This is the piece that was broken on the drain. Zoom in.. someone zip tied it.

First of all, let me start by saying I never post bad reviews, but this was such a bad experience. I feel like it's important in this situation, especially because families travel to get there and the kids are completely let down when what's promised is not at all what they experience. It's always been such a special time for our family. We travel in our RVs with about 3-5 other families each year and bring our grands. They have always asked to come back year after year. Sadly enough, this year will be our last for the group. We were so disappointed at how run down it was. It was so bad that there was algae in the pools, the restrooms at the pools were disgusting, the trash cans were overflowing and never were emptied at night, at one point we had no water and then when the water came back on, we lost water pressure frequently to the point it was impossible to take showers in the evening or wash dishes. The water park pool was dangerous. The overflow PVC inserts that cover the long lateral overflow section, right where kids are playing and walking to the tables, was broken in one spot and it was an ER visit waiting to happen. I reported it 3 times over a 3 day period and still it was not getting addressed. Someone put a chair over it (seriously?) finally, at the end of day 3 I found an employee that walked through the water park and he replaced it. However, had I not flagged him down, I feel like it would have been ignored. I saw the same 4 employees from Thursday to Sunday. It's too large of a property with so much planned not to have staffing. When I reported that the bathrooms needed some attention, I was told that they didn't have any housekeeping staff. Really?!?!?! The adult pool had mustard algae and black algae all over the place. Who knows the last time it had been cleaned. The activities for each day were posted and the majority of them never took place. For the ones that took place, there was not enough staff to have the activity and the poor staff that was working had no idea what was even going on. At one point the teenage girl working asked my friend and I if we knew how to do tie die t-shirts. Our 8 & 9 year old grands were able to help themselves. They did not have any tie dye colors mixed up to prepare for the activity, so the kids had to wait an hour before the one teenage girl working could get some made up. There were too many kids not to have proper staffing. They advertised a movie in the park each night. It never took place. There was supposed to be a fun foam party and when another group of kids came in asking about it, the one teenage girl working in the Activity Center said "I guess I have to do that too!" It was clear that no one has kept up with maintenance of the property and training for the staff seemed non existent. The teenage kids working there were doing their best, but it was just too much. The dog park poop trash can had not been emptied the entire 4 days we were there. We pick up after our dogs. I realize that others don't always pick up, but it was so bad in the park that our German Shepherds wouldn't even roam the dog park. It was pretty disgusting. The large trash bins overflowed and by the end of 4 days, it was just absolutely ridiculous. If you are going to advertise that you have Putt-Putt. Last time I checked it requires you have golf balls. There were 2 at any given time and it wasn't because it was busy. It's so sad that I even had to write this. What a complete waste of such a beautiful property.

    2 pools looked like this

Little disappointed. Pricey like jellystone but not near the amenities, advertised 3 pools , only 1 was not green and it wasn't very clean The staff very friendly. I believe just not enough of them Luckily our grandsons are young enough they had a great time Jessica very helpful

So much fun! Clean rooms, friendly staff and so many things for the kids to do! The water slides created hours of entertainment! But the kids also enjoyed the crafts and games at the activity center along with Laser tag, the pool, the glow ride around the park, the Wibit obstacle course, putt putt golf and so much more! We loved the clean rooms, and friendly staff!

Update: We returned to Great Escapes and let me tell you they have it figured out! The staff was amazing, the facilities were even better, it was the best time. I am so thankful that management was so nice and helpful this time. Everyone knew what was going on and was happy to assist. I can't wait to go back!

Welcome to Mitchell Resort and RV Park!

Time to update my review. Best I can figure, we've been coming here about 15 years. Mitchell has grown like crazy. There are now 46 cabins, 112 RV spots, 4 swimming pools, miniature golf, a 9 hole golf course, fishing lake, baseball field, off leash dog park, remote control car race track, and the whole park is just gorgeous. Labor Day weekend, Elvis was in the house! Saturday, the egg toss was so much fun! Sunday afternoon was free dill pickle day! Pucker up! Sunday night, Elvis had all the ladies swooning, and all the men playing in his band! We really had a blast. Now, a few reviews talk about the rude owners. We have known Kevin and Doris since they bought the place. They are strict, but for a reason. This is a family oriented park, period. No trouble, no bull. If you think you are going to come here, drink too much, and get out of hand, your wrong. You WILL be escorted out of the park, and not invited back. Believe me, everyone appreciates this. Of course drinking is allowed, just keep it family friendly. Just an hours drive from DFW, you need to come check out this park. You'll have a great weekend, and you might see me and Glenda!

Our kids hitched a ride with the Armadillo choochoo all weekend to go from clubhouse to pool.

Ask the Community - Great Escapes RV Resorts North Texas

Is there still a 9-hole golf course here? I had heard new owners did away with it. And if it's still here, is it open to the public? Or just for people staying here?

It is gone. They added more sites. It's a shame.

The accommodations were clean, amazing large rooms and comfy beds! Our a/c was fantastic and did a great job keeping the room cold, even in the heat of the day. The park offers so many fun activities that the kids never get bored! We always stay an extra day so that we can spend quality time with the kids and try to do as many of the activities as possible. This year they had two new attractions - the snowless snowboarding and I can't remember the name of the other one, but they were awesome! They also have employees who specialize in helping organize large groups with their accommodations. We have had the same person helping our family for going on 5 years now. Her name is Darla and she is our "hero" when it comes to Jellystone! Honestly, she is the reason we always vote to come back year after year. At the previous place that we held our reunion for over 15 years, they sold and we became just a number to them. Darla has treated us as family from day one. Always so thorough and pays such close attention to details. Jellystone sure has a secret gem with her! We will be back in 2027 for another memory making weekend! Thanks Jellystone!

This used to be one of our favorite places to visit for a close to home stay. This last visit was…read morethe absolute worst! My family has stayed at Jellystone many times over the years. The park and its hospitality is a fraction of what it used to be. 1. They are NOT maintaining facilities like the used to. The bed in the newer grain bin 561 was hard as a rock. I emailed them at 3am and asked someone to call first thing in the morning that didn't happen. When I went down to the office the Assistant Manager informed me of how busy she was. I told her we lived locally and wanted to check out early as the accommodations were not as they have been in the past. She said she could not refund or partial refund so a manager needed to call me. I gave her my number and the manager still called my husband who was not with us and did not get back to me in the timeline discussed. The manager said this was my fault because I didn't work with them. Ma'am, I waited hours for your team to contact me and be proactive they didn't. I don't work for you. The manager also mentioned that she had not received other reviews about uncomfortable beds. There is literally one on Google from last week that they responded to. She also told me they don't do refunds but she would offer me a $350 credit despite all the issues reported. $350 on $1000 waisted! Despite setting the ac to 66 the room never got cold. I would say 72 at best that's being generous I'm usually cold at 71. It was never cold. Even sleeping with the sheet felt hot. We paid $1000 and change for 2 nights, one of which we did not stay due to the poor facilities and service. 2. They now require your photo id AND a picture of you. I just handed you my government issued photo id I'm declining an additional photo. She said well we have to make sure it's you. In other words we are taking your photo comparing it to your id with a software or ai of some sort. That is the capturing and storing of my personal biometric data. No. The lady insisted it was their policy. I said well you will need to check me in or refund me. 3. We were there with family who rented 3 cabins, all the cabins and the silo smelled weird. Driving around cabins had holes in them. It was just an eyesore to look at. 4. Most of the activities that used to be available first thing were not available until 10 or after. Kids are there on vacation, they are not sleeping in, they want to have fun. Used to you could wake up and go to the activities barn. No it's closed until 10. No mini golf until 10. Pool 10. Water park 11. The times for most things being open are not well posted. This is new, it's not always been this way and should be better communicated. There was a serious lack of communication and planning on the park's end. The jump pillow is no longer covered. So it's useable for a couple hours in the morning and evening. It looks like y'all poured your money into the new attractions and didn't maintain facilities or the staff to keep areas open for there to be a variety of things to do. They finally refunded me $450.
