Had to find a new optical store.It was nearby and a good location. We had a pleasant greating,but most of all a very thorough eye exam with very knowledgeable suggestions. The eyeglasses were completed in a timely manner. They both were bifocals. After fitting them they were a great improvement, and very clear. I would suggest visiting them. I had set an appointment here in November. I asked the lady on the phone to take my insurance and to confirm it prior to getting there. She told me she would not do that. I end up going to the appointment and they tell me they do not accept VSP, but they can do some backend billing through a sister office or match the prices, so I proceed. I end up going through with my appointment. I liked the doctor. I picked out Tom ford glasses and they charge me $650, plus billing to my insurance. I just had gotten new insurance, so I had no idea if my insurance was good or not. I talked to other lawyers at my office and they say this sounds completely wrong and they all paid 250-300 for high end glasses because our insurance is so great. I contact the office and request an itemized bill going over what was billed to insurance and what I paid since my coworkers said that is completely wrong. I get told for almost a month that someone will do this and send it to me. I texted many times and called a handful of times to not receive what I requested. I still have not, even though I have requested it probably about 10-15 times now. Today, they finally texted a breakdown which does not match my VSP benefits. It feels like they have been using arbitrary numbers to bill me. I looked up my frames they said cost $650, using the serial number on the side of the glasses (FYI- they cover serial numbers with stickers so you can't go look up the real prices) and the frames online are 25% of their price without insurance. I will never go here again, and have advised others of my experience. I see other people on Yelp have had issues with billing and insurance like this prior as well. Also, my frames were supposedly $650 there but 125-300 online, mainly being 150-175. I would recommend not purchasing frames here. read more

Aug 2021 but never posted: I have been here before and the staff was always pleasant and doctors on schedule. I arrived on time and the four staff in the store ignored me when I came in. Then after that, they told me they'd be right with me while another patient went in for her exam. No explanation or apologies for my wait! VERY unprofessional!! By the way, they had just called me to confirm mythe day before. Nov 2022: almost same treatment again this year. I was about 7 min late for my appointment, but still waiting for my exam - 45 min past my scheduled time. Staff very unfriendly, and after I complained, I finally was able to get a reluctant apology. This place needs to better manage their appointments and train staff to be more friendly. read more

Since I live around the area I was looking for a place somewhere close to get a vision test and purchase a pair of glasses. Now I know some places offer a free vision test if you purchase glasses, but I wasn't coming in here expecting that. I just simply needed glasses because I just bought a car for the family and I need it to drive at night. Dr. Pinkhasova was really nice. I was literally in and out within 20 minutes while picking out my glasses. Now I bought my glasses back in November of 2019. Just recently Feb 2020 I needed to renew my license so I called them to see if they can fill out the DMV form for me. They were happy to do it and I they emailed me my form within minutes. I forgot to mention, I'm sure most of you are probably wondering about the price. I didn't have vision insurance so the vision test and the pair of glasses cost me around $250 which I think was totally reasonable. I'm sure you would pay a lot less if you did have insurance. read more

Overall a bad experience with this optical shop. The office manager answered the phone when I first called. Most of the interactions with her felt like she was evasive, not up front or open and slippery with pricing. My experience echos the previous reviewer's experiences. On the phone she said "we're not allowed to go over insurance information on the phone" ? Ok, one of many routine things other places do that this place doesn't seem to want to do. On the day of my eye exam, the ophthalmologist was very nice but about 45 minutes late for no apparent reason, none given. It seems very weird to me that a pair of non-prescription sunglasses would be so high priced there. I should have just walked away. It seemed like a big deal for them to even generate an itemized receipt like everywhere else that I've been to does. If you want semi-reasonable prices and professional treatment go elsewhere. read more

I went here for a routine eye exam from a' list' provided by my insurance company. The optometrist was ok but her assistant ( Isabel ) would not give me my PD and even after purchasing a pair of eyeglasses there. She insisted that it is not part of the RX , even though it is ' essential ' in ordering eyeglasses and if I need it, it is an additional fee. I've gotten glasses and contacts from other places, small and local to great neck and also from higher end chain stores. The most accurate prescriptions I have gotten have been from Dr. Tamayeva. Rather than have you stare at a picture of a little red barn to get your prescription, she spends the time using the actual lenses. She patient and pleasant and she gets it right. Great Neck Opticians is our favorite local eyewear store. My 5 year old son wears Miraflex frames which are plastic, durable and flexible. Perfect for active kids. Lenses easily pop in and out, quick to replace. Gary was extremely helpful, ordering the right size for my son, staying late to help us and calling to follow up after we took the glasses home. The store has a great selection and Gary is spectacular with the kids. We will be back next time we need a new pair of glasses! read more

I see I have a five-star review of this marvelous place from 2017: well, my enthusiasm has not waned. A great selection of frames, splendid optometry from Drs. Yelena and Eleanora, and true friendly efficient service from Isabel, Jennifer, Sabrina, Selena, and if I left anyone out, I apologize. The place is very businesslike but also warm and real: it's not the fake-friendship of someone who loses interest as soon as the sale is concluded. I've bought frames and lenses, had adjustments and repairs, gotten eye exams, and it's always been a pleasant genuine experience. And since Great Neck is full of opticians and optometrists, I can also tell you that GNO is price-competitive. I might be moving away in a year or two, but I think I will happily come back here: they are a consumer's paradise. And I see better because of them! (P.S. The chain stores offer fake bargains but their interest in you vanishes even before you've taken your credit card out. Not here.) read more

Hind"sight" (pun intended) is 20/20. I can't ever en"vision" going back to a chain optical store. Great Neck Opticians (GNO) is the only place for me. Last month I purchased new progressives. Please see my 3/12/21 GREAT review. This past week I went back to GNO and ordered prescription sunglasses (heard it's supposed to get sunny in about 2 weeks). I highly recommend GNO.
