Yay! They expanded '. It's a beautiful location & they have grown this past year to having a pick up window too ! Always friendly staff. We loved our choices - the home run potatoes were a bit underwhelming- lacking flavor -my biscuit was perfect tho - not too dry. We love this spot !!!!

Stopped by while road tripping up to Portland. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh. I loved the bolognese. There were also some free handmade cards to take. Service was great and the whole atmosphere was very pleasant.

The breakfast muffins are very tasty and filling. The coffee is pretty tasty and the (counter) service is good. What's more is this is a local business.

I was running errands in this area of town, and stopped in to pick some sandwiches for my husband and I. As well as some chocolate chip cookies! Parking was a little competitive, so I was nervous that the wait was gonna be pretty long. But, it was quick to order and quick to get my food! And, the staff were really friendly. I got the Goat Herder Sandwich for my hubby- with goat cheese, arugula and more! And I ordered the Farm Stand for myself! It was perfect! And, hit the spot. I stole a bite of my hubby's sandwich and that was amazing! And, we both thought their chocolate chip cookies were the best we have had in Eugene. Sorry, I didn't take a lot of pictures today, but trust me it was tasty!

TL;DR amazing coffee shop, foods "garnishes" could have had more to it, seating is plentiful but feels crowded. You know it's a good coffee shop when I am nitpicking on seating. I really enjoyed my visit to this coffee shop/bakery. Some of the most unique and flavorful breakfast food but quantity left me wanting more. The Jewel, with a delicious peppered jelly, is an amazing breakfast sandwich. But for $9 for a breakfast sandwich, I feel like it could have added a second piece of bacon as opposed to the single strip down the middle. It felt like it needed more sustenance to it. Good coffee with lots of classic options and a couple specials There is plenty of seating, which almost is part of the issue. The shop Itself is fairly small and therefore feels a little packed. To be fair, it was a little too cold for the outside seating which I am sure would help it feel much more open

This is our new favorite breakfast stop. The servers are all friendly and patient. The bread is phenomenal. I am not vegan but love their carrot "lox's" and cashew "cream cheese". We ended up going two days in a row!

Cold brew and cinnamon roll to go!

The biscuit and gravy tasted great, although they could've been a wee bit hotter temp wise. Bordered on being luke-warm, but the flavor and texture were tasty-though it had a touch of sweetness, which I'm not a fan of. The biscuit itself was great! Cold-brew decent! I drank it black and it was smooth and a lighter blend. I took a cinnamon roll to go, hot out of oven, and it definitely stole the show. The tables filled up fast, but the ambiance wasn't as homey as I prefer-kind of sterile inside. They had a ton of kids working in there with one older guy at the cash register. The owner? Not sure but it reminded me of a church camp kinda vibe. The younger guy who took over register right before I left was definitely friendlier. If you're craving a homemade cinnamon roll then you should definitely try theirs.

Friendly staff. biscuits and gravy - always good, but I noticed it could be served warmer. The few times I've gotten it has been on the luke warm side. Delicious as always, but could be better 4.5/5 Turkey bacon avocado sandwich- solid! Comes with pickles 4/5 ASK for the house habanero sauce 5/5

Some of the other reviews were negative on their food...but our food was fantastic. The burgers were moist and not greasy. The waffle cut fries were hot and crispy. The bartenders work non stop to get your drinks and food out quickly. My daughter loved the churro style donuts (but they are messy). The decor is a D&D dive bar scene....so many things to look at as you wait for bingo to start. They just changed the rules and you do have to pay $1.00 per person to play bingo...but where else can you get that type of entertainment for a dollar. We can't wait to return.

At one point, the bartender disappeared for approximately fifteen minutes, leaving several patrons waiting without acknowledgment. When she finally returned, she casually mentioned she had been on a personal phone call. A second woman then stepped behind the bar, immediately clarifying that she was not, in fact, a bartender. When I expressed concern about the extended absence and lack of service--something I would consider standard feedback in any hospitality setting--I was abruptly told I was "speaking badly" about the staff and was asked to leave. This kind of defensiveness and disregard for patrons is deeply unprofessional, especially for an establishment that positions itself within a community where communication, accountability, and mutual respect are paramount. Eugene has a growing nightlife and alternative culture scene, and many people--locals and visitors alike--expect spaces that uphold those values. Based on my experiences, I cannot recommend The Serpent & the Sparrow. There are other venues in town that offer a far more welcoming environment, competent service, and a genuine respect for their patrons.

The food was pretty typical greasy spoon breakfast, which is exactly what I wanted. Solid meal and much appreciated at that hour. I think I heard then say they opened at 4am. On our first morning in our new town, we went to The Original Pancake House for breakfast. It was a simple meal, but one we were grateful we could afford. When we asked for the check, our server smiled and told us someone had already paid for it. That small act of kindness made me feel like I truly belonged in our new home. It reminded me that even in an unfamiliar place, there were good people who cared about others. Since that day, every time we visit The Original Pancake House, we make it a point to pay it forward whenever we can. It's our way of honoring the kindness that meant so much to us and has stuck with me. Beyond the beautiful memory, the food is incredible. It's hands down the best breakfast I've ever had. Comfort food that tastes like it's made with love. You must try the Dutch baby! The ladies who work there are always so warm and welcoming, making every visit feel like coming home. The Original Pancake House in Eugene is a charming, family-friendly spot with genuine warmth and stellar coffee. The casual, lively vibe makes it feel like the proper brunch destination you'd hope for from a legendary breakfast joint. We ordered their hero dish--a side of buttermilk pancakes--and the Irish Omelette. The pancakes delivered real flavor: fluffy, tender, with classic buttermilk tang. My only critique? They arrived cool, likely from sitting in the warmth window a bit too long. Off the griddle, these would shine. The Irish Omelette was more disappointing. Designed to be airy and light with corned beef and potatoes inside, ours was overcooked and rubbery--far from the delightful, pillowy texture it should be. For a restaurant with this history, execution should be consistent. The coffee and service were warm and attentive, which goes a long way. 3/5 stars. Worth visiting for atmosphere, especially if your pancakes arrive hot. Try during slower service to avoid the window-sit fate. The Portland location executes at a higher level.
