Stumbled upon this distillery when my bestie was in town. She drove past it a couple of times and mentioned we should give it a shot. I'm glad we did. When you first enter it's not what you expect a distillery to look or feel like. It's filled with greenery throughout and the display of their liquor on the shelf and barrels gave it a nice and unique touch. Parking was a little iffy to find since it's in an industrial area, but the interior and service make it worth it. The bartender was really friendly and informed us that they make all their drinks and liquor in house! I love the way he crafted our drinks too, the garnishes were perfect! The day we went they had Star Wars specials for May 4th--I thought that was a fun add-on. We had a Daiquiri, Dirty Martini and two Aggressively Friendly cocktails! They were a mixture of rum and vodka. You could definitely taste the alcohol in the drinks, but the flavor of the mixed items within the cocktails blended well. I'd love to come back and try their other liquor options. If they offer tours, I'd love to explore more of their background and what they have to offer. One of our favorite cocktail places in Milwaukee. They only use their own liquors so they can be limited on certain drinks but they always have creative and tasty specialty menus. We stumbled upon Twisted Path Distillery while trying to find a different drinking establishment. In the end, Twisted Path Distillery ended up being our favorite find! Staff were friendly and took their jobs seriously. The venue was open and inviting, especially since it was warm. We loved all of the plants on the wall of the bar! While it was a smaller menu, everything sounded delicious! We ended up getting to drinks to try: The Cilantro Gimlet and the Aggressively Friendly. My husband loved the herbasciously delicious Cilantro Gimlet. Great flavors with a definitively cilantro flavor. I enjoyed the Aggressively Friendly cocktail, particularly with the gin and lavender notes. Prices were fairly reasonable and the space was clean and inviting. This distillery is quickly becoming one of my favorite places for a cocktail! Every distillery has their own vodka and whiskey these days, but they go next level with their Bloody Mary Vodka (infused with spices so all you have to add is juice and it is shelf stable), and their Chai Liqueur. These are my two favorite items to buy and keep at home now, especially during the holiday season, the Chai is a fantastic product. However the bar itself is great. They take into account various flavor profiles, creating distillates and using aromatics to enhance their cocktails. I always look forward to seeing what they have on their menu. The space itself is beautiful, with vines and their products on the wall, making it a great date spot in the evening with the dimmer lights, or a great spot to get together with friends in the summer with the garage door open. Let's not forget they also have amazing Mocktails! The Rhubarbra Streisand is always a hit in our group, and its nice to have options for everyone in the group. I came here with my boyfriend to meet up with one of his friends for a couple drinks after the Admirals game. I was pleasantly surprised by interior design. I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting when I walked in, but this place far exceeded my expectations. It is very classy. They have a nice selection of drinks to choose from. I had the Chai Nog and their Daiquiri. Both of them were excellent! I prefer the Chai Nog over the Daiquiri because that is a little bit closer to my tastes but the Daiquiri was still very good. After looking for distilleries in the area, Twisted Path was our first choice once we saw they had Chai liquor.  I was dying to get some to put in my homemade eggnog at Christmas time.  There is no indoor seating at the moment, but you can walk up to the 2 garage doors of the building, where they have a table set up, and a bar.  You can try a sample at one door, and then head to the other door to make a purchase at the bar. The people working there were friendly and very cool, but I wasn't impressed with the handful of F-bombs the server (owner?) dropped during our conversation while sampling.  It's not very professional, and for a place with fantastic product, it drops the class level a bit. But, I do understand he was trying to be friendly, so I won't be too much of a "Karen" about it! ;) Twisted Path has some fantastic spirits and we ended up ordering 3 bottles and a cocktail to go. We got 2 bottles of Twisted Path Chai, because well, why not?  And my husband ordered their bottled-in-bond rye whiskey.  It was super smooth and my husband LOVED it.  The bottled in bond rye is $65, so bring your credit card!   I can't remember the name of the cocktail we ordered to go, but my husband loved it.  It came sealed in a very nice, thick glass bottle with a wooden stopper.  I should have kept it and repurposed it!  I highly recommend giving this place a visit, if you like craft spirits.  Everything is fantastic. read more

Twisted Path is such an interesting place to try. They serve very unique cocktails made with their own distilled liquor. The flavor combinations they offer are always fun to try and their drink menu changes often, so there's always something new. When I was there last I had a delicious drink with vodka and pink peppercorns. The atmosphere is laid back and the staff is friendly. Their location is in a bit of an industrial area, but that isn't so bad. Their building has a garage door that can be opened in the summertime when the weather is nice. Correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge, Milwaukee doesn't have all too many 'distilleries.' We have a lot of breweries, but for us non-beer drinkers (or those of us that prefer other libations) it's great to have options. I've been to Twisted Path Distillery a few times. They used to be known as Dock 18 with a small speak-easy but have recently expanded that space and now lead with their Distillery name. I have done the tour and it is unlike the normal tour in that the owner gives it and knows his stuff. He's not a "business" guy, in the sense that he started the company to pump out a profit first and master the taste second. He's a distillery nerd (meant in the best way) and really has a passion for flavor. I learned more about distilling alcohol than I have from any other tour I've ever been on; which, in my opinion, is what a tour should be about. I'm not normally a Gin fan, but dang it. They make a fine tasting Gin! No pin-tree flavor here! Can't go wrong with their Rum or Vodka either. Definitely add this as a bookmark to check out! read more

Why have I not been here before? It is at the far edge of the Bay View bubble so I should have been here months ago. However, I am glad that I found this awesome place. Let's start with handcrafted cocktails with their own spirits. They are experienced with using bitters and creating very unique cocktails. As a bonus the drinks are NOT expensive. A handcrafted cocktail will run you a whopping $5 which is a great deal considering the quality of the ingredients. The place is so quaint and cozy. Started the night here for a birthday party. The vibe was cool and chill. Loved the dark wood tones and soft lighting. Enough to feel relaxed, but I could still see my way to the bar. Our table ordered a variety of drinks. I got the aggressively friendly, which I highly recommend if you like tart, citrusy drinks. It packs an alcohol punch too. We were hoping to order a variety of kettle chips and some cheese curds, but they only had bbq chips left. No big deal, but they ended up giving us 2 bags of chips for free for our disappointment, which I thought was extremely kind customer service. You could drive right by and never guess there's a Distillery in this warehouse. And that's part of the aura. There's not only a great Distillery, but an awesome apothecary too! And it was the 5th anniversary of Bittercube Bitters that led to this awesome booze craftery to host their first ever open tasting. But first you had to receive an email indicating where to park, how many loading docks to walk past and which semi-lit doors to enter. This is truly a warehouse and until you enter the door marked (with an underground-feel paper sign) you aren't quite certain you are in the right place. Only 24 guests over the course of two days had the pure pleasure of imbibing in this tiny (only 10 seats plus two auxiliary chairs) tasting room. The journey began with the aptly titled "Origin Story". It featured the TPD Classic White Rum and Bittercube Jamaican #1 Bitters and was a rift on the quintessential mule type cocktails. The rum had a very clean and crisp taste, indicative of it's organic origins. Up next was the Kill-Devil #2, which was another classic re-invented. Twisted's Barrel Aged Rum was blended with Turbinado Sugar and Bittercube's Jamaican #2 Bitters. Prior to consuming the cocktail we were each given a shot of the aged rum solo. And it was fantastic to say the least. The rum was smooth and crisp and the harsh aftertaste of most rums was not at all present. We moved on to a Winter Sour which was crafted with Twisted's Classic Vodka and Bittercube's Trinity Bitters. It also featured a Winter Spiced Syrup which was made with a myriad of fragrant spices (so glad they shared the recipe for this). Like the rum, this vodka was clean and crisp and was the perfect background canvas for a cocktail with the pleasing depth of flavor. The final cocktail of the night was amazing. In fact, all were drinks I'd happily order in the future. But the finale, A Ginger Infused Mule, was nothing short of excellence. Fresh ginger root was infused into Twisted's 100 Proof Vodka. The Distiller, Brian, explained the purpose of a bit higher proof was to put more alcohol into a drink, without necessarily making it taste like there was additional spirits in the glass. It also lends well to infusions that previously had to be made with Everclear, or pure Moonshine. The ginger infused vodka was the perfect base and Bittercube's Jamaican #1 and Blackstrap Bitters made a splendid accent. I've been a huge fan of Bittercube Bitters since their inception, and their facilitation of an introduction to Twisted Path is another feather in their cap no doubt. You may not know there's a Distillery in this warehouse, and you may not have heard of Twisted Path, yet. But this small operation is destined for great things, and I hope big things as well. So given the opportunity, be sure to get in on the ground floor exposure of this awesome tasting elixirs, you'll be very glad you did! #drinklocal read more

Went to the Twisted Path Distillery with a friend to see a band she knew. It's a beautiful, spacious taproom with a brewery taproom next door so you can get beer there or cocktails here and take your drink next door. In other words if one person likes cocktails and one person likes beer, this is the place for you. They have a full menu of eclectic cocktails to choose from or you can order something more traditional, too. Everything I had there was very good. I came here on a Friday night, where they had live music (with no cover), Fox fire food truck, and free samples of their chai bottle served in shots! I did not try the food outside, but I did have a couple drinks; they are $9 on average. I ordered the DJ beets first, and was warned by another patron that it had a different after taste. Upon tasting, it was very unique and had an apple cider vinegar taste to it, and you could definitely taste the beet flavor, along with ginger. It felt like I was drinking a much healthier alcoholic beverage, imagine a smoothie fermented into a drink. My next drink of choice was of the banana strawberry variety, which came in a smaller glass, but I can tell you the cocktails are hand-shaken and come with a garnish (I.E. basil or an orange peel) to give a distinct taste. Lastly, I chose the new chai drink, which they have two options: a citrus variety and a coconut milk option. At first, I was served the citrus, which I recalled in our sampling that I did not have a liking for, so I opted for the coconut flavored cocktail instead. This location is on the smaller side, and especially with live music it can feel pretty packed. I was able to secure seating on the very end of the bar, with one chair left and my friend nabbed a seat from the chairs posted up along the wall. There is another side of the place where they serve beer, and that section is even smaller. They have two restrooms, which are unisex. Although this wouldn't be a regular spot for me, it can be a nice little spot for something smaller scale. They also have a comedy show going on next month, check it out! read more

Bottom line: I really wanted to love this place, but it was just OK. I'm really bummed Dock 18 closed. That place was so unique from the decor to the cocktail flights. While Twisted Path's decore is nice and I like that it's connected to Enlightened Brewery I was very underwhelmed by the drinks. Our group got 4 different ones, 1 was good the other 2 were fine and 1 was kimda gross. None of them came with any garnishes or fun twists. Found Twisted Path on a Milwaukee Foods Tour and what a find! There is no street signage so unless you knew it was here, you'd be out of luck. This speakeasy style distillery does everything onsite. A relatively small tasting room, but it has a lager space in back available for tours where the spirits are actually made. The bartender made me an old fashion utilizing rum. Just tremendous! I tasted the rums, gin and the vodka--all were unique and quite good. Brian, the man behind the curtain obviously loves what he does and has a great story to tell about creating the business.
