I rarely write public reviews, but after three years of being stonewalled, ignored, and ultimately ripped off, I feel compelled to warn others. In 2022, I hired Great Performances to help celebrate the launch of my book at the iconic Strand Bookstore in NYC. I flew in friends and family for what was meant to be a milestone moment. A day before the event, I contracted COVID and, heartbreakingly, had to cancel. The contract clearly stated that in cases of force majeure--like illness--neither party would be at fault. I no longer lived in NYC, so rescheduling wasn't viable. I reached out, respectfully and in good faith, to discuss paying a portion of the nearly $6,000 charge. Instead of any further acknowledgment, I was ghosted. They stopped answering my emails entirely. No returned calls, no response--just silence. I then worked through American Express, who initially agreed I shouldn't be liable. But after years of back and forth, I was told the full charge would stand. Throughout this time, I have yet to speak with a single human being from this company. This isn't just poor customer service. It's a failure of integrity. They collected thousands of dollars for an event that never happened, provided no flexibility, no dialogue, no professionalism. I waited to write this review in hopes of resolution. That hope is gone. So is my money. If you care about decency, transparency, or the simple act of being treated like a human being--look elsewhere. read more

Former employee. Know that you are hiring a group who does not take care of their workers or care about their wellbeing. The leadership makes millions while the staff can barely live. I wouldn't want underpaid and disgruntled staff handling my food is all I'm saying. read more

I'd never even heard of Great Performances until today, when I read that they're helping to prepare and deliver 40,000 meals weekly to 8,000 homes of New Yorkers who are no longer able to get meals at their local senior centers. Great Performance's kitchen is working around-the-clock to prepare meals. What a wonderful company!! read more

I was able to experience their amazing organic food at the 150th birthday celebration of Brooklyn Academy of Music. It was all free and you can't beat that. I made a mental note to look up their website because the food was delicious and wholesome. It is great to learn that they have their own farm and everything is organically-sourced. BAM is a beautiful venue, with a dreamy, starry cafe upstairs. On some Friday nights, there is live music here. Come in and get a cocktail and enjoy good music. I was here recently discovering a new Colombian Afro- jazz band. The upstairs cafe is where the birthday party was held. Some prominent previous leaders, dancers, choreographers were in attendance and gave heart-felt recollections of the then less reputable BAM. Look how far it has come. No one now dares question the credibility of it. And all it took was one person who wanted change. That one person was Harvey Lichtenstein. He took a chance on dancers and actors that couldn't get a break in the city. He gave them hope, gave them a possibility. And that is how magic happens. When he spoke, he was almost in tears. And that was moving. My heart skipped a beat watching this man. Seeing what he created and experiencing his hardships through his narrative changed me. You can be one person that makes change. OK, I digress. Let me get back to the food: Chickpea pancake with eggplant caviar - Blini minus the guilt. I think I had like 5 of them Seared Hudson Valley Apple Tart Tatin with Aged Goat Cheese - excellent on toasted flatbreads Butternut squash soup - I had 3 bowls, enough said! Juniper-Cured Gravlax on Buttered Black Bread - I couldn't stop eating them... The food was excellent with ever-flowing wine. The speakers captivating, passionate and sincere. I had the pleasure of enjoying boxed lunches provided by Great Performances while volunteering with Food Bank at Wine and Food Festival. Each lunch came in a cute and recyclable box and included a sandwich, fruit, chips, and a homemade cookie or brownie. The sandwiches were on fresh bread with crisp lettuce and tomatoes and a healthy serving of meat and cheese. The bread ranged from potatoe white bread to marble rye to wheat studded with grains. The cookies and brownies were moist and as good as any bakery I have visited lately. For a boxed lunch, these were great. At a restaurant, I would be happy to purchase a meal of this quality. I first experienced Great Performances as they very generously donate to a local food pantry I understand they grow their own organic food in the Hudson valley.I am not a vegan just trying to eat healthier,they are masters with vegetables such a blessing read more

This catering company can pull off great feats. With that being said, often times Quality is compromised

The entire staff was extremely professional and on point all night long. they created high class food for our entire event. we had the mini tacos that sit in the crest of a lime, I mean come on, that alone was just out of this world. Personally I can not eat onions so not only did they point out to me what was col for me to eat, she even went out of her way to make me several with out onions just proving to go above and beyond! My husband and I hired Great Performances as our wedding caterer and they were phenomenal to say the least!! From the initial conversation to the actual wedding itself, the planning process was seamless. I worked with Carly and Emily and those ladies are top notch! All of our wedding guests RAVED about the food, even including a successful NYC restaurateur! GP's food is creative, beautiful and delicious. The service was immaculate. Carly and Emily went ABOVE AND BEYOND their catering duties to make sure I was enjoying the wedding planing process as a whole. GP also provided a bridal attendant on the wedding day who was so lovely and sweet - she made sure my husband and I both had the drinks of our choice, kept hydrated, was eating, and even helped me with my shoe change!
