We came in on a Monday afternoon on our way to errands. We found out Mondays don't offer food options but we sat at the bar to have a couple drinks. I tried the Dreamsicle which was DELICIOUS!!! My boyfriend tried the Gin & Roses which was very good as well and refreshing. We shared the Lavender Bees Knees Slushy! That was the best! Such incredible flavor!!! Kevin was our bartender and also our tour guide for the distillery tour. He was funny and very informative. The history of Milwaukee and growth of the business was really interesting. We enjoyed seeing the distillery and learning and the process. I saw a couple of barrels I am excited to try in the future!! Grape Brandy and Cherry Brandy! At the end of the tour we had a tasting. My favorites were Honey Lemon Vodka, Gin, Cranberry Liqueur, and the Coffee Liqueur. I do not enjoy Bourbons and Rye Whiskey but I will say that the Bond Bourbon was smooth. This was a fun experience and I highly recommend giving this place a visit! I know we will come back again! For Christmas Gifts, or to try more of the fantastic drinks! Good but expensive. I am in beer city USA and found this distillery to be quite expensive. They let you sample all of their products for $1 each, or if you buy a bottle the samples are free (as of May 2026). We tried the whiskies, ryes, and bourbons. All were good, but not worth $70 a bottle for what we wanted. They do have sales and some better priced products. However, I was shocked that the bourbon I liked ended up being $70 a bottle. I've had lots of bourbon in my day and I don't think it's worth $70 a bottle. Another one I liked was $50 a bottle which I also think is quite high for the flavor profile and burn. If you want to have fun and sample a bunch, then give it a shot. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here unless it's in my route. It was good just not great for the price. They also sell pre mixed drinks that were super sugary and not very flavorful. read more

Great Lakes Distillery is a lovely little local distillery that serves up delicious drinks in their attached bar. Whether I get it here or a local retailer, I love Great Lakes rye. I tend toward bourbon and scotch and don't tend to love rye, but their rye is very reminiscent of scotch to me. I love it. I love going to their bar for one of their Old Rations cocktails (whiskey cocktail) and to play a game or two of cribbage. The vibes are always on point, the service kind, and the drinks delish. We came here for our monthly beer pass and were able to order cocktails instead of beer. (bonus!!) You can order food, and that was at another winter, and if you wanted a drink, you had to order at the bar. The bartenders are very friendly and funny. Plenty of space to eat/drink and hang out. I got to enjoy their slushie, which was very delicious. The chocolate covered cherry hot cocoa was also good, it will keep you warm at night, or even during the day The bourbon old fashioned were just as delicious. We stopped into Great Lakes Distillery in Walker's Point during Wisconsin's first snowfall of the season and it could not have been a better experience. The atmosphere was warm and cozy and the staff made us feel right at home the second we walked in. Our server was incredible. It genuinely felt like he was enjoying the drinks right along with us. He had great suggestions and really added to the fun. We were using a Pub Pass and loved that they let us choose almost any drink. It was a perfect way to sample their lineup. The cocktails were fantastic, balanced, and really showcased their spirits. We ended up staying longer than planned because everything was so good and the vibe was just right. If you go, plan to do a tasting and take your time. This is not a quick in and out spot. It is the kind of place where you want to relax, sip something new, and enjoy great company. We stopped here after a Brewer's game for a libation (cause it's cheaper than the ballpark.). They had two slush flavors so I opted for the fruity one. It was super refreshing after being in the sun for the game. We loved the perfectly fried cheese curds, but they don't have regular ketchup so that was disappointing. I'm a ketchup fanatic. So sue me. We also shared the Bang Burger. I liked the crisp onions and pickles on top, but there was soooo much sauce that it was slipping out everywhere making it super hard to eat and hard to taste anything but the sauce. I would opt for the sauce on the side so you could add how much you'd prefer. Overall, we enjoyed the drinks, it was super easy to park there and the curds were delish. We had an incredibly personable experience with our tour guide, Kevin! He walked us through the entire distillery, explained the process in detail, shared the fascinating history, and engaged with all our questions. We ordered their old fashioned craft cocktail before the tour and were able to carry it throughout. Seeing the years sold copper still up close was amazing! We had a blast with another couple on the tour and during the taste testing which was such a great send-off before leaving town. Loved their whiskey and unique flavors! I had been meaning to visit here for a long time and I finally did it! Loved the vibe of the distillery - lots of big tables to hang out with large groups and I absolutely love the windows in the bar that look into the actual distillery. I will definitely be back to take a tour. The bar has games in it too if you are looking for something to do while you have a drink and they have several TVs that have various sporting events on. The bar can get loud but there are spots in it that are quieter than others. They have a cool outdoor sitting area with firepits too so I cant wait to try those in the summer (patio is dog friendly too!). The drinks featured all of Great Lakes' own spirits and many of the options had a unique flair which made it fun/unique. Bar tenders were very friendly too. They also have a window that serves smashburger which is excellent. Free parking in the back too! read more

My boyfriend and I went here for a tour when we visited Milwaukee for a mini vaca. We are pretty young, 21 and 22, and honestly we had no idea what to expect. Kevin was our tour guide, and he was so fun, funny, knowledgeable, and entertaining while we did our tour. He was thorough, informed, and answered all of our questions perfectly. After the tour we tasted spirits, all of which were awesome, and then we hung around, had some drinks, ate at the Fox Den, and had a great time!! I like this place a lot! I stopped in here July 6th, 2024 with some friends and we all thouroughly enjoyed our visit. Great Lakes Distillery is located in the hip up-and-coming neighborhood: Walkers Point. It is a hundred year old warehouse that has been beautifully restored. It is a functioning distillery that offers tours and has a tasting room. They are also available for private events. If you are ever in the area I highly recommend stopping in! read more

WOW! How did I not find this place sooner. Easy parking behind the distillery as well as the surrounding area. The distillery has tours but we just came in for a few drinks and some food. By far the best food at a distillery/brewery that I've ever had. Lots of seating to enjoy your food and custom drinks. You can even buy different spirit bottles to go. One of my new favorite distilleries, food stops, and places to just hang out. Stopped in not too long after open and it was just us at the bar. We got to chat with the fantastic bartender and she gave us some samples to help decide which bottles we were going to buy as a gift and for ourselves. I'm just sad that I didn't have room to try the food because they have a lot of great looking vegetarian offerings. The bar is really neat and the space is pretty big. From talking with the staff it seems like it gets really busy in the evenings and during the school year. Everything we tried was fantastic and I highly recommend their "Dirty Helen" barrel strength bourbon. It's unbelievably smooth and I just drink it on the rocks! Their liquors are also great and it's hard finding any place that makes a walnut liquor. Let alone one that tastes great. This is worth another trip to Milwaukee in itself. read more

Great Lakes Distillery is a super cool spot to check out for a variety of specialty cocktails and high end spirits for purchase. They have an outdoor patio (with live music on Sunday nights), board games, and a big indoor seating area with TV access. The staff is so friendly and very willing to share their great wealth of knowledge on alcohol and spirits. They also offer distillery tours which is next on my bucket list. I enjoyed the variety of affordable cocktail offerings such as the colonel mustard - which was not too sweet but balanced out very with the tangy pineapple juice (my favorite!). We also got to sample their alcohol slushies which, this time, was a Vodka blueberry lemonade- very unique with a subtle but sweet flavor. Not pictured below, but we also tried their Bang burger and fries- the fries were thin and had a tasty seasoning with a slight kick, the burger was juicy and had great flavor overall- especially with the bang sauce on top! On a lazy Sunday afternoon, this was the right place to relax after a great lunch downtown. Definitely better than coffee lol The bartender was amazing and super helpful. We got to try a bunch of their spirits, which was super helpful in getting our case of bottles. If you get a case of 6 bottles, they give you a 10% discount. The cocktail menu is fun and quite reasonably priced. We grabbed the bourbon old fashioned (on tap, meaning they have this pre made and just pour out), and the Milwaukee mule and sat outside, and got to enjoy the nice cushioned seats and live music. Dak DuBois was playing, and he was great. Mostly guitar while we were there, but then he sang and I loved his voice. Loved the table we had, which was fitted for a table fire, but as we were only there till about 4pm, it didn't come on. I went to GLD for the first time to support Stillettos and Oak, a drag show and had a great time. The venue is on the corner with some parking. When you walk in there is a bar and seating for the distillery. To the left is a window to order from Henfox, which has a great menu and vegetarian options. The show was on the distillery floor which on a lower level and accessible by a double set of stairs. You will pass a bathroom and coatrack. The floor is a mix of high top seating, two booths that can be reserved and a bar. On this night they offered speciality drinks for each of the five artists. Each artist performed two numbers with an intermission.Super fun and a great crowd. Bring singles or get them from the staff. A tip kitten also walks around to collect money if you appreciate the performances. The host also hosts bingo. I had a great time and look forward to future events. read more

This is a cute little spot to throw a party for a few of your besties on a chilly winter night! Yelp Elite was invited to taste the beverages, food, music, and fun last night at the Great Lakes Distillery. I sampled an "Old Fashioned". It was Ah-mazing! I have to admit, I'll be asking for this drink everywhere I go and expecting it to be up to the standards of GLD from now on! Yummy and thank you very much! The evening was delightful! Lots of ambiance. There was live music from Brett Gaertner -- a singer/guitarist who took requests and had a very large repertoire! Kudos! Lots of people underestimate the amount of talent it takes to sing and play in a crowded room where people are drinking, eating, and conversing. He managed to balance his music so it wasn't overwhelming the night. He remained entertaining and complemented the evening without hijacking it! WELL DONE! The Hors d'oeuvres were delicious too. Classy without being heavy, greasy, and obnoxious. There were jerk wings that weren't so hot you were choking on them. There was a warm crab dip, charcuterie, and bruschetta. Everything was small plated and people were considerate of each other enough to taste not eat a meal! That was very nice. My compliments to the caterer. The presentation was nice and the selection diverse and appropriate for the event. Great Lakes Distillery (GLD) offered samples of some of their products. There was a line so I assume it was great. I didn't partake. I had to drive back to Grafton. However, I thought that was a very generous take home! Everyone was having a very nice time. The GLD staff was very welcoming and friendly. I felt like I entered a scene in the TV show, Friends. I wanted to burst into out and start singing, "Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name ... and they're always glad you came ..." But, singing was Brett's gig for the night and since I wouldn't have been able to blame my outburst on overindulgence, I left smiling as I tilted my cap and quietly drove my service dog home thinking ... Stopped by for the second time on a weekend visit to Milwaukee. Have to say this is such a cool place. They have food available (pub food) and it looked delicious. We just came for a drink and to relax. They have a great selection of spirits and beer, also some card and board games. Tours also available. Very cool and cooperative staff. We've been here a few times for the distillery tour and drinks. Everytime we're equally impressed! Good space upstairs and down. The tour is informative and fun, and the tasting at the end is always entertaining. I am generally not a gin fan, but Great Lakes has a bourbon barrel aged gin that I would drink again and again! This past visit we brought friends from out of town for the tour, followed by a standup comedy show in the distillery. You really can't beat laughs surrounded by bourbon barrels and great cocktails. Hopefully, they keep the comedy going here because we would definitely be back for another show! Pro Tip: Don't skip the tap old fashioned. It's delicious. Stopped by FoxDen at Great Lakes Distillery with a friend to catch up over smashburgers and wow were these good! Two quarter bound patties smashed together with yummy ingredients to make some very unique and tasty burgers. I went with the chimi-hendrix experience while my friend got the bollywood, and we shared some fries. We were stuffed to say the least and had leftovers to take how and enjoy the next day. Absolutely love this small business in Milwaukee. Signed up for a last minute tour on a Sunday and didn't regret it. Our tour guide taught us a lot about the distilling process and was hilarious while doing it. The tour came with 6 tastings, which were all incredible. Plus, all their drinks at the bar were creative and tasty. They had a frozen whiskey drink that was delectable in the summer heat. In my opinion, the whiskey and rye were the best!! Highly recommend. We LOVE Great Lakes Distillery. We have been taking Milwaukee excursions from Chicago for many years now because we love it for an accessible and walkable adventure! One of our favorite ways to end the day is at Great Lakes Distillery for INCREDIBLE drinks! The Rehorst Gin is one of my all-time favorite drinks. As a result, the house G&T with the homemade tonic water is a MUST! I also save room to be able to have the Bourbon Old Fashioned. It is divine! My husband is not a big cocktail fan, so he greatly appreciates the beer selection from Mobcraft Brewery. His beer of choice is the Mobcraft IPA. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The distillery is also very inviting, clean, and spacious. And prices are excellent! There is everything to love! While we have always loved Great Lakes Distillery, it has been a particularly clutch spot during the COVID-19 pandemic. Staff are always following safety protocol, the space is clean, AND the outdoor seating is always accessible. We've been able to sit outside at the Distillery, even during the winter, thanks to the accessible space AND fire places. We've even grabbed some food to go and settled in outside for several drinks outside at Great Lakes to enjoy. We are so thankful to Great Lakes Distillery for making this space accessible. So many places have kept their outdoor space closed, and that was a dealbreaker for us as we seek to remain safe and distanced. So THANK YOU Great Lakes Distillery!
