You walk in and the smell off fresh baked bread makes you want to grab a coffee, get a freshly baked cinnamon roll or cookies and just take it all in. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Gotta say... the first Great Harvest Bakery appeared in my home town in Great Falls, Montana in 1975! It was started by a young couple who came into town and changed the perception of a bakery! I was 17 and my best friend worked there. Nowadays there are hundreds of franchise owners I'm told, yet the Willamette location is so similar to what I remember from the past! Ya gotta try go there. This place has the best bread I've come across in Eugene. They also have amazing rolls, if a loaf is daunting to you. The place is also a restaurant, and their sandwiches are incredibly delicious. If you're down at that part of town and looking for a small meal, you can't do better. The sweets are less interesting to me, because while I love bread, I don't like cookies and so on. I went here with my friend for the first time today and it was amazing. I got a pumpkin bar and an iced mocha. The pumpkin bar was fantastic! The cream cheese frosting was not too sweet and the dusting on top was a perfect touch. The bread itself was moist and flavorful. The mocha was also delicious and well-made. The restaurant is clean and has a good amount of seating. They have a lot of options to choose from, along with packaged bread that is fresh-baked. I definitely want to come back many times in the future! The people working here are so friendly and clearly love their jobs. Great Harvest has taken over the old Skopil's location near 26th & Willamette. They make some interesting breads, pastries, and other goodies. I went to pick up some hot cross buns for Easter and also ended up with some jams that they sell there too. They had some really adorable bunny-shaped bread but since they have honey in the recipe, it will have to wait for next year when my kiddo is over the magical age of one and can have honey. The rolls, though... yummy, I'm glad I'm a grown-up and honey is A-OK for me! They also have sandwiches and coffee, too. I picked up a couple sandwiches; a turkey pesto and reuben. Both were good. Great Harvest Bread is located across from Tsunami Books, with 2 small parking lots. Not knowing that Great Harvest Bread is a franchise, I was thrilled to see Great Harvest Bread come up on my Yelp search because I had tried Great Harvest Bread in Anchorage, Alaska last month (loved it so much that I ended up visiting that location twice during my trip). So after finding it on Yelp, immediately my husband and I made a stop here this morning, around 9:30 am. When we walked in, there was a line but we were greeted by a friendly employee behind the counter. We ended up purchasing: 16 oz Chai, $4.25- Ordered this drink hot for my husband. He thought the chai was okay (I didn't have any). Cinnamon Roll, $4- I overheard one of the employees telling one of the customers that she has some cinnamon rolls in the oven and that they will be ready in about 5 minutes. So I ended up ordering one for my husband (with a drizzle icing, as the employee had asked). She brought it out to us on a tray and it was nice and warm and just perfect. The size was pretty big and perfect for sharing. Cheddar and Chive Biscuit, $3.25- Cheese and chives is a great combination and decided to try this. It was nice that this was still warm when the employee gave it to me. I liked the flavor of the cheese and thought there was a nice spread out amount of chives in each bite. I really liked this biscuit and would order this again. Sample of Pumpkin Chocolate Chip- I love how generous Great Harvest Bread is with their samples. My husband I shared a large size sample and it was delicious. The pumpkin and chocolate chip had a nice complementary taste that wasn't too overly sweet. The slice of bread itself was nice and soft. ---------------------------------- (Total= $11.50) Service was friendly. But there was some wait for my husband's chai tea, as I think we were the last ones to get his drink to be made (although I know that there were a few people after us that ordered their drinks and they got it before us). Well what can you really say about this place. Great harvest bakes all its bread, pastries and cookies in house. It is one of the last few bakeries that exists in this terrible world. The sandwiches are always fresh and delicious. In Eugene Oregon ( a town of nuts) they still manage to find some of the kindest and most helpful people to work there. I always love the clean inside. It is so good! They bake fresh daily and sell plain white, whole wheat, some with fruit. Many rolls, dinner and sweet. The baking kitchen is in full view so you can watch the bakers prepare the bread that will be for sale soon. I had picked up two big loaves to buy and the cashier warned me fresh bread should be eaten within a week. It seems she thought I was buying too much. I put one back and only bought one. YUM. That's all you really need to know! I received a free cookie coupon in a monthly-ish publication and decided to try it out. They have a few options and I must always try the snickerdoodle wherever I am. It was just the right size, almost too much for one "snack" but it was cooked perfectly. It wasn't overwhelming on the cinnamon or sugar, and I think it just reminded me of a plain doodle, no snicker. But anyway, I figured while I was there I should see what else they have and my goodness, the bread and comfort options! I grabbed a make-at-home soup mix (broccoli cheddar) and a loaf of the garlic cheddar bread. Between these two items it was $17, which seems steep but the soup has roughly 5 servings when complete and the loaf is sizable. I snapped a pic of the cinnamon rolls on my way out because my husband loves them and I am definitely going to come back for one of those (they have a marionberry option!). So far, other than immediately scarfing down the cookie, I've tried just the loaf and it is AMAZING. It is so good on its own, your breath might not be amazing after but who cares? I loved it. Good thing my husband isn't a garlic fan because now it is all for me. Who doesn't love great harvest? I know it's a chain, but they do such a phenomenal job of managing each separate location so it feels like a local bakery. They make everything in house and always offer a sample of whatever breads they are slicing that day. They DO have gluten free bread! It is not celiac though, so just beware. They do a good job trying to keep it separate so if you have a sensitivity you will be fine, but note that it is not a designated gluten free facility. They typically serve the gluten free bread on their regular menu on Mondays and Thursdays, but this can change so always call before you go in. Great sandwiches at a really affordable price. They also serve coffee and pastries if you're looking for a quick pick-me-up. The staff is wonderful. You really have no reason not to go in unless you hate bread (which I do not understand). read more

This place is amazing. Definitely some of the best bread I've ever had, and I've tried lots of Seattle artisan bakery breads. I walked in and was immediately offered some samples, which was awesome! I tried the honey whole wheat which was the best whole wheat bread I've ever tasted, and the cheddar garlic roll, which was also really darn good. I ended up buying a loaf of onion dill bread, which I've been using for sandwiches, as toast, and just eating plain. It's soft and fluffy while still being hearty at the same time. I also tried a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin, which was wonderfully moist and well-flavored, and a day-old cinnamon roll, which was also quite delicious, although somewhat chewy. I will definitely be back here, and I highly recommend this place! While I was studying here, they started baking some more bread, and it smelled wonderful. Can't believe it took me this long to visit the Great Harvest Bread Co, and I must say Great is an understatement. Melissa helped my buddies and I out and provided us with elite hospitality. Chicken pecan sandwich was delightful. The samples were awesome and their baked goods section was mouthwatering. This was the second time I've eaten goodies from GH, but only my first visit to the shop. It's very low key with loaves of bread on shelving to the left, a discount shelf straight ahead, and a kitchen you can see into from the sales counter. They seem to be doing a good job with Covid protocols, including a plexiglass shield up at the counter and employees wearing masks. The employee I interacted with was really friendly, too! Now to the fun part: the food. I got four products: a blueberry cream cheese scone, a peach marionberry buckle bar, a marionberry oat muffin, and a day old brownie (sold for 50% off). The muffin was tasty--lots of fruit but not overly sweet because of the oatmeal. The muffin top, of course, was the best: crispy toward the edges but soft in the middle. The brownie, on the other hand, was very sweet, which is exactly how I like my brownies. If you see these on the "day old" discount rack, don't be deterred: the one I had was still soft in the middle and crispy on the top, just like a brownie should be. The blueberry cream cheese scone was good, but my least favorite of the four. The cream cheese wasn't swirled through the one I got--just kind of a block/blob near the middle. Still tasty, but next time, I'll look for a fruit only scone. My favorite, favorite, favorite from this visit was the peach marionberry buckle bar. (Not actually sure if they called it a buckle, but that's what it reminds me of.) I had this the day after and it was still delish, if not a bit softer. But oh man! The ratio of fruit to crumble was perfect. It wasn't overly sweet, and it was just the touch of summer I needed in the dreary winter. Because of the time of year, I would imagine they're using canned or frozen fruit but it absolutely didn't taste like that at all--it tasted like happiness. I'll definitely be stopping in more often to see if that bar is available, and let's be honest, to check out those giant cinnamon roles that are the size of my head. (Note: I believe the brownie and the bar had coconut in them. They weren't specially marked as such, so if you've got allergies, it seems like good practice to ask about ingredients here:) read more

They don't have a fancy coffee menu, but they did have some inexpensive self-serve coffee, and it was actually really good. If you're looking for the perfect companion to a cup of coffee, look no further than their salted caramel cookie. The cookie is thin, but HUGE and good for sharing. It's a little chewy, a little crispy, just right. And very nicely priced under $2. Did I mention how well it pairs with a cup of coffee? Try it and you'll see... On your first visit, they offer you a free sample of one of their various breads or cookies/muffins. I chose their famous Dakota bread, a honey whole-wheat with sunflower, pumpkin, and sesame seeds. It's a really great hearty bread, and I was given a very generous slice, along with some quality butter. It was a small meal by itself, and who doesn't love free stuff? Came back a couple days later for a chicken salad sandwich, and was not let down. I had it on the Dakota bread, and that was the right move. The chicken salad was delicious and nicely portioned, and the use of thinly sliced red onion really made it pop. And at under 7 bucks, the price was right. Would definitely order again. I sampled some of their trail mix, which I really enjoyed. It had pumpkin seeds, golden raisins, nuts, and other stuff. They sell bags of it for a very reasonable $5. Oh, they had good music playing both times I visited, and the people working there are very pleasant. One thing -- there's no wi-fi. We have a Great Harvest Bread Company at home in RI and I hadn't realized it is part of a chain. The honey whole wheat is among the best breads I've ever had - and it tastes the same here. It seems that each franchise offers a few standards across all locations and a few site-specific specials, along with available local products (honey, etc). My turkey sandwich had great flavor, but about an hour later I realized how salty that deli turkey was. So sad there was no tuna available in Eugene! I bought a moist and tasty raspberry bar that would have been big enough to share three ways. I stopped in here on my way home to Salem. I was looking for lunch and ended up ordering their Reuben sandwich (it was the special of the day I believe). Oh my deliciousness! The homemade bread was amazing & so fresh. The sandwich itself was cooked as a melt and oozed with flavor. The dressing on it was dripping out which is a classic sign of an amazing sandwich to me. I had to take treats home to the kids and granddaughter so I bought brownies (Wow...makes my mouth water just writing this as they were so moist and yummy), I took home some bread (the popeye bread is outstanding), and I also took home some soups. Tortilla soup and another one I can not remember the name of. It doesn't matter though as it was good. I just added broth and some other items to it once I got home and the whole family enjoyed the soups. I will be back when I'm in town again to get more soups, breads and delicious bakery items. The sandwich was horrible. The meat was flavorless but pumped up with additives like a sponge. The bread was tasteless. The coleslaw limp. Most annoying, both sides of the bread was slathered in about a half inch of bright yellow mustard that was not listed on the menu. Oh my my. You can't get much better than Great Harvest! My husband, my mother in law and I were pulling out of Tsunami Books (across the street) when we saw Great Harvest and we HAD to go!! We had all three not had it in many many years, and it's pretty unforgettable. They have loaves of bread and other things, as well as lots of fresh pastry items you can get while there! Muffins, cookies, bread pudding, just to name a few. I got a chocolate pumpkin muffin while there (MY FAVORITE) and my mother in law got an oatmeal chocolate cookie, and my husband got bread pudding! They were all delicious! We also got a loaf of cinnamon chip bread, which we ate every morning for about a week. So so so delicious and yummy! If you've never been...now is the time to go!! read more
