Great Lakes Honda in Elyria Ohio. Service Dept review - similar to other reviews, brought in for service and they replaced parts according to the computer diagnostics. after paying $1200 I picked up my vehicle and the dashboard lights lit up on my way home...turned around immediately and they diagnosed it with engine failure!?!? Apparently their service work and their subsequent 'test' drive didn't find this. Vehicle had no coolant in it, somehow their multipoint inspection missed it too. After telling me that this is normal for this car, they had the nerve to accuse me of doing it on purpose!? When asked to speak with the service manager I was denied.... Hondas are known for engines and 7 yrs and 130,000 miles is all I should expect? Long time Honda family, but not at Great Lakes Honda. Shame read more

We purchased a certified used honda crv and we were told all these great things about it. We do love the car but there were issues with both cars we were presented with. The first one had extensive smoke smell. It smelled like a factory's break room where the workers smoked heavily. So we went with another. it had a scratch we were told they'd get out. Which didn't happen. We were given this we tried we can't do it. Then the cleaning department had some kids working and they put tons of cleaning product on most of the surfaces of the car. Most of which was still there. By that point we were tired and just wanted out of there. As far as safety, I wouldn't rate it highly. The backup camera is small and has poor resolution. And sometimes the emergency break assist comes on for no reason. Once it stopped us on a road going 50 mph. Randomly. Lane departure comes on randomly when you haven't departed the lane. All of the safety features we were promised on the car don't work well or malfunction. read more

I know that all car dealers lie to their customers, it just felt worse because we are loyal customers of this dealership. We bought a new vehicle as we always do. I have been here twice with my own vehicle to trade and walked away both times. they low ball you with an offer then when they offer you more for your trade it is still 1,500 to 2,000 Less than Kelley blue book. they also won't budge on the prices of their used cars which are higher than other dealerships. This place won't even acknowledge an extended warranty that was put on by Honda themselves!! Their answer to everything is trade it in. I have had several issues personally. I bought my car in 2020 with an extended warranty- bumper to bumper- only things NOT covered were oil changes, brakes and tires. My blower motor started making horrendous noises winter of 2023, brought it in. They said they wouldn't fix until it blew completely. My check engine light came on first week of July 2024, I dropped my car off July 3rd and Brevin was my advisor. They had my car until September, which they said everything was fixed (cat converter, exhaust flex pipe, alternator, battery, turbo, etc) I picked up the car and within three days it was back in at the dealership. They kept it for another month. Said it was fixed and yet again, it was not. I dropped my car BACK off AGAIN the day before Thanksgiving. They gave me a loaner car, it was dirty, sticky, stained and lumpy seats. It was disgusting. I Heard NOTHING until I reached out to another employee December, January and Feb. Matt was the advisor this time around and my FIL (who is a mechanic of 35 years) finally got involved calling the service manager. I just got my car back 2/27/25 and the exhaust flex is STILL not fixed. All they did was clear codes. I will NEVER buy a car, take a car for service or recommend this shit hole to anyone. read more

My son bought a car from here. We are from out of state and this place has turned out to be a real hassle after the fact. We found out they took sales tax money from him for the state of Ohio (6.5% vs 6% in our state), we need to pay taxes in our state not Ohio to get a title. We checked, they are not allowed to do this(I mean it's not legal at all). Then they didn't want to refund the taxes so my son can get his car registered and his temp tag is dead due to all the dealerships squirming. Typical dealer bull squat. After threatening a lawsuit he now has his sales tax money back and the chase begins to get the title. They are sending him on a chase for that too. Tried giving him a printed sales receipt of some sort instead of the title and said that would work. Nope, that isn't kosher either. If this is a good Ohio dealership I feel sorry for you folks. I will say the price on car was fair and we were treated very well when there. But they are always nice till they get your money. Other than those things this was a zero star experience. The whole ordeal has been a nightmare. Instead of getting us a title in our state, they got a title in my sons name in Ohio and sent it directly to the lender. Stupid stupid stupid people at this place. He bought the car in may, it is now early august and we still can't get the car registered in here. So my son has to drive a car with an expired plate. If you are considering them run fast in the other direction. I'll say it again, If this is a good Ohio dealer I feel for you folks. Very incompetent people at this place. I have never seen issues like this ANYWHERE else, and I have a bunch of purchased vehicles behind me. Update 8/7/2020. More scary stuff to report. We went here not realizing it had changed hands, we just thought it was still Elyria Honda. They had just bought it like 2 weeks before. Everyone was nice and they were still in the change over which we understood. We'd taken our other Honda here for service and we were happy so when we wanted another, we looked here. We found a barely used Odyssey right at the start of Covid in Feb 2020. Price was good and the car was in great shape... EXCEPT, the interior. It needed to be cleaned badly. So we left the van to get detailed and picked it up a couple days later. My wife drove it home. When we got home, that's when we noticed it hadn't really been detailed inside. That was disappointing. We still go back because the service Dept is great and they do an excellent job, hence the 4. We just wished they'd done the job they said they were going to do. But I do recommend them. read more

I was in the market for a 2021 Honda Ridgeline and was in contact with about a dozen dealerships trying to price out the perfect vehicle. The ones who quoted me prices above MSRP, I thanked and moved on to the next dealership. There is currently a computer chip shortage which has affected the production of new vehicles. A lot of dealerships were taking advantage of the situation and marking up their prices -- but they were honest about their greed, which I can respect. I get it. I didn't leave any of those dealerships with a bad review. But THIS dealership? Their insincerity irked me tremendously, so I've decided to leave this review as a warning. I was working with a customer service representative who was perfectly pleasant. I told him what I wanted, asked for pricing, gave him my list of wants/needs and, most importantly, advised I did not want any dealer add-ons. He gave me a quote with several dealer add-ons, including $900 in paint protections. I advised him again I did not want any dealer add-ons. I told him we can move forward with the sale if he is able to take those off. After doing all the legwork, he handed me off to a salesman (who I'm not going to name because I'm sure he was just following orders). The salesman basically said: Tony, we are an honest dealership. Every other dealership is marking up their vehicles over MSRP, but we are not!! We respect the customer too much to do that! What we have done instead is add a paint protector for only $900 [along with other insanely overpriced dealer add-ons]! You're not paying any extra markup on the sticker price, especially with the limited chip and vehicle supply! You are paying for things that will benefit you only! You should be glad we're giving it to you for MSRP! I advised I did not require the paint protection and was not going to pay $900 for a service I did not ask for. I agreed to certain things, such as the mudguards, but not for $200. I advised the exact same mudguards were for sale online for about $80, but I'll give him the benefit of a doubt and pay $120 -- which I think was reasonable since I can put those on myself. The salesman told me it was already done, and he was unable to do anything about the pricing. Okay, that's fine. I kindly thanked the salesman and told him I was going elsewhere. He asked me why, stating SEVERYAL TIMES I was getting such a good deal. And now I'm irked. Really? Do you need me to say it? So I pointed out -- yes, the dealership was not marking up the vehicle's MSRP, but they were throwing on unwanted and unnecessary dealer add-ons at insane prices and stating those add-ons are for my benefit and not negotiable. I'd rather have a dealership be upfront about their dishonesty and say "Hey, we're going to take advantage of this vehicle shortage and make you pay above MSRP," instead of being sneaky about it and say "we are NOT LIKE THEM, but you have to pay for all of these extra things you don't need or want -- and you have no choice because there is a shortage." After I called the salesman out, he told me he was able to remove the $900 extra service -- but it already left a bad taste in my mouth. I went out to Apostolakis Honda in Cortland, Ohio (about 80 miles east of this dealership) and bought a brand spanking new 2021 Honda Ridgeline for BELOW the MSRP. Check out their review! My wife took our 2017 Honda Ridgeline in for oil change and it had a low speed hesitation. Service people were extremely polite and very knowledgable. It turned out to be a transmission issue. The original transmission warranty had expired However he informed my wife that Honda extended the transmission warranty. So what would've normally been a three to $400 charge was no charge! In addition they honored a coupon with $15 off for the oil change! I have owned many vehicles in my life and I've been to many dealerships for service and sales. Was told they didn't have the right size oil filter, the appointment was made 5 days ago. Wouldn't you think they would know they needed the filter when they asked me what kind of car it was? My husband and I found a used 2017 Sienna and the listing and description was falsified ! This listing was deceitful. The dealer has deceitfully withheld disclosing important repairs needed for this vehicle. We drove two hours to visit this dealer for this vehicle and both rear sliding doors were broken and the A/C has a broken blower. These items were only discovered within the 5 minutes we had for the test drive and the dealer was unwilling to repair or adjust price. We felt that this was very deceitful and no compensation offered for our wasted 200 miles of round trip travel. We had several calls with the salesman and never once did he mention these issues, and when he took us out to the van he said "Oh yeah, I should mention the sliding doors don't work with the motor" so he knew and didn't say anything. Then the A/C and Heat was the loudest grinding noise and didn't blow cold or hot. All he said was "well we did price this slightly below market value" and that's totally fine, but the decent thing would have been to disclose the issues on the ad and on the phone before we wasted 2hrs and many miles on a car that we are trying to trade in!!! I will be making this review everywhere I can find to warn people that this place is SHADY! SHAME ON THEM!!! read more

Horrible! I had to take my 2012 Honda pilot, 98K miles back four times (a total of 5xs to dealership) First time I came back, picked up, lights came back on within the week, brought vehicle back. While they had my vehicle they called me later that day with another issue, OK, fix it, hour later, another issue, OK, fix that, too, a third issue phone call and again gave the thumbs up to fix it. After having my vehicle for a week, it was done. Picked up and on my way home, lights came back on. Took back to dealership. Again picked up and on my way, lights came back on... Ugh back to the dealership. Left vehicle on Thursday to pick up on Monday. May 22, 2023 paid and left dealership. One day of driving, lights again came back on, did I say ugh already?? Called them and told me to come on in. Mara Carder tells me a lot more problems they saw before?? They had my car four times and not once mentioned anymore more problems, would have never paid over $1500 if there is so many more problems. She said they would do a diagnosis, while I am in waiting room with two small children. After an hour, I ask how much longer, she had no idea when they would be able to get to it. I wasn't spending any more money so I didn't have the smiles from the girl, she used to be when I was spending money. My car now is not a priority to get a diagnosis done on it. This should've been done already??? I was taken advantage of because they knew I didn't know about cars, but acted like I should have known, what was going on under my car when done. I had to ask for an itemized list of what was done. I needed one sensory done, according to the Avon discount tire & Conrad's in Elyria, Honda said they did all four?? Why?$? Today they said they had pictures and I asked for a copy of those pictures and they said they would email them to me, I called up, reminding Mara that she was to email me those pictures, she confirmed my email 4 hours ago & still no pics.
