Walking in I was overwhelmed with the number of sweet options that stood before me. On each wall were tall enclosed shelves that had a glass front where you could see rows and rows of deliciousness! I must've walked around the shop five or six times looking like a crazy woman before I finally picked up my tray and tongs--yes a tray and tongs! At Viera's you are able to pick out all the treats that you want--no side eye from the person at the counter as you try to decide what you want, etc. And the prices are right there in front of you--so many delicious deals! I was told to try a cinnamon roll, so that is where I went first. Then my eye caught a lemon Danish and that ended up on the tray as well. Last was the largest donut on earth that was hanging out on a tray that they were about to take away. Once you are done you walk up to the counter and they box you up and you pay. For my three items I just paid $6.75! This is such a great deal as this will be breakfast and dessert easily for 3/4 days! I love that everything here is fresh and not overly sweet. I asked to speak with the owner, and she refused to call him. I had to raise my voice for him to come out so I could inform him about the type of employee he has. I hope he reassigns her to a position behind the scenes, without direct contact with customers.

I went to view the African American experience with the Hanford work site and beyond. In the 40s through the 60s east Pasco became a vibrant town filled with homes and businesses in spite of the racism that redlined housing and business opportunities for people of color. I found the exhibit enlightening and engaging. I loved the small collection of photos, especially the one of the baseball players. I'm looking forward to seeing the map recreation that will pinpoint the locations of houses and businesses during this time and before leveling of them in the name of "urban revitalization". I am 80 years old and the more I know about our history the more I have come to understand that we have never been a kind and generous culture to most people. We can be shortly after a tragedy strikes but then our fears of "other" takes hold of us and we regress: Sadly so. I will return to this lovely, warm and welcoming place.
