As far as the restaurant goes I didn't care for the taste of the coffee plus I wanted to use a sugar substitute due to my diet. I was disappointed that they only had the low end, unhealthy pink "Sweet N Low". When they brought the order to our table they had the home fried potatoes on the wrong person's plate. I ordered the omelette and it was dry and definitely overcooked the color of the eggs looked more like hash browns They use low end napkins that were thin, abrasive and non absorbent. About half the seats were wooden resembling a picnic table On a positive note my friend got the tuna salad melt and it looked good. They had a man playing a violin which was nice. read more

A lot of good stuff to choose from. There's eggs along with plant based options including tofu scramble and other stuff. Came at breakfast. It's a pretty popular place judging by the crowds. They have a pretty big menu. Lots of choices. There's a lot of egg stuff including omelets and scrambles among these. It's $12 for the Mexican Scramble. This is a mixture of cheese, eggs, onions, peppers, and tomatoes. Get plant based. This changes eggs to tofu. Hard to tell the difference in our opinion. This also comes with beans, rice, salsa, and tortillas. Has the best breakfast around here. It's closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The atmosphere is fantastic, the menu offers a wide variety and there is definitely something for everyone. We were staying in an airbnb close enough to walk so we decided to grab food and coffee to-go. I ordered 4 mochas, 1 dirty chai, 2 bear claws, a loaf of bread, bisquits and gravy and an order of French toast. The sweet girl behind the counter who obviously was new and training was nervous but took our order and payment. I'm here to complain about the lack of training and attention to detail that was lacking from the experienced staff . After placing my order the girl training had no clue how to make the ordered drinks. Our food took about 27 minutes and was brought out by the kitchen staff. We still hadn't received our drinks and after another 5 minutes I asked about them. The trainer said they were backed up on drinks and she was sorry. I explained that we had received our food over 5 minutes ago and it was getting cold. The girl training didn't even know how to steam milk and the trainer instead of stepping in and showing her hands on just kept verbally trying to explain. After 30 minutes we received luke warm coffee and our food was cold. Bisquits and gravy weren't great, other than being cold there were 2 pieces of sausage and the bisquits were flat and looked like white pieces of toast. The cold french toast was good and so were the bear claws. We will definitely give it another go on another visit. Hoping the new staff can get better hands on training and maybe not train on a busy Saturday morning. read more

This is a counter service restaurant and bakery. I ordered the ham and cheese scramble with potatoes and toast. I did not like that there was just a bunch of cheese melted on top of my eggs and ham, as opposed to being incorporated throughout. My potatoes were not warm when they came out, nor was my toast, so they must have been sitting a while. And I found a hair in my food when I was almost done eating. My spouse said that their biscuits and gravy were gross, with undercooked mushrooms. I don't think I'll be back sadly unless it's to get a pastry. read more

That means I need the hot sauce I carry in the glove compartment or just ask for it, along with the salt and pepper. However- it's loaded w/ vegetarian options and they make their own bread. Also, the ambiance, service and PRICE of this place are worth that extra star- you havn't seen prices like this since 2000. I can't believe I've never tried this spot before considering how long it's been around! But I stopped in for lunch and I'm glad I did. I'll definitely add it to my rotation for breakfast/lunch. They have a pretty big menu and serve everything all day, which I appreciate. It is also reasonably priced. I got a tuna salad sandwich on toasted wheat bread. It came topped with lettuce and tomato. It was a very classic, solid sandwich and the bread was really good. (I kind of wish it had come with a side.) I also got a mini pecan pie which was so-so. The vibes are very hippie/classic...it just feels so Eugene to me. There is a ton of seating, both inside and outside. It was a nice day so I sat outside and it was a great atmosphere--the outdoor seating area is enclosed behind a fence with lots of nice landscaping so it feels very private and quiet. Stopped on after yoga class so I only needed a snack. The hibiscus lemonade was amazing. I enjoyed my blueberry muffin and my husband devoured a bean claw. We really liked the friendly and laid back vibe and what looked like a great and varied menu for breakfast and lunch. The cutest bakery ever! We stayed in Eugene for a week looking for a rental in the area, and New Day Bakery was only a short walk away from us. We walked over and picked out a few treats (I ordered the mushroom cream cheese pastry, and my partner ordered a bear claw, we split a strawberry cheesecake slice, and ordered an iced chai) and enjoyed them on the outdoor patio with our dog! It was a beautiful start to our day, and Kit was such a kind person who helped us. I would love to come back and visit this bakery again! We also brought back a loaf of their sourdough bread and have all but eaten every slice in the form of sandwiches and toast. I can't wait to come back! read more

We recently found out that this place has a much larger food menu that we thought so we added it to our weekend lunch options list. For our first time we ordered a calzone, a pizza and an omelette. The omelette was pretty good but the home fries that came with it I could live without, they had like taco seasoning on them and they were pretty soft and not crunchy. The calzone looked like a pizza just folded in half. I'm not sure if they use the same ingredients for both but the pizza was somehow better than the calzone. I was pleasantly surprised by the pizza and I'm definitely looking forward to coming back for more! read more

This business hasn't had an inspection in 12 years and it's abundantly clear from the filth you see there. They have a big jug to offer water out of but they don't change it or clean it. There's a man who works there that inappropriately touches his own employees but in the current economic climate there's nothing they can do about it because they need to keep their jobs. The food is inconsistent, sometimes it's okay and other times it's horrible. I've seen them sweep ants off of pastries before they send them out, they don't clean or change out their bins that they store baking goods in and the environment can be quite toxic. I hope the internet is wrong when it says this place hasn't had an inspection in over a decade, but it doesn't look like it. From the rusty bread pans to the filthy tables, the corners cut are dangerous to employees AND to customers. People are finding bugs and worms in the food, pastries covered in ants, are brushed off and sent out anyway, pie tins are re-used until they fall apart and become sharp as knives, all in the name of saving a dime. Mold can be smelled in the walk-in cooler all the way from the bathrooms at times, from there it's also plain to see that the claim of "organic" ingredients simply isn't true. The work environment is toxic and employees who are subjected to the harassment that goes on there know they'll lose their jobs if they speak out because they've seen it happen. Just be sure to check your food before you eat it, this place is NOT what it was 20 years ago, it's all watered down now, rushed, corners cut, and it's made by underpaid employees, some of whom are harassed on the job, all in a toxic work environment where they can't say anything or they'll be fired. Eugene is full of places with far better food at far better prices in cleaner and kinder establishments. read more

The sun filled courtyard was a charming first impression of what would become my favorite spot in Eugene. Stay and read a book or soak in some vitamin D. Their menu caused me to pause and take in all of the options. You can get pastries and coffee or chose from the made to order menu. Staff recommendations were on par (thanks Logan!). It was brunch time, and the Mexican scramble with corn tortillas was calling my name. Add a local brew, Sweet as! Pacific Ale, admittedly my favorite the rest of the week, and I was set. My mini had pancakes and hot tea. While admittedly biased (Logan is my daughter I was visiting), the entire staff was very nice, welcoming and cheerful and the owner went out of his way to host a private dinner for us... I can't express how happy to see her exude a sense of belonging and thrive in an environment so well suited for her work experience. Its located in 'The Whit' or Whitaker neighborhood, which is a vibrant cultural hub and the center of community and environmental activism and home to alternative artists (aka hippies). I love New Day. I think their food is awesome. Today I had an AMAZING cinnamon roll. Like delish. Undeniable. BUT--I used the restroom for the first time today. Pro: gender inclusive! Con: bar soap laying on a pot scrubber (super mushy)... and one of those awful fabric loops for hand drying. Super. Gross. Don't let this turn you off from the place--but just be aware that if you go, you should definitely take along some hand sanitizer because the bathroom won't cut it for germaphobes. This bakery has been a part of my life for 25 years! The owner is a kind gentle soul who takes really good care of his customers. His pecan pie is the very best I have ever had and the kale rolls are so special and delicious with a hearty bowl of soup. The only issue I have is a lack of cleanliness and hand washing hygiene when handling cards and cash, but to be fair that seems to be a common problem in eugene for some reason. read more

You order at the counter when you walk in, which is fine, except that the young woman taking orders has terrible customer service skills. She did not bring me what I ordered and told me that I ordered it wrong. When I asked if I could have what I originally ordered, she said she would bring it but she never did. Vegan options! At first glance, the menu here is extremely vegan unfriendly. Nowhere does it say tofu scramble. But looking at their ingredient list, I asked the cashier if they make them. To my surprise, they do. And they're quite good! Next time, I would pay extra to have them double up on the veggies, but otherwise this is a great breakfast. They also have tempeh, which is featured in a few dishes. This is not a greasy breakfast hangover food type of place. Everything here is quite light. Good coffee, good setting. Great local Bakery that serves Breakfast and Lunch until 6pm. We love that we can get breakfast there anytime. Everything is well made and at a fair price. On warmer days we like to sit in the enclosed courtyard. The staff are always very friendly and they make terrific Chai and Latte's. I am teetering on the stars. I wasn't blown away by this place, yet I don't think it deserves a 3. Maybe I need to try more menu items before making a solid conclusion. We stopped in with family, and friends on a Sunday. Thankfully there was plenty of seating, because after we ordered it started to fill up fast. I had the French toast, and peppermint tea. I usually don't order French toast, but for some reason nothing on the menu for breakfast sounded appealing to me, and I don't think it was quite time for the lunch items. The French toast was average. I would order it again if we were there for breakfast, and that is what I was in the mood for. I can't recall what everyone else ordered, I do remember thinking everyone's food looked great. There was an Apple turn over ordered that I had bites of, it was okay. I felt it was some what bland. But maybe that is just my preference. Texture wise it was good. I don't think I would go get another one again. I might try another pastry first. I would really like to try the lunch menu. I hear the lunch is good. I am more of a lunch/ dinner person over the breakfast person myself. Will update when I go back for lunch. read more

We've been here twice for breakfast; once last summer and again this weekend while visiting, and both times have been excellent! While it is unassuming from the outside, it is deceptively large, with a nice little courtyard and plenty of indoor seating. The menu is expansive, prices very reasonable, ingredients fresh, and food has been delicious. The one downside is the necessity to find street parking, which can be a bit tricky during busy times, but well worth it! read more

3 stars for the food, which is tasty but not that different from what I cook at home. 4 stars for the bread, especially the nice grainy stuff they serve with the soups. And 5+ stars for the quiet atmosphere, perfect for working!! I've never found a place where I can get breakfast, lunch, or dinner and sit and work with wifi and no background music. I have a suspicion that a lot of my book will be written here. Hooray for New Day. Update: coffee here tastes burned. Not the greatest place for coffee. Vero Espresso is better. But I still like the quiet atmosphere for working, so I'll keep coming back and the coffee is just paying my "rent." read more
