Located in Southfield, the inside is deceptively nicer than the outside. We were there for a friends family event, and it was catered casually. We had coney dogs, pizza and fries, salads, cookies, and drinks. The staff were friendly and the inside is modern. The bathrooms were clean, and the room we were in was nice and open. Lots of seating. Parking is very convenient and there were plenty available. Would recommend for other events. read more

I had a little trouble explaining what this place was when asked, so I went to the website to see how they explained it themselves.... Venue Features Thousands of square feet of usable space, with indoor and outdoor seating options. - Fully equipped kitchen with specialized cooking features. - Seats up to 150 people. - Holds up to 200 seated and strolling guests. = Tables, linens, stemware, china and buffet service equipment available for rental Menus available soon!" Well, that sort of paints a picture of what to expect, but not EXACTLY. This spot sells high-end commercial kitchen equipment. Customers can come to this site to test the equipment in the kitchen, the dish room and/or the bar. That's cool. Actually, it's really cool. What they don't explain (exactly) is this is also event space. So if said commercial customers want to bring in a big staff of people to check it/test it out, they could. That's cool too. And again, what isn't exactly clear, is that if you just want a cool place for an event, they are available for rentals! Top notch chefs, using top notch equipment for your next event. SO. VERY. COOL. And it just keeps getting cooler. They recently added a completely organic food-to-table garden along side the building. I am loving this place! The women who run the gardens (Carol Shapiro Havis of TheraGardens) also do special programs and events on healthy eating, organic gardening and more. I brought a group of 25 people to check out the facility, hear the background of the company and the building and how they are constantly expanding their focus and had a tour of the gardens. They even set up a little planting station for everyone to plant and take home a little sunflower or snap pea. And the price was REASONABLE. I highly recommend checking it out if you are looking for a cool venue. Or if you're looking for high end commercial restaurant equipment. Came here for Savor Detroit and I was really impressed with the space. Huge open area with a fabulous open air kitchen. It's great for a food focused event like Savor (so you can watch all the kitchen action) but I can also see how it would be fantastic for cooking classes as well (they have several cameras and TV screens mounted to the ceiling so you can get a birds eye view of the kitchen). It's very clean, airy and modern with lovely yard for getting some fresh air as well. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on their events to hopefully attend more. read more

Every time I come here I have a great time! Great food! And great beverages! I was invited by a friend of mine for a 5 course meal with wine pairings and everytime I go have a great time! is also usually a live band playing, so if any of you needs a good gig to play this place has a great space for that! read more

My best friend's wedding reception was here and it was out of this world. The space is elegant and warm, and with the open kitchen in the background, you're assured of good things to come. The food....was the best wedding food I've ever had. (I'm not just saying that because he'll see this review either!) Service was fast and fluid, and overall this was just a great spot for an event. This place is beautiful. I took a Dr. Sushi class with a friend and loved the experience. There were TV screens so we could easily see what he was doing and follow along. Lots of space for all of us to sit and not feel crowded together. The place itself has lots of options for events and other things which is very cool. read more

I came here for a Savor Detroit dinner event and I was very impressed with the staff and the decor they had put together. All of the staff seemed to really know what they were doing and were very professional. It seems like it would be a nice place to have a wedding or party. I got married here Aug 2016 and it was just wonderful. The building is gorgeous and Erika is wonderful to work with. Our tasting with Chef Reva was absolutely the best food I have ever eaten in my life! To this day the food is one of the most often complimented parts of my wedding, closely followed by compliments about how gorgeous the event space was. We had such a great experience... it was over what I originally wanted to spend on my wedding but I am SO glad my family was able to make it happen for me because it was truly a night I will never forget. read more

If you're trying to get married during the pandemic, this is the place to go! Last month we had an outdoor wedding for 50 (complete with social distancing, masks and precautions). I can't say enough about Erika Miller, Chef Miller and their team! We had 3 weeks to pull off the wedding - and it was perfect. Erika was responsive and great to work with. We brought our 25-person team from work for our holiday gathering and had a fantastic time. We split into three groups for a cooking lesson with three different chefs. Everyone got to participate but there was also plenty of time to socialize, then we enjoyed the delicious meal that we all helped cook. The whole thing was great, so easy to plan (GLCC took care of everything), the space is lovely, and it was the talk of the office for the rest of the week. This has to be the best wedding venue in Metro Detroit if not the state. My wife and I stumbled upon this venue while perusing the knot. We had never heard of Great Lakes Culinary Center before but the name and site images peaked our interest. We were instantly hooked when we first met with Emma to check out the venue. The interior is beautiful and different than the typical cookie cutter wedding venue you are used to seeing. The kitchen and bar are right on the main floor which I thought was pretty cool. They have an organic garden outside and it is absolutely stunning. You will not believe what it looks like at night. We had an outdoor ceremony and it honestly felt like something out of a fairy tail. You can even have your wedding party use the organic garden as an isle to walk down. Everything about the aesthetics of this venue is awesome but the service they offer is what really takes the cake. The food.....This was hands down the best food I have ever had at a wedding. I might sound biased but all of our guests could not stop raving about the dinner and desserts. They have a massive menu of things to choose from but if you want to be creative the chef will work with you and add her own creative twist! The staff was excellent. They really help you plan the wedding of your dreams and boy did they deliver. Our guests are still talking about this venue more than a week later. They keep telling us "you found the spot". Not to mention, the cost was super affordable! If you want the most original wedding, with the best food, the best drinks, the best staff, and at the best price...the Great Lakes Culinary Center is for you.
