Avoid Great Expressions Dental on San Jose. Bad practice managers. We walked in great expressions dental center at 12420 San Jose blvd. Jacksonville FL 32223 and signed in for our appointment. The woman, Brooke, handed me a bill for $165. Surprised, I explained that my child has Medicaid as a secondary. She said you have to pay this first or we WILL NOT see him, then we will credit your account when Medicaid comes through. She said they would not refund my money directly, only credit the account. I reminded her that my other son had the exact same thing done with the same insurance and same doctor just a few years prior and we were not hit with a surprise bill. She said this is how it is. She did not double check our insurance, she did not try to investigate. Just threatened to cancel his appointment if I did not pay. Upset now, I said Well, obviously then I have no choice since he needs this work done. I signed the paper and attempted to give it to the woman I had been talking to- Brooke, but another woman came from behind her and said Well NOW your procedure is cancelled because you are rude. I had just heard the threat of my child's care being cancelled two times and I'm not supposed to be upset? And now here's a new reason for cancelling him?? It turns out they had the incorrect insurance. They never collected my insurance cards, they never bothered to investigate why this was so different from my last son's experience, they just said I was rude for questioning and being upset by an unexpected bill and cancelled his appointment. We've had so many appointment cancelled without even knowing until we walked in- We left due to poor office management before, and we only came back here for Dr. Moore to do my son's extractions. Man was that a mistake. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Had an appointment I scheduled online for 10:40am today and receive a call stating the dentist only see certain patients on Mondays Wednesday and Fridays. Will only see adult patients on Tuesday and Thursday. However when reschedule the exact same schedule that was online was provided. The lady on the line despite having my file up knew nothing I already provided and made zero attempts to ask if I wanted a different day. Just said ok bye and hung up. Mind you the appointment she end up saying I would have to talk is one 4/22. If the appointment wasn't available then I shouldn't be about to schedule it. Do better! read more

My boys have both been going here for years and we love Kristen our dentist. The staff has been great at setting their appointments and do a great job on their cleanings. We will continue to see her for their care read more

Mrs Moore and staff are awesome!!! We drove an hr half for a consultation and I had asked if they could go ahead and do some work on my daughters teeth so she nor I would have to miss another day of school (teacher) it did take another 1.5hrs HOWEVER they got to work immediately, took a break so she could attend to another patient. I loved Dr. Taba. She was always kind and thorough and I never experienced any pain in cleanings. However when she retired and great expressions took over the entire practice went downhill. I immediately switched after my second cleaning under the new management. They caused so much pain and bleeding and I didn't even get to see a doctor during either visit. They also billed insurance incorrectly and randomly canceled an appointment. Go anywhere but great expression. I definitely wouldn't go here nor would I risk any of their other locations. read more

They cancel your appointments without even telling you until u get there. This has happened to me twice now. I took the kids out of school early for their appointments, drive all the way there and they tell me they're cancelled.... They also say someone called and left a message but when I showed them my phone that no one called or left a message, no apology, just said they could reschedule!! I really hope there's another dentist around who takes my insurance. This was the final straw with this place!!!! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I can see by other reviews that I'm not the only person that has had their appointments cancelled with no notice or apology. They've done it to me twice now. I showed up for an appt yesterday and was told it was cancelled. No apology or anything, said they notified me. When I asked the woman at the desk to see when I was notified, she said oh we don't have that information. Not sure if they still have the "one" floating hygienist or if they've managed to hire someone. I won't be going back EVER. read more

Dr Moore and her entire staff are all wonderful. Everyone is so nice and friendly and remember you, making you feel more then just a patient. They did a great job on my two crowns and I love the outcome! read more

I really like Dr. Moore, however, the scheduling for this office is a mess. For my last appt, I was rescheduled 3 times, then my appt was outright cancelled the day of. This happens often with both my appts and my family's. Not only that but my daughter needs a filling and they couldn't fit her in for 3 months! We're switching offices. read more

Kristen Moore is the best of the best for dentistry including reshaping teeth beautifully. The font office person that is normally there isn't quite as nice. Dr Taba was great until she sold her practice to these people. Every time I came in they they required treatments that I never needed with dr Taba. Every treatment wasn't covered on my PPO plan. They also kept requiring services that would go above what the insurance would cover. We would get calls that we need a cleaning and later find out we have exceeded the yearly cleaning amount. They called either me or my husband to come in for a cleaning and they would look at our teeth and say ok it is fine or clean 1 tooth Just remember if you go to their office you would most likely have to pay extra costs that would not be covered in your insurance plan. Examples fluoride is extra Fluoridex daily rinse is extra Oraqix is extra Irrigation full mouth is extra Arestin is extra and charged per tooth All these charges are not covered under the insurance plan So beware and get ready to pay if you go to them You might still get a bill 1 year later because they can't keep up with their billing system read more

I just left this office never to return. I had an appointment in December and got to see Dr. Moore. I liked her a lot. But I don't know who manages the office but no one ever answers the phone and generally speaking does not return messages. I called at least 6 times to schedule the original appointment and finally utilized the on line scheduling on the website only to get a call the day before telling me that the appointment I scheduled on line was not available. They personally scheduled me at that time. My appointment in December turned out to be a "consultation" when I expected a cleaning. The December appointment resulted in a treatment plan including a crown and cleaning that was scheduled for February. I left with an appointment card for 1:00pm. The week leading to the February appointment, I received 2 automated reminders/confirmations for 11:10am. I called the office 3 times on separate days leading up to my appointment to confirm the actual time of my appointment. I finally DID receive a call back message stating my appointment was at 1:00pm. When I arrived at the office on the day of my appointment, I was told my appointment was at 12 noon. I'm sure they work very hard and apparently have enough patients that it doesn't matter if they add to their load, but I am really concerned that if I do have work done and need assistance, I will never be able to get anyone to response to my needs. Maybe I am asking too much, but I don't think so.....just answer the phone and return calls. The 2nd star is just for personally liking the dentist, can't review the quality of that service. read more

I gave this office multiple tries, as they were recommended and gave the impression of being equipped to handle sensitive patients. Unfortunately, they were not able to numb me and continued the work while I suffered. That, plus the constant bullying to have x-rays, sent me elsewhere. read more

Dr. Moore is great & really cares for her patients. I actually switched to her new location because I could not bare to see another Dentist. Don't pay any attention to the guy who gave a one star. Dr. Moore doesn't do cleanings or the billing, she is the dentist and this is not a private practice. I have had a cleaning cancelled before because it was scheduled for a regular cleaning which is not what I needed. Most insurance companies don't pay 100% for specialized cleaning because it is not preventive care, its fixing a problem you already have. read more

I am very disappointed how I have been treated in this office and by Dr Moore. I previously was a patient of Dr Taba's since middle school, I'm in my 40's now. I stayed with the practice when they switched over to Great Expressions. I was told I needed a crown and was very hesitant. Dr Moore talked me into getting one and said not to worry that I take care of my teeth and would have no problems. Less than 2 years its not fitting correctly and giving me pain. I went in today and they refuse to fix the problem and with my insurance plan they will not cover another crown on that tooth for another 3 years. It is also a huge issue of getting surprise bills in the mail months later. My dad, daughter, mother in law, and sister in law go there and ALL have received surprise bills after amount is paid in full at office. I have switched to Smile Care and treated nicely with no surprise bills! I am in process of getting this fixed through my dental insurance since Dr Moore has refused to help me in any way. Shocking and surprising bc she seems so friendly. Beware!!! read more

Dr.Moore is amazing and conservative!!!!!! The other people that commented and gave one star are obviously clueless when it comes to dentistry. It sounds like these patients have gum disease and weren't being treated properly by Dr. Taba, which is called malpractice. I know for a fact that Dr. Moore is a wonderful and caring dentist and would not recommend any treatment that is not necessary!!!! As far as charges go a lot of insurance companies will pay for FL and some won't if you as a patient want to know your coverages please call your insurance company and ask what they cover and why they don't cover things like FL after a certain age because anybody can get cavities. So before you start reviewing caregivers, please make sure your educated on the topic and if you don't like you doctors recommendations, get a second opinion. Don't lie in reviews, not necessary, just move on. read more

Mandarin office is much better than the one I used to go to in Jax Beach. I like that I see the same dentist every time. The cleanings I've had at the Mandarin office are quick and efficient, which I appreciate. They also show you exactly how much everything will cost beforehand if you need work done. Everything has been great, until this week. I have been calling for 3 days straight and have yet to get an actual human being on the phone. Left 2 messages and no one calls me back to re-schedule an appointment. I ended up calling another location to make sure the place hadn't burned down or something! That's when I learned that if you submit an appointment request online, it goes to an outside company that will actually call you back. Lesson learned! Use the online system! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH DR. MOORE!!!Dr. Taba was great, then Great Expressions took over and now they are just swindlers! My wife went in for routine check up and cleaning and was told they did not have time to do the cleaning. So she wasted her time and a day off from work. So when it was my turn to go I asked them straight out "will we be doing the cleaning today?" Yes they said. THEY LIED! After the exam they tried to sell me the cleaning my insurance pays for at an additional amount all totaled close to $300.00 !! For a cleaning? I refused and left. I called back to see if they filed a claim with my insurance company and sure enough they are. Getting paid for refusing to complete a service I don't see how that can be right. read more
