I ordered takeout here and it delivered on my Indian food craving. Chicken tikka masala and garlic naan are an unbeatable combination! The masala sauce was rich, creamy, spiced with just the right amount of heat and the chicken was tender. I love using the garlic naan as a scooper. Each bite was better than the last. I also ordered their samosas. They were crispy and packed with flavor. I was really impressed with their tamarind sauce - yummy. I only wished it came in a bigger container. Came here for the first time with my best friend for lunch the staff were so friendly and nice. The food smelled amazing and tasted even better we will definitely be coming back because it taste so good & next time we want to try some of there homemade sweets they have as well. The restaurant may be small but it's so worth it and the restaurant was very clean and colorful. I highly recommend Checking out this hidden gem it's so good. We will definitely be coming back again for lunch again soon because the food is so good and the price you pay for it is so amazing as well. Sweets are pretty average in comparison to AB Indian in south sac, but still very good! Mango laasi had a peculiar taste that wasn't my favorite. Fish pakora was very fresh and high quality. Butter Chicken was great. Garlic Naan was the best I've had at any Indian restaurant!! Lots of garlic and cilantro. Galubjamen was yummy. Restaurant seemed a bit drab, but clean. Some of the sweets were uncovered - food safety protocol likely not followed, but I'm no narc (oh wait this review). Service was very kind - they made everything fresh. I'd be back, but I'd order less sweets, no mango laasi, one less garlic Naan as they are huge, and I would pay cash, as they pass off the charges to the customer (eww since the prices are already borderline high). read more

The butter chicken was excellent . tender, well-seasoned, and coated in a creamy sauce with great flavor. The naan was warm and soft, perfect for enjoying every bit of it. First of all the food was good. I ordered two vegetarian items to go. and the total was over $36 which I think is astronomical for two vegetarian items. The ambiance in the restaurant is not that great. It is literally a dark hole in the wall attached to a gas station, which doesn't bother me that much. Update: The restaurant commented on my post thinking I posted on the wrong establishments yelp page. I do have my receipt. My husband and I decided to give this place a try on Sunday Sept 29th. We both got terribly sick from eating here. We were up all night, vomiting, chills, and felt incredibly weak. I WOULD NOT tell anyone to try this place after our experience. Went in there at 9 PM at night. The area was a little ghetto, kind of scary even.. but once I entered the restaurant, the best curry smell filled my nostrils. The aesthetic of the place felt very authentic, which I really like the dishes were fairly cheap two dollars higher than what yelp said. The woman was so kind and gave very mother like vibes! She gave us amazing caring service! And the food, of course was delicious. Me and my partner enjoyed every bite. It melted in our mouth, steaming hot. We absolutely gorged it. And of course we packed some dessert home. They were $2.50 each. I really enjoyed my first time here. I'll be back to enjoy more of their wonderful dishes! read more

Ordered takeout via DoorDash(hence forgetting to take photos), and while they were good I do think it was a tad high for the amount of food you get. We got the shrimp coconut curry, lamb saag & chicken tikka masala - all delicious tasting & the shrimp was the first Indian seafood curry we've had. Overall, I may go here again, but if either portions were larger or they offered an Indian buffet. read more

I am extremely mad. I ordered DoorDash I paid full price $40 for this. The portion size is usually double. They are usually in a larder container that equals one of what I paid for the price of two. my family and I always take out the chicken curry and chicken vindaloo. That's usually all we get. Everyone loves it. The only other thing I've tried is the Aloo Gobi. It's vegetarian that is made primarily out of cauliflower. It's very good and has a lot of flavor. Whenever we order, it's usually ready in 25 minutes. They have a dinner special as well. I think it's a bit cheaper if you pick up and pay with cash. It's definitely worth trying out. read more

I was craving Indian food and found this place after doing a quick search, so I looked at their menu and called in a pickup order. They are hidden in the corner of a strip mall next to a convenience store. The place was dead at lunchtime, and I think I know why. The Aloo Gobhi with rice was 12.99 on their website, but when I got there, she tried charging me 17 something saying their prices have changed. Looking at the two small containers in the bag, I said "no thank you" and left. I like supporting small businesses, but she was confrontational and rude, so I will not return. read more

Was looking forward to some good spicy Indian food to heat up this gloomy rain weather. Picked up my order only to get home and find out there was no rice to go with my lamb curry. I call the restaurant twice with no answer. Third time is the charm. A lady answers and I advise her politely that I'm missing a rice order. She rudely cuts me off saying there was already an order of rice. I try to explain that we ordered a separate rice to go with the chicken curry however the site said that the lamb curry came with rice. The lady insists that she updated her site 3 weeks ago and starts rambling about COVID 19, Doordash, Grubhub etc. I politely again interject and ask her how I as a customer ordering through Yelp which directs me to Grubhub would have known that she updated her site and I needed to order rice to go with the curry. It is not my responsibility as a customer to contact food delivery services to ensure their menu matches your site, lady. I have attached a screenshot that clear states free rice since you were so argumentative with me. All in all she was pretty rude and I had to hang up as I was not trying to lose it with her over rice. This place has been there a long time, I don't know if it's the same owners or new. I also see some negative feedback from customers about their portions. Everything has gone up since Covid-19. Most restaurants seem to be 20-30% higher. This place is more like a catering place, it seems like and maybe they try to accommodate smaller orders. I don't know if it's a fair review since all I ordered was "Sweets". Their Jalebi is to die for. I ordered 10 lbs of Jalebi in addition other Sweets, before my large event was over, few families asked where I got the Jalebis from. For those who are wondering what Jalebis are: it's a desert type of snack eaten during celebrations and it's crisp and sweet, fried, sticky and tastes like nothing else you've tried before. Been ordering from Great Indian for two years now via Doordash and tonight I wanted a cozy bowl of Butter Chicken and garlic naan to mop it up with. This place never fails - every order has been consistently flavorful perfectly cooked. The orders always come out in the estimated time and are clearly freshly made. I don't claim to be an expert on naan but this stuff is so good! I've tried other garlic naans in Sacramento and this one slays them. Dip them into the butter chicken sauce leftovers and you will see God. Tonight I tried the vegetable samosas for the first time and YUM. Full disclosure, my husband said they were too "strong tasting" but I disagree and as I am writing this review and not he, no stars deducted :-) To me, if an appetizer is well seasoned enough to not REQUIRE the accompanying sauces, then that is a good dish right there (there's definitely coriander, I suspect cumin and fennel as well). Of course the spicy mint sauce does take it to the next level, so don't ignore it! Will be ordering again and again! read more

Although we did enjoy this you must be really careful with gluten intolerant people. Usually pakoras are made with chick pea flour, but that's not the case with Great Indian cuisine. To be fair the menu does not state garam (chickpea) but it is normal to use it. Wifey had a reaction to their pakoras because of the use of the wheat flour. Anyway rest of food was ok but this spoilt the meal for my wife who is paying for it last night and today!! Also I concur with previous reviewers they do tend to run the spice level higher than comparable places. If you want medium choose mild!!!! read more
