofilm and growths within the syrup. So if you're at the Fairmont, check the bottles of syrup flavorings before you order, especially if it is the 1883 brand. Also, if you're staying at the Fairmont Hotel...why don't they just make lavender simple syrup in the kitchen? You mean to tell me this fancy hotel can't afford to make simple syrup? It tastes better too.

We got the first service for afternoon tea. At the time of the booking, they said it wasn't an issue. When we arrived, we were placed all the way to the back. When we asked about seating, they told us that they could not accommodate with no explanation as to the difference. Service was a bit slow in the sense we were told hot water would come as soon as we flip the lid but it didn't. The scones tasted stellar. The sandwiches were mid. There were more sweet desserts.
