Our family of four stopped for lunch on our way home from camping at Cove Palisades. We had four different sandwiches from the extensive menu and everyone raved about the quality, freshness, and flavors. I had a turkey panini on gluten free bread (obviously homemade and perhaps the best I have tasted). The pesto mayo spread elevated the simple but high quality ingredients. The service on a Tuesday at lunch was fast and it's a super cute place. To top it off, the adjacent parking lot appears to be used mostly by a church, and since it was a Tuesday afternoon, there was easy parking for our truck and boat. read more

Driving through on a long road trip and wanted a sandwich. This was perfect! I knew the second I saw a stack of their house bread. A perfectly crafted Dakota sandwich was shareable and oh so good. Soft fresh honey wheat bread, fresh piles of shredded turkey and crisp veg. Nom nom nom. But first I ate the strawberry cream filled croissant and i highly HIGHLY suggest you do the same. My friend and i went there for lunch since the new Indian restaurant was closed Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 pm. When we arrived at Great Earth, there was no one else there. We ordered two ice teas and a panini each. The person at the register said they were out of ice tea and had to brew some and it would be out in five minutes. We had to ask the table be cleaned as there was crumbs and sludge on the table. Five minutes later, our paninis were brought out by a grumpy male teenager who looked like he didn't want to be there. No smile, didn't ask if we needed anything else. It was not a bad tasting panini, but the insides of the panini had been barely grilled. as the meat inside was cold still, the cheese wasn't even melted, and the grill marks barely showed, making the insides soggy.Yuck! when our ice tea was brought out fifteen minutes later we were half way through our lunch, and We had to ask for some straws, and the cash register girl said it was self serve, like she couldn't be bothered to grab two straws after we waited fifteen minutes! Just very apathetic staff, seems family run, since there was minimal effort put in by staff. Basically good food, sucky service ! read more

We drove to Madras for lunch using the YELP search, it brought us to this cafe/market. Using the bathroom, first, we browse around and found many unusual items, but let's not get tempted now, let's just order lunch, so we can make it to Prineville for my 4pm event! We ordered the Chicken Peanut Wrap, looks the best among those listed in their menu, and perfect to handle without much mess, while on the road. I was not too happy, choking on the hot spices, whatever it was, that as I continue to take big bites, everything thing was alright, THEN, my last bite was once again, spicy and made me choke! I hate that! I don't like spices! If I had the rest of wrap in spicy bites, I would have given them 1 star. But, I managed and we were both satisfied and perfect size. It came with 2 chips. It was very clean & bright place. The restroom was also very clean. The service was friendly, answered my question, no they showed it to me, what I wanted to know. The food is amazing! Very fresh ingredients. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Baked goods are delicious. Customer service could be improved greatly. Not rude but the young staff working the counter leave you feeling that they would rather be anywhere else but helping you. We've eaten there many times and always the same flat service. It's a light and cozy atmosphere outside that. Hands down the best food found in Madras. read more

Madras OR I got to be honest at first I thought it was way overpriced for what I got. About 1/2 way through I thought I got what I paid for. I had the pastrami panini and the bean and ham soup. The portions aren't large but they are right. Just enough soup. Just enough ingredients in the soup. The bread in my panini is made there. The Pastrami was great quality and flavor. I think next time I'll see if they can add me some veggies like lettuce and tomato. Not necessary, but to my liking. The folks were super friendly and I think it is family run. Just felt good that I stopped at a small business and tried them out. You'll see me again when I'm on the way to Bend. read more

Well as a resident of Madras, I was here once a few years ago when it was more of a coffee/breakfast cafe. Then within the past year it has changed hands. Opened with more menu options for lunch and dinners with beer and wine. So we tried it. Definitely not for us. Not very well kept up meaning messy seating areas with cushions on the floor etc., not clean and the customer service although helpful, was painfully slow and did not know about their offerings. read more

Great hidden gem not too far off of the freeway! We were driving through the area looking for something healthy to eat and found the spot. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant was very cute with a lot of little lounge areas to sit and enjoy your food. They had a breakfast menu and lunch/dinner along with a coffee menu, fresh bread, snacks, beer on tap, wine. I got the tuna salad and my surprise the tuna was actually a tuna steak. My salad was delicious and very reasonably priced! I also had an opportunity to try the chocolate cake. The cake was so moist and delicious. If I lived closer, this would definitely be a great hangout spot. I will definitely stop by again on my way through town! read more

So like many people who are driving through Oregon, you might be thinking, where am I going to get some delicious lunch. Sure there are plenty of fast food, and you might be tempted to just go there. I would instead suggest that you should come here, and get yourself something delicious and healthy. Besides the "market" side of the shop which is nicely packed with plenty of natural and organic packaged goods, there is a neat cafe, that delivers on taste and freshness. Everything is Made-to-Order, so don't expect something super fast; my sandwich took maybe 15 minutes to make... what you should expect is something that is is going to make you feel good inside, and is many ways, will keep you satisfied for hours to come (assuming you are just driving through to your next destination). if this is your home, I'm jealous that you have such a great little shop. They restaurant is clean, and with COVID raging, I'm happy to see they are keeping the place tidy and clean. The staff was friendly, and with my little kiddo in tow, she had plenty of things to look at while our food was being made. Great Earth is a really nice cafe/market and a pleasant surprise after checking Yelp for likely lunch spots. - Reuben sandwich was one of the best I've had. Excellent. - Veggie sandwich also is very good per my vegetarian spouse. The menu has plenty of options for vegetarians. - I got a taste of their entry for the chili competition, which was being offered at a good deal including a beer, and it was some of the best chili I've had in Oregon. If it were later in the day and we didn't have a drive ahead of me, I'd have gone for that (but the reuben called to me as well). - Nice seating area. - I didn't check out the market too closely but it seemed to be filled with sundries you'd expect in a place named Good Earth. Great all you can eat buffet breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a, to 2 pm. Hours may change at times, so check before you go. I've been there twice in November and the buffet is amazing. Here is a bypass stop off Hwy 97 to Bend that Gluten-Freers would kill for even in Portland... same menu prices for GF house made teff wraps and english muffin bread. Several GF pastry case selections too: Choc chip cookies, rasp scones, etc Mushroom feta spinach Frittata was not as tasty as expected with boxed egg flavor underlying the tang and silkiness of the feta and 'shroom topping. Homemade GF toasted English muffin bread small, like other name brand loaves held firm with butter and both for $7 was worth the try. The Full at $12, added the hashbrowns that were crisp and curled thin bacon, just aok. Americano was on the weaker spectrum of roast and boldness, but still pleasant. Would ask for another shot on return. Next time GF options: Sausage Crepes, lasagne, green chile enchiladas 3.5 Stars for the Incredible selection of house made grub at cafeteria prices, beer buch wine and natural grocer, rounding out an amazing find in Madras, population 6,046 in 2017-18! read more

I normally don't write bad reviews. However, this needs to be addressed. I ordered a salad with no cheese. When I got to my car the salad had cheese on it. No big deal, so I went back into the store and asked for it to be remade. The girl who was handling the cash register went to remake the salad. She didn't wash her hands or use gloves, and right in front of me used her bare dirty hands to start making the salad. I was so grossed out I asked for a refund and left. And not one of the three workers apologized for the inconvenience. Sadly, this place is extremely unsanitary and should be avoided. read more
