Great Neck Pools installed a new inground pool liner for us in March 2019. Since it was too early to "open" the pool, the cover was placed back over it and the pool was opened in May. Upon opening we noticed several wrinkles in the floor of the new liner and we contacted Great Neck Pools about it on 5/23/19. Scott responded on 5/26/19 that he would come by and look at it...that was finally done on 6/26/19. By this point, the new liner was also pulling away from the coping in two spots. Scott said the wrinkles needed to be removed from the liner soon so they did not "set" in the pool. He said water would need to be drained down to a certain point in order for the liner to be repaired and he indicated that the work would be scheduled to be done right after the July 4th holiday. No one ever showed up to perform the work...or called to reschedule it. And apparently Scott left the company. After several more calls and emails, Jeff returned one call but has continued to ignore the problem. I'm assuming we will have to pay someone else to repair the shoddy work at this point. Both Scott and Jeff had ample time to correct the issue. I would never recommend doing business with Great Neck Pools. They do not respond to their customers nor do they stand behind their work. Me and a friend ordered liners in March and are just now getting them installed - almost July. Very unfortunate situation to be in when they have your money and you have nothing to show for it. They are nice, but service is not what it used to be. Nice only gets you so far and then you have to be prompt and on your game. Today I am looking for parts that are missing and hooking up the accessories that I was told would be done for me at the time of install. Not even worth complaining anymore. Lesson learned won't be using them again. Hopefully the warranty will not be needed as I don't wish to call there ever again. read more

Wow! Came in today trying to get help getting our pool ready for the holiday weekend. We came in 15 minutes from closing and never felt rushed. They offered every bit of their knowledge (pretty vast) to help us out with a plan for the season. One problem with other pool stores is the smell is often toxic, at GNP I didn't smell anything, I'm very sensitive to these smells. I love to support local stores and establishments like Great Neck Pools is a reason I do, great caring service and prices that are very good as well. Thanks!! read more

Very understaffed, Scheduled for Wednesday, didn't come out until Thursday due to staff according to the lady at store. Had to return on Friday due to chemical timing. (Understandably) upon return on Friday the technicians vacuum busted at my house leaving dead algae all over my deck and drive way. Instead of explaining this and handling professionally, they just said they would be back tomorrow ( Saturday) without cleaning the mess. I called the office, they said I would be charged another full hour for Saturday and it would be cleaned then but that it was good for the yard! denied equipment breaking blamed coming back on adding more chemicals. This was false there were not any chemicals added on Friday. I was home and also stated on daily receipt none were added. Needless to say my first impression was horrible! Never in 18 years have I felt taken advantage of due to husband being deployed until now. Save your time and hire someone else. I only give a 2 bc of the staff in house and Tyson. Do not hire for the pool service. read more

Really bad experience. I sure miss Glynis and Jeff. I didn't realize that ownership had changed hands so was caught off guard with their poor quality service and won't be using them again. I scheduled them for a pool opening and after the technician came to my house he left it with the pump spewing water all over my yard. The tenant and I tried to get in touch with someone at the store to see if someone would come out for 2 days and finally they came out to finish opening the pool and put the pump back together. This was the first time in several years that everything wasn't taken care of and monitored to make sure this didn't happen over the course of a long day and next day followup, with maybe one more checkup a week later for chemicals. I also was told that the charge was originally over $720 and I was given a discount to $540 for the inconvenience and flooding to my yard. This was significantly higher than any other opening or closing ever in the past even when those included me replacing parts. I'm sad to say we won't be able to use great neck pools anymore and they used to be my favorite. Also, the girl on the phone lacks the skills needed to deal directly with the public. read more

Jeff, John, Glynis, and Bob are amazing!! They treat you like family. I was a first time pool owner AND my husband was deployed so I was in the store all the time and whenever I needed some extra Pool 101, John the service manager, came by to give me a hand. I couldn't have asked for better service. I also use their pool cleaning service and have been satisfied. Sometimes there will still be debris left on the floor after they clean but not that big a deal. read more

Very nice people that run the place and work for them. Unfortunately they can't seem to stay organized or deliver on promises. They don't show up when scheduled and when they do are not detailed about completing the work. They offer and sell premium service packages but don't deliver the better service after charging more. I recommend trying other providers in the area. read more

My husband and I came in about 5:40 on Thursday evening to buy MORE chemicals for our swampy green pool. We had been using another pool company who advised us to keep buying the chemicals to open the pool. An incredibly knowledgeable lady told Me to go home and get her a sample. I offered to come back the next business day as they were closing. She walks t have it and so I went home. Come to find out my pool chemistry was All jacked up. She wrote down exactly what I needed to do. Tomorrow I will take back a sample to see what else, if anything needs to be done. Basically what I am saying is customer service is top notch! She and her staff stayed 30 min after closing so that I can get my pool chemistry right. I recommend GNP to anyone. Support local! read more

Ownership has changed hands and I'm not impressed at all! I miss Glynnis and Jeff! They were always willing to help; the new management is just pushing chemicals and not customer oriented at all. The manager (I believe or maybe he is the new owner?) just sits at the desk on the computer or on his phone. He does not interact with customers at all-I just had my testing done and according to them my salt was perfect (even though my salt system says I was low) and they did not test for stabilizer because they did not have the chemical to test the level of stabilizer that day. This is the third time I have gone to them this summer and I'm done....I was done after the first visit (testing was done incorrectly and the testor dumped the water-had to go home and get another sample) but since they are close by I figured I would try again. read more

We needed a new pool liner and someone recommended Great Neck Pools to us. We were upset and disappointed with their quality of work for so many reasons! There are many "bumps & lumps" under the liner in the shallow end that were NEVER there before for the past 10+ years since we had the pool installed (by another company that went out of business). There was (and still is!) GLUE ALL OVER the liner over a large area in the deep end that now is getting discolored from dust and debris and there is NO WAY to get the glue off, as they told us when it happened. They also left permanent scuff marks around the top edge of the liner along an entire side of the pool from hammering in the beading edger (not sure if that is the correct term). Additionally they did damage to the coping with more glue on that and there are scratches/dings. We wanted the entire liner redone but they refused. The only "remedy" they offered was to paint "some" of the coping. That's it! Now a year later, that glue residue is a real mess and I get so annoyed every time I am swimming in the pool as it is a reminder of the lousy workmanship. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. It amazes us how people/companies don't take pride in doing quality work and wanting the customer to be happy with the end product. read more

On 07/30/15 or 07/31/15 two unidentified young men appeared unannounced in our fenced, gated and locked back yard. My wife was in the yard, in her robe, watering plants. She was rightfully startled when they appeared around the corner of the house. When asked, they stated they were from Great Neck Pools and were there to help us with issues we had with our pool. They had no identification and had not advised us in advance that they were coming. They stated they had reached over the gate to unlock it. (We have a second, lower latch which they did not mention.) Later, when the employee at the office was told what happened she apologized and promised my wife it would not happen again. On 08/04/15 it happened again. Two young men with no identification appeared in our double locked back yard. That afternoon I went to the Great Neck Pools office to speak with the owner. After I identified myself to him he explained that he was familiar with the incident, the employees were trusted ad he didn't believe that the gate was double locked. Further he said he thought it best not to do business with my wife and me. In a subsequent e-mail to me he stated "our scheduling software provides an e-mail the night before ...". I certainly got their bill in my e-mail that same day but I never received e-mail notification of their scheduled visit. He says further in his e-mail that opening the fence and going in the back yard is "standard operating procedure". They never called, they didn't e-mail, and they didn't even ring the front door bell or knock on the gate. They just came in unannounced. This seems dangerous (what if we had a dog?), it seems intrusive (what if we were in the yard?) and it seems just plain rude. He closes his e-mail with "I can't control what other people say ....". We believe that he could have listened, we believe that he could have been a bit more appreciative of us as customers and we believe that he could have been more respectful to us as neighbors. The previous owners had been a joy to work with - we never had a moment's problem. The new owners not so much. I am sorry to offer a negative review but feel others should be aware of the experience we had. read more

Terrible experience! I called in late last week (Thursday) to see if I could have someone come out and fix my pool pump. It had stopped working completely and the pool was starting to turn green. I spoke with whoever answered the phone (never gave their name) and I was informed that a technician would be out to my house on Monday or Tuesday. I scheduled that (or so I thought based on what I was told) but I also stated that I was going to see if I could get someone to come out sooner and if I could, I would call back and cancel my "appointment" (you know, like common courtesy). So today is Tuesday and I hadn't heard anything so I call in to follow up. Spoke with the same person and she proceeded to tell me that she remembered talking to me last week but never actually scheduled my appointment! She then made it seem like I was indecisive when we last spoke. I assure you this is NOT the case. I was very clear and she definitely understood me. I was then told today, that she could "schedule an appointment for next Monday or Tuesday". Wow!!! Probably the worst customer service I've had in a while, I was pretty angry to say the least and I told her to forget it and I hung up! I never write reviews but this was ridiculous! Based on my short but aggravating experience with this company, I would NEVER recommend this place!!! read more

After receiving a visit to see what was wrong with my tub I received an estimate for repairs for about $722. I was also invoiced for $98 for the guy to come out and give me the estimate. I was shocked by the costs and instead called East Coast Leisure who came out and fixed the problem (also replacing the pump) for $250 total. I called Great Neck and told them that I was not happy to pay the $98 when they were so off the mark on the repair but they insisted I pay, which I did. I will never buy my chemicals or use them again for repairs. I'm not sure why their prices are so much higher than their competition but if you care about your cash, call around before you ask them to come out. Even the quote was pricey. read more

I have been patient with these people. Have tried to work with them. The new owners just can't perform like the old owners. Promises of who will show up and when have proved futile. Especially in the service area. Keep saying they will send an experienced service person to resolve the problems but they never do. I am going to have to move on. They just can't deliever as promissed and continue to not fulfill promises. Very sad, because I really like them. I have to find a better company. My fear is in this area that may be hard to do.
