The Kidney Foundation uses the Detroit Zoo also for their annual walk. This was a great time seeing all the animals. There have been times that the animals have been hiding or sleep in the past. Today was the day that they were all up and at them for all to see. "Lions & tigers & bears, oh my!" We got to see the African tiger, lions, rhinos, grizzly bears, peacocks, buffalo, ostriches, monkeys, etc. Everyone was out for a photo op! If you haven't gone in awhile, you owe it to yourself to treat you and your family to a wonderful outing. The holiday visits in December is another great time for families.

AMBIANCE: Pretty standard zoo, was not as big as we thought it was going to be. Lots of vegetation which was nice. They have plenty of bathrooms (but no AC so they are hot!). Many places to eat and street carts throughout. Decor is pleasant. They have several water misters throughout that you can walk through to cool off (that was a nice touch). The setup is a little hard to navigate (you can miss stuff or have to back track a lot). STAFF: CASHIER: friendly enough (she wasn't rude). OTHER (photo takers, exhibit workers, food vendors): All were very friendly, no complaints. CLEANLINESS: All seemed kept up fairly well. BATHROOMS: Several spread throughout pretty well. All indoors but NO air conditioning so they are very hot and muggy! Most have several stalls so not a long wait. PRICES: $21/ea ticket if ordered online (pricing changes with day you go!!!) $8 for parking on their private lots. PARKING: Amble amount on their private lots. OVERALL THOUGHTS: It's a nice zoo to go to once (unless you live in the area). Pricey tickets and pay for parking. Half of the animals were no where to be seen (maybe being so warm??), so that was a bummer and ones that were out were sleeping tucked away so hard to see. Navigating the layout was a bit tricky (lots of backtracking, to not miss things). VERY busy. WOULD I RETURN? No, once was enough for this zoo.

First time visit at the Petting Farm at Domino's. We took a Grandbaby for an outing today. It was a…read morebit chilly (just above 40 degrees and the wind didn't help matters much). As many times as I had driven past Domino's along Route 23, I never knew there was a petting farm nestled back in there! Very well kept, animals' pens were clean, animals all looked very healthy and well cared for. The grounds were also well maintained. Sheep, horses, goats, rabbits, chickens, peacock, donkey, alpaca, geese, etc. In various pens inside and outside of the barns. Animals outside of the buildings also had coverage areas built for them. An aged stationary tractor is on display for children to climb up onto the seat and play "Farmer John" for a while. There was also a playground area as well as an oversized doll house for children to experience. A poll barn is used as a gathering center for birthday parties, etc. Great idea for children to go and experience farm animals up close and personal. Fun afternoon.

My sister and I decided to take our kids to the petting farm earlier this week. My daughter turned…read morethree and it was her birthday. We find the place it's small and nice. We go in to the welcome center and our kids-all under 9-are excited to see the farm animals and feed them. We wait around for someone and finally the blonde kid shows up out of nowhere behind the counter and just stands there awkwardly looking at us. We say hi and discuss options for family entrance fee vs individual fees. As my sister and I argue about who will pay, we hear loud barking and out jumps a large black dog from behind the counter and is barking at all the little kids. I immediately step to the side of the counter and survey where all the kids are- the little ones are all screaming and crying. My sister stays calm and immediately goes to her 1 1/2 year old to comfort her and my 3 year old is next to her and her 4 year old is unable to get to her and they are all hysterical. I try to find a way to get to them but the dog is angrily barking between us. My older two immediately run out of the place. Blonde kid is standing there relaxed and smiling not saying a word to us or the dog. I look at him and say oh is he on a leash? He slowly responds no and says he's safe or something vague. I look at him confused and he really is enjoying it and having a hard time hiding it. My sister manages somehow to get over to the door with the kids clinging to her and I finally get to my kids to comfort them. Our kids normally love seeing dogs and have had many positive experiences with dogs, but that was aggressive barking in a tiny space, and the dog seemed otherwise well-trained so I'm sure he didn't sense danger when these tiny humans entered. Do all the kids get barked at here? By this time the kids are traumatized especially the birthday girl and my sister's 4 year old. They don't enjoy the rest of the farm at all and continue crying when they see the goats and sheep when they normally love visiting the farm and feeding the animals, who not to mention don't seem to be well-cared for either.

It isn't worth buying your admission ticket beforehand because you have to wait in the long line to get in. Only members have a shorter line. The security gates are before the admission and once you pay for your ticket, you walk into the smaller side of the zoo. We purchased tickets for the train ride ($3.50 a person) so we could beat a long line and we were so glad we did because when we got off (around 11amish, it was such a long line)!! The most disappointing thing to me was you literally cannot walk up to see the Giraffes unless you pay to feed them. That was really lame. You should still be able to see them. I enjoyed the other side of the zoo more. The food was okay (got a southwest wrap and it was delicious but pretty pricey at $13.50). You can't warm the wraps unfortunately and they come from a refridgerated section. I got a smoothie/slushy for $8 so that wasn't too bad and it was refreshing since it was such a hot day! The ladies working there were super nice too! Overall, would definitely come back! I enjoyed the Aviary section the most because I love birds and I appreciated how you can walk through the bird sections and take pics of them up close (they aren't caged). Super cool! The Aquarium was really fun too!

The Toledo zoo is a wonderful zoo. But getting inside is ridiculously slow. Thru have long lines…read morethat move very slowly even for members, and this is the only zoo we've ever been to that checked so many people's IDs (which is why it's the slowest moving lines of any zoo we've ever gone to.) As soon as they stop being stupid about their entrance, they will be one of the best zoos. We saw a lot of great animals. And there's a little train that goes around the African savannah. We got to feed giraffes. It was cool to see elephants, but I don't think this enclouse gives them enough walking space. We really enjoyed this zoo.

It was pretty delightful & the staff were super friendly and interacting with the animals. The CC was started 20 years ago with Al the Alligator! He was dropped off at the Vet clinic and they started CC all around him. Pretty awesome. It's not a massive space so it was perfect to get there at 3:30pm - in time for the 4pm show which is followed by an Al the Alligator feeding! We checked out all the habitats on the outside as well. Super cool experience - I'd love to come back for one of their turtle yoga, 18+ paint nights, etc. They always have pretty cool themed programming. We saw the farm/zoo cat. They had lots of ducks, some donkeys, a few cows, pigs and goats. And then maybe alpacas? I'm not sure. Very long necks. We went at about 75 degrees. The time was 11ish but they do say the animals are more active when it's cooler out. So 75 degrees should give you an idea. The goats were very friendly. They enjoyed being pet and stood there for a long time for us. One of the pigs came over too. The cat liked being pet but only a certain way. And if you didn't do it. You got a reminder gentle bite, but a bite nonetheless. The cows, alpacas, ducks and donkeys were not interested in coming over. The animals were all fed around noon which was a cool time to be there too. Word if caution, the fence is vinyl. One if the cows got excited it was gonna be fed and bumped into the fence. It bowed so badly, it scared me and I pulled my kiddo back. They are quite powerful.

We reserved Bonfire No. 7 for a perfect fall night for four hours. Three Cedars Farm is definitely an attraction in Northville complete with bonfires, hayrides, a corn maze, and of course apple cider and donuts! The bonfire was a great spot to hang out, put up a tent, grill some burgers and hot dogs and make s'mores. The staff periodically would come by on a cart to drop off more wood. The hayride was a nice short ride from the front of the farm to the back of the farm where the corn maze is located. Tip: I recommend that you bring flashlights and/or lanterns for when the sun goes down to enjoy your bonfire area. There is no light in the corn maze and you will resort to using the flashlight on your phone to try to find the Christmas tree stations in the maze. Don't forget to keep track on the corn maze postcards to turn in at the Donut Hut to be entered into a drawing. The only drawback are teenagers hiding in the corn maze jumping out at people in the dark. I hope no one gets hurt and this continues to be a place for adults and children alike. Also note the Donut Hut closes at 8pm although we were at the bonfire until 10pm. So get your share of cider and donuts early. I think the value of experiencing fresh donuts with hot apple cider sitting around the bonfire was perfect and worth every penny. I would like to go back next fall. Their current attraction is The Country Store complete with photos with Mr. & Mrs. Clause in Santaland for a limited time.
